Why did they put the lime barrel and turkish delight in the Milk Tray?

These were the sweets left behind in the box on the day after Boxing Day.

My brother and I used to carry out fire-related experiments on them in the end because they were too awful to eat.

Ugh, Quality Street... the amount of toffees that are left over after Christmas 'cos no one at all in the entire world wants them could suck out the remainder of Shane McGowan's teeth.

Roses are definitely gone to the dogs! I miss the truffle (square sweet in a blue foil wrapper) and the praline
    :D

Oh and you know when they changed the wrappers it was to reduce the size of the sweets cha ching.

    I miss the square truffle.
    AND NO MALTERSERS TRUFFLE? whaa

It's okay I don't eat chocolate usually but when I do.. truffles do me grand.

This is a really thought out and investigated thread. I am not a fan of Roses myself but did like the Barrell (which I didn't realise ws still in it) and also the coffee sweet. Regarding Celebrations....I will never buy another box now that I have heard there are no more Galaxy Truffles..
    Shocking:eek:

If I may just draw a seasonal chocolate to your attention . The Quality Street Big Purple One is no longer available. It has now been made into a bar. I think people will be as shocked as I am at this

I guess these changes are so supermarkets can sell them for €5.95 per tin. I'd rather pay for quality.

Regarding Roses, I complained 2 years ago when changes were creeping in. I found a lot of the sweets tasted different e.g. the toffee one became more like caramel it was so soft. Carburys response was that they shifted production to the UK.

I've also noticed this year that Roses are 850g. I'm pretty sure they always used to be 1kg.

I will always love Roses simply for the purple one with the nut & caramel.

I'd eat just a tin of those, the rest are a bit meh.

What's worse is I wrote all that and accidentally pressed refresh so had to do it again. No idea why I did tbh. Poor fare from the early repliers in the war for thanks btw

Why didn't you just press back and then copy/paste it?

Even a noob like me knows that:pac:

Too much of a noob to know that doesn't work with a refresh.

The maltesers are still in the celebrations right? RIGHT?? they're the best, and second best is the galaxy truffle. My sister gets the tins in for christmas so gets to them before everyone else and eats all the good ones.

A tin of purples would outsell the normal tin

    Celebrations have ditched Galaxy Truffles?

That would explain my not finding any when there was a tin going round at work recently...

... Quality Street it is so this year... Roses are utter mank. Heroes=Meh.

Are they? Fúck everything, now Xmas is ruined! Seriously, that was one of the best things about this time of the year.

 If anybody needs me Ill be getting drunk and crying in the corner. Hell, that wont even be an enjoyable activity anymore now due to having no truffles to eat.

    Im genuinly pissed off now.

The main problem with Roses is not so much the sweets themselves but the fact that they keep changing them. Every year a box of Roses is different which p*sses people off. I'm no expert on marketing but from my experience, people simply hate change. Especially when it comes to Christmas sweets which are so tied up with in tradition and nostalgia. Buy a tin of Roses and you have no idea what you're going to get. Quality Street have always remained dependable. Get your act together Cadbury's

Spot on once again Missus :P
Tho it seems the Galaxy Truffle has disappeared which is a major worry for sweet lovers everywhere!

I like a good bounty one every now and again too! Tbh I'd eat them all but Mars and Milky Way are the two poor relations of the tin for me!
