A groundbreaking new study shows that laws legalizing medical marijuana have resulted in a nearly nine percent drop in traffic deaths and a five percent reduction in beer sales.

The alcohol industry would be horrified by the thought of losing sales to that nasty plant and lobby hard to keep the prohibition farce going.

But the tobacco companies already have patents on a lot of the more well-known strain names.

You win some, you lose some.

It's just been made legal to grow in some Swiss cantons, and it will be legal in Copenhagen soon also.

It's only a matter of time here.

    For personal use is it?

    I really hope so.

It's such a waste of time for the Gardai and the courts and it makes young people into unwilling law-breakers.

In Switzerland, yes. In Copenhagen they'll be opening coffeeshops from 2012.

T'will happen. Sooner rather than later.

The recession will be a big help.

A totally victimless 'crime' if ever there was one.

When you think about it the illegality of weed is at best absurd and at worst just plain evil.

3 pounds? That's enough for 212,358,901 "hand-rolled cigarettes" according to the latest an Garda Siochana figures.

Didn,t really read the thread but the bits i did people seem to think this is bull***t it actually isn,t tbh...Was in Amsterdam over a year ago and atm this Cheese and Afghan yadayada is every bit as good if not better than that Tangerine Dream thats supposedly super over there..

Oh no people are smoking ultra strong weed now instead of hash, I remember when there was nothing but hash where I came from and it wouldn't be unusual to find bits of plastic in the middle of blocks. That was much safer alright.

...and at a street value of approximately 5 euros per cigarette, that's somewhere around the value of the country's national debt.

Read the rest of the thread to see why people think it's bullsh*t...or not so much why they think it's bullsh*t but why it would be stronger here in many cases.

I heard the percentage of "Tetrahydrocannabinol" (the active ingredient) in weed is skyrocketing at the moment.

    FYP

I think that might be the word you meant to say (THC). I believe there are much stronger strains now from selective breeding of plants. Not sure though.

As would the pharmaceutical industry, there is no money to be made from cannabis as a cure to anything, pfizer etc or your doctor wouldn't profit because you'd grow it yourself.

End of story, no patent, no investing in research & continued prohibition
