Were getting sky in our new place -- it's my first time dealing with them myself, so have you guys any tips on how to get the cheapest/best deal?

They're being complete dicks atm. Just called an hour ago and wanted them to give me a new box as I've had my Thomson for over 3 years and it's starting to play up on playback. Have had the full package for over 15 years with them and the best he could do was €149 for a new 1TB + €60 for a call out.

Asked for cancellations and got offered a free call out to sort the problem and half price HD for the year.

Not brilliant but it's a start.

The package I was on was 32 per month I think, and I had Sky Sports 1 for 19 (so 51 per month total).

The missus rang up to add one movie channel (to which they told her obviously she'd have to order the whole movie package) she said she'll leave it as its too expensive, so they gave us all the movies, and the full Sky Sports pack for 20 a month. Noyce :D

So we're paying 1 euro extra, but have all the movies and sports channels :)

(can't remember for how long we have that deal, but even if its only 3 months its super)

I just rang as my Sky+ multiroom box hard drive has gone. I was offered the Sky+HD1Tb for €209 with installation or Sky+HD for €259 I found it werid offering the normal hd box for €50 more. So then I said that is very expensive and she said hold on I will check for offers, she came back and said no offers so I said here i am paying €106 a month and thats the best you can do, then i said I am cancelling when she quickly put me through to her colleague and he offered me a free call out from engineer. I said he better replace it with a sky+hd box. Sky said ohhh its what ever he has. So it better be able to record like my old box.

just s slight difference ie its not a cancelletation query but rather as a new customer they've overcharged me e15 per month for the last 2 months heading into 3rd month, slow as a wet week to correct it, can I hassle them for some free HD or something as well as a refund? cheeky I know but its cost me a fortune in time and a registered letter also cost me e5 to write and complain about the overcharge as dare you try and do it over the phone

I got my subscription halved for six months (actually was free for the first two) when I called to cancel. The deal ends this weekend so I'm going to ring up and and cancel again. I'm prepared to cancel it as I already have a better Freesat box than my $ky box if they don't make me at least the same offer again.

rang sky there as a first time customer. All channels incl, movies, sports ESPN and HD €91 per month.
Asked any special offers like 25% discounts or 2 months movies free, guy said no.
Obviously interested in retaining existing customers rather then gaining new ones.

Really want Sky HD in time for Christmas, currently have Sky+ old white box. Seems mad to pay full price for it when I could just call and say I want to cancel and see what happens. On the other hand, do I want to be the parent who cancelled sky a week before Christmas? What do you think my chances are?

If cancellations offer you a new one then happy days.If they don't then tell cancellations you might hold off cancelling until after Christmas.;)
