I wouldn't say Guardiola is that unrealistic of a possibility as he's widely reported to be leaving Barcelona at the end of the season. Although he might want a break from football.

Maybe Wenger could get the Barcelona job at the end of the season btw? Would be amazing for him if he did. I think he'd be an ideal candidate for the job there too. If Pep does leave that is.

I look forward to proposals from those who wanted Wenger gone a few months ago :pac:

Am I the only one thats unimpressed by Gervinho. His first touch is awful and he give away the ball far too often. I've seen him getting praise on here recently and I just don't get it.

I don't believe for one minute all this talk we constantly hear that Guardiola is only in the Barca job for the short term. I could see him still being there in ten years time. The club is his life and he'll never get a better job than this one - the best team in the world, with the best youth set up, plenty money to spend and to cap it all off all this at the club he has supported and played for since he was a kid.

I wonder how all those lads who wanted Wenger gone feel now btw. They will only realise how good he was when he's gone. I have so much time and respect for the man, a great manager and rival over the years.

A few weeks ago I was praising Gervinho and slagging off Walcott. I must look like a bit of an idiot today

No I think Guardiola will definately leave this season.

Anyone know who much more Andy Caroll cost than Van Persie?:D

I don't understand it myself but Guardiola himself is always hinting at leaving and there is a feeling among many Barca fans that he'll leave at the end of the season.
    Guardiola

"My future will be very tough," he admitted. "I'll be at another club, trying to find these type of players... But maybe that will be a great challenge for me, to take the players I will have at that club and try to get them to reach their top level, no?"

Oh yeah I've heard him say it a lot etc I just don't really believe him.

It would be very interesting to see how another manager would fare with that squad - how much of it is down to Pep and how much is down to just how ridiculously talented they are?

Sorry lads I know its the wrong thread.

    Andy Carroll: £35m
    Robin van Persie: ~£3m

Now, van Persie was six or seven years earlier so it's not as simple as saying £32m in the difference. But, taking that into account, it would still be close to £30m in the difference. If he hadn't been injured so much during his time here, van Persie would have been the steal of the century. Imagine if he was as good every year as he has been in 2011!

I wonder why he keeps saying it then? I suppose there always seems to be a lot of political tension at Barca.

With regards the player talent vs managerial ability argument, really is hard to say, we'd only ever find out if Pep left.

Posturing for better terms/transfer funds/freedom to run the footballing affairs of the club maybe?

Costwise: Carroll = 12.7 van Persies
Abilitywise: van Persie = 12.7 Carrolls

Now that they might actually be getting their wish of seeing him leave the club! Could be a case of being careful what you wish for...

I think we can all agree the nightmare would be if RVP and Le Boss left in the same window.

I am looking forward to the Stojković era if it happens. Wenger has named him as potential successor more than once

    Good win today!

There you go. He would only consider it if he finished below what's expected of him. Wenger is going nowhere next summer.

After 12 games last season Arsenal had 23 pts. After 12 games this season we have 22 + scored 1 more goal than last but let in 11 more

So we're basically where we were last season

I think it's pretty unlikely Arsenal will collapse as badly as they did in the second half of last season so I'd say your better off really than last season.

So, who wants to sign Henry for the second half of the season as a backup player / mentor for the young players?

I wouldnt mind it provided he doesnt expect huge wages and being the first name on the team sheet every week. I've seen him a few times in MLS and his pace isnt what it used to be but otherwise he's still pretty damn great.

    Less slagging of the Gerv.

1: He creates huge amounts of space

2: If he could finish a decent proportion of the chances that come his way, he'd be messi like.

IMO he's been a great addition, electric. Far less skilled than Nasri but so much more effective because he does everything three times as fast.
