Ring the Public Appointment Service and ask- you can't automatically assume that it is the Exec panel.

It isn't PAS - I'm referring to the Central Bank - Bank Executive panel. If I don't hear from them in the next few days I'll give them a call. If nothing else the announcement gives me hope!

The Central Bank, as a body under the auspices of the Department of Finance, is bound by the recruitment practices as dictated by the Public Appointment Services. It has some recruiting waivers, as do the Revenue Commissioners and certain other bodies, however any queries concerning public sector recruitment should be directed to the Public Appointment Service in the first instance, unless you have been assigned a personnel officer to correspond with (there will normally be at least one officer assigned in each body).

From what was Mr Neary said on the news last night when questioned, it's senior staff so don't think this competition would apply unfortunately......would love to be eating my words though!!

yeah, it's def not for the bank executive panel i'm afraid. it's the start of a whole new competition for senior bank supervisors.

So are any of you on the panel yet? I have done everything that I was asked to do ( medical, ref check) but still haven't heard anything. Thanks

Just heard on the grapevive that the Central bank in Sandyford has given 14 days notice for strike action which will affect dame st, spencer dock and the sandyford plants.
Aparently there was a case where benchmarking was awarded for sandyford employees and it wen to the labour court and it was agreed that a 7% increase would be paid and back dated from 2002 as they never recieved public service benchmarking, There seems to be corruption within the bank itself as the management team recieved 13% for benchmarking in 2002 whilst the normal workers, cleaners, admin staff and printers have to beg for half that, wait and see.

    How is that corruption?

    Hey guys,

Just got an offer from CB for Bank Officer position. I'm new in this and don't know what its all about the panel and other stuff.

I've waited 6 weeks before they said I'm through next stage (clerance, medical and ref check). Do ye know how long this may take?

Is it that slow as well once youre in?

6 weeks is not slow- when you consider the hurdles Personnel have to jump through with the Department of Finance in order to recruit staff. The medical and ref check is normally quite quick- 1-2 weeks, the Garda clearance check can take a while though.

12 months probation is entirely normal- you don't accrue pension rights during this period- and then you go on a different payscale at the end of the 12 months and begin to make regular superannuation payments.

Unfortunately Personnel most probably have very little idea of who will ultimately end up in which department at this stage- you could always ask, but I'd not expect a reply.

    Congrats on the offer!!!

Why do people need to undergo a medical for an office job?

Why do people need to undergo a medical for an office job?

To find out whether you're hale and hearty, or likely to be out sick every second day.......? Just because you look as fit as a fiddle- doesn't mean you don't have a serious illness......
