I think german style font can look quite delightful on some classic marques.

Far more tossery are people who pre book and pay for number plates like 10 - D - 101010

    Fkin binary loving steamers.

Not as bad as those green coats that have a small German flag on the arms.

I never knew that seeing a coat can be so annoying.

So people that have them are tossers? How do you figure that if their taste is to put a different font on their own property? Or would that just be a sweeping generalisation with no back-up whatsoever?

    ;):P

Off topic but shouldn't a mod normally state on a thread when it's moved? I got a ban from PI before for posting a smart ass reply on an AH thread that was moved after I posted. Didn't bother me all that much as I don't frequent PI anyhow! ;)

    Because their owners like them.
The same as some owners will buy Fiats and Renaults.

Strangely enough, mine were all stuck to vehicles in Germany. You know where they use German reg plates.

WTF is the point in having them here. The "ah sure its ok" attitude in Ireland when it comes to enforcing the law is ridiculous.

You didn't say that though did you :D

As for people putting them on here and the law..
There is no law saying you cannot use them.

Yeah, I've been spotting loads of non-German cars with German plates on them lately.
Fair enough on an M5 but not on a Starlet.

I'd never have them on anything.

No, he's right, there was a study done on german plates a while back, the findings were that people with them are indeed tossers, and the plates are naff. Professor Hans Gruber who conducted the survey said "the worse people we found were the ones that thought it was ok on a german marque, but wrong on all other makes".

I notice quite a few cars with plastic number plates and German font of late... a half baked effort if you will, if you are gonna go for German number plates at least get pressed metal ones.

In general I don't find German number plates overly offensive looking, reason being is there are cars with far worse tat stuck onto them. Just as an example, mid 90's Corollas and Lancers with newer BMW and Volvo type aerials stuck on the roof. Having said that German plates do look quite naff on some cars, no doubt about it

Amazing the opinions people take the time to put into words , they are number plates on somebody elses car why does it bother some people so much , get on with your own lives or just sit looking at the mirror telling yourself how great your take on everything is and that should make you happy or would it......

I didn't judge , first I made a comment about what amazed me , then I asked a couple of questions with an alternate activity to looking at number plates thrown in. Sorry if you felt judged or was that your chance to post a humorous comment and you just couldn't pass up the opportunity?

There are three types of people in the world, those who understand the binary system and those who don't ;)

    The second one.
Sorry if it seemed like I was having a go. :o
