Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Mantra? Or somewhere a bit easier to chat to people first, then mantra??

Or does Maynooth only suit North Kildare people?? (not that we want anyone from Athy or places like that travelling up or anything....:p)

You won't catch me setting foot in that kip at any time of the night. One of the pubs. I'm a fan of Brady's myself.

    Brady's is a great spot.

I was barred from there about 6 years ago, some tall streak of misery seemed to think I was acting the maggot in the upstairs part.

last time me and 2 friends darkened their door (about 3 years ago) that chap was still there and told us to leave.

I wouldn't mind if i HAD been guilty of whatever that lad reckons i did, then its a fair cop.

I wouldn't bother with Brady's, whether or not that lad is still there.

Does it count if i work in Maynooth but not live there? :D

I did live in Maynooth for 4 years before i got my own place in Dunshaughlin.:o

I have only been out a few times in Maynooth.

Mantra is nice during the day for lunch but I don't think I could deal with it at night.

Bradys has a session on a Thursday night.

I was in O'Neills once and it seemed nice.

The Roost is good too, but during the week its full of students. I like the Roost at the weekend, nice crowd, good bands etc.

Sure why not add a poll to with towns and see what happens?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,081 ✭✭✭LeixlipRed

I can sense this being a male dominated event already, the men of Kildare descending on a pub somewhere in the hunt for that famed and uncommon thing, "a woman on the internet" :D

All north Kildare suggestions :( Will be no beer for me if that's the case. A glass of fanta and maybe some tayto before I drive home!

  • Moderators, Education Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 18,968 Mod ✭✭✭✭Moonbeam

There are definitely no women on the internet, stop the vicious rumors!!
The poor young men would not know what to with themselves but Maynooth tis full of nice young women;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,805 ✭✭✭Rothmans

I'd be up for a Maynooth beers anyway because its practically in Dublin, I could get a 66 home :p
But would it be early in the evening or what???

New Roost front bar is very cosy, or the glenroyal bar has a cosy reserve-able area at the back corner of the main bar

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,898 ✭✭✭daheff

how about instead of people deciding on the town...assign a town to presidential hopefuls? whichever gets elected is where the beers are on!

    Michael D - maynooth
    Sean Gallagher - naas
    Martin McGuinness - Newbridge
    David norris -Celbridge
    Gay Mitchell - Kildare Town
    Mary Davis - Kilcullen
    Dana - Leixlip

How come we get stuck with Norris

    I call shenanigans!!!!

Having McGuinness in the first draft was bad enough, but to be downgraded to Dana????? Has daheff something against leixlip??

Glenroyal=Worst pint in Maynooth. And no atmosphere in that place at all. Any of the pubs would be better.
Haven't been in the new Roost yet.

[edit]I'll be in Brady's tonight to watch the Munster game if anyone's about for an impromptu beers.

I can't remember having a complaint about the Heineken quality last time I was there a couple of months back, but no prob with the atmos in the back corner. I'd agree about the open area though.

Poll closes tomorrow. Naas and Maynooth now level. For me Naas has the better pubs and is more central.
