    Yawn. Old debate is old.

Relevant point was made. Just because you don't like it you dismiss. Very convenient.

No it shows that the cameras were pointed at Terry during the moment it happened. Well until the view was obscured anyway.

Anyway, a member of the public reported the Finnan incident with Evra and that has been used here as a stick to beat Evra.

I've never once on this thread mentioned Finnan.

Why didn't Man United report it to the police?

Is that the real Eboue? I'll assume not since a legend like himself would have more than 11,000 followers.

Be an interesting path if the FA go down the route of banning everyone that says anything nasty to anyone else on the pitch in any circumstances.

You excell at insulting your fellow posters. How so pal?

Surely the FA are not proceeding with this if it's just one players word against another ?

That would be madness on more fronts than I care to mention .

If Suarez has indeed told the FA he said negrito as has been widely discussed then they have it from the horse's mouth so to speak and all that remains is to make a decision on whether he's as innocent as he claims. Its gone beyond whether Evra was telling the truth or even whether he had a right to be angry.

Some of the papers have said that some United players have given evidence.

But i seem to rememberthe papers saying that 3 QPR players were giving evidence against Terry only for QPR to refute it.

To be fair, nobody actually knows what evidence the FA are working on

I understand that but then Suarez must have been presented with video evidence of some incident and asked to explain ,or he honestly and straightforwardly said I called him Negrito which in my country is not offensive.

That's totally unacceptable by Suarez as he hasn't familarised himself with what's acceptable language in the UK but it's a million miles from putting him in the same bracket as a cone hooded member of the KKK .

Cause at the end of the day sadly thats what the majority will seem him as-Numptys !

More stupidity than racism if you ask me but we will just have to wait and see .

But Bellend hasn't helped his case one bit .

Or we must consider the possibility that he knew exactly what he was saying and the fact its used as a term of endearment in Uruguay is a convenient line to use. Not saying thats what happened but it is possible.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,832 ✭✭✭✭Blatter

Another interesting question is how culturally accepted the word negrito is in Holland as Suarez spent the guts of 5 years living over there. I'm guessing it wouldn't be taken well by black people(from white people anyway) over there. If that is the case, then Suarez really should have known better. If he said it of course.

Out of his own free will did he come out and say yes I called him Negrito ?

    If so he is either ;
Extremely honest - shows character after realising his mistake/translation.
Extremely stupid. - coulda kept his mouth shut .
Extremly twisted. - kinda doesn't give a **** and tells FA similar .

I'm swaying towards the top answer but I am biased .

When did I say you had mentioned Finnan? I said "that has been used here as a stick to beat Evra". Nowhere in that sentence does it mention you. However, that incident has been mentioned on this thread. By OTHER people than you.

I am not Man United. I don't know whether it was reported or why they didn't if it was not reported. That doesn't really have anything to do with my point though. My point was that the Terry incident was only reported because it happened on live TV. Much like the previous Finnan/Evra incident.

Unless of course its the first time he used the term on the field of play since he left the shores of Uruguay all those years ago? Which begs the question why he chose that particular game and that particular opponent upon whom to try out a bit of the vernacular from the old country?

Many questions to be answered indeed.

Who knows? All I'm saying is the possibility exists that he knew exactly what he was saying and pointing out you failed to even consider that in your post.

Yes, that is the other question.

I can only imagine that he's said that he's used it on a football field before, because if it was his first time it would look very bad.

Edit: Do the FA always release a detailed report of an investigation to the public when a verdict is reached, or do they release certain reports at their own discretion?

This crossed my mind aswell but where are the previous incidents ? Surely it would have happened before .
Plenty of black players in Holland .

Character references ? ..The Ajax supporters and management gave him a send off like I never seen before .
He was so well liked .Surely if he was a racist bigot it would have surfaced in his 5yrs there ...

Really is a weird case this .

Again the first question I'd ask there was had he used it on a black player?

It would surprise me if he had used it on a black player, with no inside knowledge of Uruguayan slang and the matter of racist connotations hadn't arisen before.

There can be a difference in being an 'absolute' racist and using a racist slur.

    Both are wholly unacceptable though.

He is under such scrutiny because he is alleged to have used a racist slur. The fact that he hasn't used one before isn't really a very strong defence.

I doubt anyone genuinely believes him to be a fully signed up KKK member of anything.

Don't get childish. You posted a reply clearly indicating that I was saying that you had mentioned Finnan. I did also follow up that line with further clarification intead of the childish game of oneupmanship you are now doing.

    This thread is still ridiculous.

Police believe they have enough evidence to charge John Terry. See the Daily Mirror's front page exclusive.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,235 ✭✭✭✭flahavaj

If they "believe" they have enough evidence then why not just charge him? Gotta love the tabloids.

It's not being childish. you reproached me for something and carried on to do the same thing yourself.

you impied i said you were Man United.
    I didn't

Someone suggests last night that it could be the FA making noise about this to distract away from captain England .

Now I dont believe that for a sec as I know what the England FA are ,and aren't, but destroying one players cred to preserve another's is not something I have them down as .
But what's the delay in the Terry case ...surely he can't walk with the video evidence etc ??

Or am I naive to be waiting to hear his charge any day now ?
