    Super Mario for sure!! :D

However, I'm no fan of the new games. Mario isn't supposed to be 3D. He's supposed to be a pixelly figure on my old Nintendo console :o

Well its more of a SNES/SEGA question.

Ah, the good old days, I remember not going to an Xmas party so I could clear Super Mario Bros.3

First they came for the socialists...

Sonic, sure he has a gene named after him

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Sonic everytime. At least he has a pair of balls.
Marios a bitch-whipped, drug riddled furry.
Eating mushrooms, dressing up like a racoon and then leaping to Peaches aid when she gets "kidnapped" again. Shes definitely loving some Bowser willy. Nobody gets kidnapped that easily that often

Which generation of Mario/Sonic games are we on about?

If we're talking old school I would have them as fairly equal, both a fantastic set of games that have stood the test of time that I still play to this day.

New school Mario pisses all over Sonic though. Pretty much every Sonic game released after Sonic & Knuckles was dire.

Well it's quite simple. If you're a hard working, straight-laced person you prefer Mario the Plumber. If you're a hippy/student/alternative than you prefer the little blue hedgehog because you can't get the same rush watching him go super fast as you can dropping pills!

sonic is one of the most over-rated gaming characters in history alongside lara croft

Hmmmm the flagship brand and 1 of the main driving forces behind the 1st proper challenge to Nintendos dominance that had existed since the video games crash in the early 80s. I think games would be a much scarier place without him.

Mario used to drive me cracked as a young lad, I'd flip out after falling down the same hole after 20 goes. The super Nintendo was a well made machine though, I hopped the thing of a wall one day and was able to continue playing afterwards.

True - it was a well made machine...I smashed my head off it maybe 40 times in a row and it worked perfectly fine....or did it?

    Mario.

Sonic games really died in quality after the first few...at least that's what popular opinion dictates :P

I missed out on the whole 16bit era but I probably enjoyed Mario more for what little I played of them.

Here, why the f*ck can't you just be in the castle Mario is batling through from the start???

With all the "I'm sorry, the Princess is in another castle" business i'm surprised Mario doesn't punch you in the face when he finds you!!
