Inspired by the 'mince pie' thread! Mine is when relations try to better each other by buying better/more presents.

All that cooking, slaving in the kitchen. Sandwich making. The usual things we do at Christmas.

Christmas work dinners, have five to go to this year. They wreck the whole month of December. Thought with the depression companies might cut them out. Said that they are still going ahead in order to raise spirits. If you want to raise spirits give a bonus

The falseness of it all. Wall to wall smiley happy people wishing goodwill to all and sundry while totally ignoring them for the rest of the year.

    Oh, and fuppin' carol singers!!!:(

The presents these days. The mandatory consumer electronics that will be obsolete in two years, things that come with subscriptions, toys, shoite from China, crap cheap tacky decorations, people who havn't lost their Job yet completely overdoing it with tons of lights outside the house

Really how Americanised it's become. Which is strange because all the tangible goods that make it Americanised come from China

Looking forward to Christmas so much and then when it comes you realise how much you can't stand your family and end up praying for the holidays to be over just so you can get away from them all!

Getting pressies and seriously wishing people didn't bother - and folk up to their eyeballs in debt completely over-indulging their kids - madness! If it was toned down and condensed into a 2 weeks max - then I think I would handle it better.

All of it, I hate it with a flaming passion.

Even when I was a small child I disliked Christmas immensely and I still do 20 years later.

    Fecking hate fecking Christmas.

Thats exactly what I was thinking I miss my Ma so much. An ad came on the telly today, some christmas add and I just started bawling knowing I wont have her here with me at christmas.

sad time for some of us

It's near the anniversary of my fathers death. If my father had died at any other time of the year I probably wouldn't remember when his anniversary was approaching. There's no getting away from Christmas though. Any time I look at the television there's something on about Christmas. Any time I go to the supermarket they're playing annoying Christmas songs.

It wouldn't be so bad if this started a couple of weeks before Christmas but I've been hearing about Christmas since bloody October. There's even a shop in Carlow called 'Christmas' that has been here for the last two months.
