What's the pain like when you do your knee ligaments? Is it like a fire in your knee or something?

Yup there is a burning feeling. To be honest the pain is really like when you go over on your ankle, like a really bad sprain. Knee generally feels really hot like its about to pop. After the initial pain goes, it will just feel like a sprain. After a day or two that sprained feeling will go away and there is literally no pain at all.

Until you go back and try and play again, your knee will just give way and it will swell up again.

Im currently recovering from surgery after completely tearing my ACL back in March.

I posted this yesterday but the second challenge (the one with Mata) was very similar to what happened me in the way it was the left knee bent inwards.

If you have ever really really badly sprained or torn ligaments in your ankle, thats the best way of describing the pain except its in your knee. I was on the ground for a good three minutes anyways, close to actually getting sick. The pain is that bad.

So if somehow Lucas was able to hobble about straight after with a torn ACL he really is some beast.

The first knock imo, might not have been that serious. My worry is the second collision looked much worse and the way Lucas reacted showed he was in more pain this time.

Saying all this though, I was back walking after three minutes or so and just thought it was a mild sprain. I found out a month later that I tore my ACL and that was only after returning to training and it breaking down again in the middle of that training.

To sum it up....we really dont know until he has the scan. :pac::(

I dislocated my kneecap in November 2009 - first time so muscles holding the knee in place were torn and I had to wear a brace for 6 weeks or so and then physio for months. I think I played an Astro game in April/May and played a friendly game in pre-season in July 2010 (probably could have been earlier)

EDIT: Burning feeling is an apt description.

Gera had cruciate ligament damage last weekend and has just been ruled out for the season. One hopes this wouldn't be the case here.

Kess, may I ask where you have managed to watch Rosenborg games??

Henrikssen has built up 60 odd games for them despite only turning 19 this summer. Personally I don't think he will develop into a player of Eriksen's ilk. Not even close.

He will plateau in terms of form, I think its more a case of a young player with decent ability getting alot of games.

My dad is a Rosenborg fan as it happens, where on earth have you watched their games, i'm curious thats all :p

Mostly with online streams when in Ireland or when Rosenberg are on Eurosport or when they are in Europe and on a normal channel. When back in Liverpool I have a better satelite set up for channels than I do here, so can pick up many station to watch games from the European leagues.

I like to keep an eye out for FC Copenhagen games as well as I tend to find Danish games on the same sites as Norwegian games.

I'm just a bit of a freak for following different leagues and because I have spent quite a bit of time working and living in Europe, mostly Northern Europe at that, my footballing interests outside of Liverpool tend to lean towards leagues where I used to go to games, hence me liking German, Belgian, Danish, Norwegian, and Dutch football. I continued that trend of wanting to watch live footy when I moved here and like to pop along to Limerick FC games or to some of the sunday league games.

As for Henrikssen, I do think he has something about him, and he seems to be able to bring his league form to the european games. He may not go on to be as big a name as I think Eriksen will be, but I do have a sneaky feeling that Henriksen will turn out to be a fine Premiership level player, and may be very close right now to being ready to move to a better league than the one he is in. He seems far more developed and rounded at 19 than say the likes of Spearing or Henderson look at the moment, and he seems to have better basics than those two despite only being 19 years of age.

I think the psychology of playing them in the semi-final suits Liverpool more than City as it happens.

The semi final dates are 9th January and 23rd January so if Lucas is out for the rest of the season there is time for reinforcements.

Damn right. Mancini will switch on his tv on the 6th of January, and be met with the sight of Kenny standing beside Hummels, Hazard, Sissoko, and Nilmar.:D

I don't think so, Rossi is though.

    Edit; He is fit again.

    http://www.adifferentleague.co.uk/p6_1_11551_garridos-problems-at-villarreal-mount-as-catal%C3%A1-adds-to-injury-list.html
Juan Carlos Garrido must be wondering what he has done wrong as yet another of his player’s has fallen victim to the injury jinx that has seen Villarreal’s squad decimated this season.

José Catalá is the latest to be sidelined after picking up a leg injury in training before the 3-1 Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich. It has now been confirmed that the 26-year-old defender, a regular in the team this season, is expected to be out for at least six weeks and will miss the league games with Málaga, Racing Santander, Real Sociedad and Osasuna, along with / two Copa del Rey ties against minnows Mirandés. He will also be unavailable for the fixture with Napoli that rounds off Villarreal’s disastrous Champions League campaign, where they have suffered defeat in all five games so far.

Catalá, who will now target the first game of 2012 against Valencia for a possible return, joins a long list of players to have been struck down this campaign, including key men Giuseppe Rossi, Nilmar, Cani, Marco Ruben, Marcos Senna and Cristián Zapata. However, there was some good cheer for Garrido with the news that Brazilian striker Nilmar has returned to training following two months out with a knee injury.

If Lucas is injured for 6 months its a hammer blow to Liverpool's season. Along with Suarez one of the two players ye really couldn't afford to lose.

After the initial injury mine felt like a regular cartilage tear , however when i put pressure on it i literally collapsed in a heap , had to drag myself up the stairs when i got home after training, like Joe said i didnt realise i had a torn Acl until about 6 weeks later after the scan. The longer you go without surgery the weaker & more unstable your knee becomes - not a nice injury :(

quick quote from an article on Footytube. good stuff out of Dirk being mentioned in good company here! :P
Both sides included highly mobile miniature ball‑manipulators in their starting lineups – Luis Suárez and Dirk Kuyt for the home team, Sergio Agüero, Samir Nasri and David Silva for the visitors – with the result that there was no shortage of fluid movement.
