I think that's part of the problem with rape John Doe, a lot of peeps don't want to be given the sex.

to give you enough money to survive. clothes dont fall into that category for the majority of the year given the irish climate

#social welfare - but they do the CWO will provide a one off payment for clothing if you can't afford, social welfare funds more than survival but after the next few budgets I don't know if that will be the case

Too feckin cold in this country for the question to be anything other than hypothetical.

We should make young fellas walking around with their pinky bare chests out and their tshirts tucked into their waistbands illegal though, that would be great.

wtf surely you can be naked at home ????

Although what happens if you open the door to some pesky cold callers/Tv License Inspector while starkers ? Surely they were asking for it ?

you can be done for being naked in your home if its possible for someone to see in. even if theyre stand up there with their face to the window, you're breaking the law

i think my, odd, point was that it's such a bizarre law and nobody seems in the least bit concerned at why it's still there in this day and age

it's a bit of an unhealthy mentality that many people carry around that naked = sex/pervert/etc

No, to provide you with a certain standard of living, we could severely reduce it if people just had to "survive" on it.

well that's an argument for another day, but imo the social welfare should offer nothing more than the ability to survive, anything else is taking the pìss and hardly conducive to getting people back to work

well if somebody sees you from outside etc you can be deemed breaking the law

I see your argument but, lets be honest, 99% of us are not very attractive with no cloathes on. I dont wanna be going about my day to day buisness looking at auld wans big hairy bushes all day. Just sayin.
    WE ARE THE 1%

you wouldnt even think twice about it if it was a relatively normal occurance, which it could be if it wasnt against the law

well it's legal to wear shorts but you won't find people even wearing those for most of the year. if you don't catch your death of cold in Ireland the dampness will wear you down instead.

bloody hell you'd want to try living somewhere that's ACTUALLY cold. you could almost wear a tshirt year round in ireland compared to even toronto ffs, and it doesn't even get cold cold here

The base temperature isn't so bad in Ireland. We are very windy and that's what chills the bones.
I almost do wear a tee shirt all year around and have a reputation in my family as someone who doesn't get cold easily but I really have to draw the line at having my johnson frozen off :)

It's feckin freezing here - what are you on about?!
And I've been in -27 degrees weather - you just wear your big snow suits and you're grand.
Better than here with the schizophrenic weather that you don't know what to be wearing.

In fairness, the involvement of honey and that alsation probably didn't help much.

When is the case coming up anyway? >_>

You don't need -20 temps to get hypothermic, at the moment it's 10°C here, windy and damp, being exposed to that kind of weather without protection for an extended period will lead to hypothermia. Wind chill and rain are major factors.
People from places like Canada or Northern Europe tend to freeze their asses off here in the winter because of the cold damp Atlantic air (very different to the cold dry air of the north), it creeps into your very soul. :)

It's the dampness that gets you. I've experienced minus 25 to 30 in scandanavia and up the alps and so on and it doesn't feel as cold as +2 on a dreary january morning here.
I actually like the cold and am more or less a perpetual t-shirt wearer but not on a wet and windy winter day - that's ridiculous!
