Its a funny thing to say!

Racist? Yes of course. He clearly stated black africans, but nothing about white africans.

They do have a habit of shouting. They are really loud.

I think if he had said "Certain quarters of the Nigerian Male community" instead of "Black Africans" the reaction may have been different?

What an idiot. In so many ways.

This guy is either a racist, a complete jerkoff or an idiot or all three. As a public representative, he has a duty to represent all of the electorate and if he doesn't want to do so, he should resign his excessively well-paid sinecure.

Sweeping generalisations and racial stereotyping of the kind that he has demonstrated only encourage and legitimise the attitudes and actions of scumbags who indulge in the casual racism that is all too common in Ireland.

The Finn Gael leadership, especially Enda Kenny, who certainly does not share such despicable views, should make it abundantly clear that it dissociates itself from the views of this rather nasty little man and will not endorse him at the next election.

If creeps like him are not pulled up sharpish when he says such a despicable thing, what will he think of next? Perhaps a big sign on the motorway announcing that "Naas ist jetzt judenrein"?:)

Well that's a much more narrow group and could be justified to some extent by referring to culture, language and practices.

Most black africans do not engage with lrish people in general, so why represent them,

Darren Scully should be fired. Aside from being racist, he is refusing to do his job- representing the people of Naas. Its that simple.

Christ almighty. Someone should tell him that its normal practise for the denizens of many African countries to shout at the top of their voices, wave their hands and generally throw shapes when they are discussing something. Admittedly that sort of behaviour in Ireland's culture usually comes about half a minute before someone gets a shlap, but still, meet in the middle like.

If he said Roma Gypsie After hours would be throwing the Mayor a parade.

The mayor is difinetly ignorant generalizing about all black africans, but no doubt he's saying what he encountered

What if he is telling the truth ?

Unless he has met every black person in Naas, he is discriminating against the others based on their race.

yea I think so. I have had countless problems from mostly Nigerian men? The women have always been lovely. There are many aspects of African culture that I love. I have a Djembe for instance! And I'm a fan of the late great Nigerian genius Fela Kuti! :)

You could make a case that many Irish emigrants have exclusively socialized within Irish communities abroad. Ditto many other white emigrant communities.

Women in general can be as aggressive and threatening in meetings as men, it doesn't matter where they come from. Same goes for people of different nations, no there are aggressive and quiet people from all nations.

Its been said before, he should just tell someone who is becoming aggressive to leave the office/meeting and inform one and all that that is the way aggressive people will be dealt with from now on.

Either way he is a public representative, and he is there to rpresent all, if he is incapable of doing this then he should resign, we already waste enough money on politicians who dont do their jobs.

I don't actually agree with your apraisal of Nigerian males I'm just saying it would be easier for him to justify.

I'd like to ask him would he rather deal with an obnoxious white person or a courteous black person. There are plenty of both in this country.

This is idiotic. Of course he's being racist!

Why the hell didn't he just release a statement saying he wasn't going to represent rude, aggressive people??? I could get behind that.

Deciding that every black, african person who enters Naas, in the past, present or future is not worthy of his representation makes him a racist idiot.

Agree with the Mayor of Naas. Been self employed i stopped taking phone

calls from Nigerians. After a few customers i realised its not worth it,

They just don't get the privce is the price. having to put up with the

shouting, rudness and bad manners off most of them i've dealt with.

Found that the women were by far, more aggressive than the men. Scary race of people.

Maybe, being from another country, Africans are disguisted by the incompetence, uselessness, red tape, beauracy, and condecension of elected officials whereas Irish people have learnt to meekly accept it.

Maybe they are frustrated that coming from a third world country they expect higher standards and are met with backward, racist Gombeens like this in elected positions who when faced with people who are frustrated, instead of doing anything about it, tars them all with one brush, turns his back and refuses to deal with them. Publically.

Seep Blatter makes comments to the effect that comments said in the heat of the moment should be forgotten about after the game and gets rightly pillored from every direction.

An elected representative makes comments like this after careful reflection and people here are supporting him???

I am ashamed to be Irish reading this thread.

As you're screening your calls you must have a relationship with the people trying to contact you to ensure you won't have to answer the phone to them.

IAs it's obviously a regular occurance that you're rowing about prices you must realise it's more likely you and not their race that's the common denominator?

Actually, on the price thing, I can understand that. Some cultures are more inclined to a haggling model where the price stated is a starting position and movement from there is expected. Not that I'm saying this is necessarily the case.

Working in customer service i have found ALL african nigerians to be rude and very hard to deal with, both the men and the women being obnoxious , loud and difficult. I understand this politicians frustration but he should have done it discreetly, not publicly cause the PC brigade will have him for this.

    What a twat.
I am reporting Darren Scully (Naas Mayor) to An Garda Síochána today under the Prohibition of Incitement to Hatred Act 1989.

Does anyone legitimately believe that this is intended to provoke Incitement to Hatred ? This is commonplace in my estimation. I have known school teachers who no longer directly deal with Nigerian parents due to outright beligerence & threats, they are referred to the Principal. This case seems basically similar to that.

Once again an Irish politican makes an eejit of themselves.

For a start why limit it to Black Africans ?
I have met some rather obnoxios arrogant White Africans so why not include them ?
Then also there are the North Africans of Arab extraction.

And shure why not extend to all the Dubs that are living out in Naas what with their dub jerseys and all.
Then there are all the other non Kildare natives who must have something wrong with them for living in Kildare.
Shure next thing you could extend it to the few Kildare natives that are left.

So if I was him I wouldn't deal with anyone.

Just because one group of Africans may be ar**holes and difficult to deal with, one should not tar everyone who happens to be from the same continent and have the same skin colour with the same brush.

Would he refuse to deal with Spanish people becuase French people can be arrogant twats ?

How does he differentiate between black Africans and black people form anywhere else ?
Does he ask for a passport before telling them shag off ?

I am not allowed discuss …

It's not illegal to be racist and I can't see how this would be incitement in any way.
