Ahem. I "murdered" about seven tiny, cute and absolutely gorgeous kittens once. The options were to let them die slowly of starvation or put them in a bag and drown them immediately after they were born. The latter option was chosen (by somebody who cared for them but was no longer able to) as the most humane one and I was asked to do it. It's not much of a choice, but in the real world where things aren't black and white somebody's got to do such things.

I don't understand posting this stuff though - what is there to say?!
    Jesus I feel sick... :(

Big difference between a last resort and microwaving a kitten as an act if revenge. Although I can't help wondering why there wasn't an alert put out that those kittens were in need of a home.

That's the image that came into my mind. Ripe for an appearance on Jeremy Kyle.

Then found there's a picture of her on The Daily Mail website, along with a picture of a kitten. Not the kitten in question, but one 'similar', in case there are people who don't know what a kitten looks like.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2065202/Mother-killed-friends-kitten-microwave-revenge-boyfriend-reported-police.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

I couldn't follow the story tbh. It'd have been a lot easier if the DM had included a picture of the microwave oven in question, or one similar.

The comment I was responding to was more general, though.

There was, but nobody came forward to take them and they were suffering. The person in question hadn't the money to pay a vet to "put them down" (i.e. kill them).

Couldn't agree more...joking about eating/killing kittys is just plain sick.

She should be tied down and shot in the face 8-10 times, point blank range with a shotgun. Seriously, a defenceless kitty... Fcuk her so much

It always amazes me that people seem to care more about animals than they do about their fellow human beings.

People are being tortured, starved, persecuted, abused, raped, enslaved, murdered etc. every second of every day but there is outrage over a cat.

I assume that everybody on here who is horrified about the cat is a commited vegetarian...?

Why? People fúck with your life on an almost daily basis. Cats never did a thing to me.

I've eaten pussy lots of times but never tried cat.
Apparently cat is a lot like rabbit, during ww2 they were sold for meat as rabbits. To counteract this, proper rabbits were sold with their ears still on to show that they were legit.

Are you for real? So it's ok to murder people because you interact with them.
Has a cat ever told you that they love you?

Maybe you have a twisted outlook on life because a human being never has.

Assuming you are a man... Would you be comfortable dating or being married to a woman that would kill a small and harmless animal like this? There is outrage at the harm perpetrated on human beings but this story is not about human on human, its about human on animal..equally cruel

Yes, that would be the sensible, rational and appropriate punishment for animal cruelty.
Her 18 month old would grow up without a mother but at least the cat would be back alive...no wait...

I generally microwave dead food. It's a bit difficult trying to get a bullock into a microwave.

I don't abuse my wife. If the next door neighbour reported me for abusing her and she subsequently microwaved the neighbour's cat as an act of revenge I would be shocked but also happy.
You can't equate animal cruelty to that against humans?

Assuming you are not a vegetarian, would you kill your own meat?

Firstly, I don't actually mean it. She should be locked away for a long time.
Her 18 month old would grow up without a mother

Ya, a mother who puts live cats in microwaves.

So you are happy for someone else to kill it on your behalf. As long as meat arrives to your plate in a sanitised manner you are happy enough for animals to die to satisfy your craving for their flesh?
How do you know that the animals you eat were not subject to cruelty?
Does your eating meat but professing to be against animal cruelty not strike you as hypocritical? After all, murder is the ultimate cruelty.

Not just a falling out; a falling out because the cat's owner had tried to help the perpetrator by reporting her abusive partner

Because if we went around being horrified by all the suffering in the world we'd be too traumatised to get anything done. Rest assured that if we heard of cases of people being tortured and abused over here we'd be just as apalled.

Then I suggest that if you ever split with your wife..that you have just read about your perfect woman. I'm sure you could track her down quite easily and live happily until one of you insults the other.. then I recommend that you sleep in the spare room with the door locked and keep a weapon handy.... just in case.

At the moment I'm up a tree collecting the last of the delisous green leaves before there all gone and texting you with wifi

Caring about animals and caring about people are not mutually exclusive. It is possible to abhorr cruelty to either.

Where did I say anything about murder? You asked why people care more about animals than other people. I gave you an answer.

But do keep up your "ain't humanity great" vibe. It's really refreshing.

    Iraq
    Afghanistan
    Syria
    Egypt
    Guantanamo bay
    China
    Catholic Church
    ...

You need to have a sense of perspective.

Pets are not people, they are just domesticated animals.

I wouldn't harm an animal just for the craic buy I'd happily shoot every dog that's allowed to foul our public spaces and potentially spread disease to children.

Stop with the BS, just say it was a horrible act and leave it at that.
No need for you to compare it to human tragedy, we all know how fcuked up the world is.

As for shooting all the dogs that sh!t anywhere you'll be a busy man. Let me contribute to your cause and direct you to the owners. Dogs don't know that it's bad to sh!t in a playground.

People don't care more about animals than they do about their fellow human beings, that argument is illogical and flawed. If you care more about animals than people, you have some serious problems.

People who put cats in microwaves are not people either. They are sub human.
