I know I can't take out cash more than a grand a day, but say I was getting some work done that cost €1,500 - €2,000 would that go through? I've never tried before.

    Thanks.

Don't be silly. Buy as many plasma screen TVs as you can off amazon. When your card is rejected, you'll know the limit. Then you can cancel the order. Or not, whatever.

If you have the funds in your account, it should go through.

Incorrect!!! Max you can do in 1 transaction is E1500. Max you can do in 1 day is E2500.

Maybe. I'm pretty sure I made a transaction of around that amount a while back when I actually had money.

That'll only give ballpark. You need to start buying 1 cent sweets with your laser card up to about 3000.

OP; You wont truly know where the limit is until you push past it and exceed it just a little bit

Q: Is there a ceiling limit on the value that can be spent on a Laser Card?
A: The Laser Scheme does not incur a maximum transaction limit for Laser Card transactions. However, each Laser Card issuer may set their own customer parameters relating to the amount that can be spent or the number of transactions that can take place on a daily basis. For information on your card issuer’s specific limits consult your bank’s terms and conditions or contact them directly.

    meh

my laser card only allows me to take the amount of money I have in my bank account so .... I can take out about 15euro ..... thats my max limit !!

OP - you can take out what you want .... as long as you have the overdraft facility in place or goto the bank and ask them can you withdraw your money.

I always thought the laser cards were a kind of debit card, you only are allowed what you have in your acc.

I am actually going to the AIB tomorrow to see can I get an actual debit card. That way I can shop on the internet and have my wages lodged into it.

At the moment I have a Laser for wages and a CC for shopping and other services. What that means is I pay 2 taxes on each card, a rip off i say.

I used mine for €1600 worth of work to my car. Garage just had to ring to confirm the transaction.

Thanks, I think my bill will come to around €1,900 give or take.. don't want to be embarrassed if the card doesn't allow the transaction.

The maximum from an ATM is 700, but afaik theres no limit outside that

I suppose everyone is different depends on the card, your salary, your bank and type of bank account you have I suppose. Though I always thought €1,500 was the maximum or was it €2,000 what ever it is its stated in the leaflet and form you fill out when applying for the laser!

For ATM I can only take out a maximum of 300 euro but that's probably down to the bank account I have while anyone else I know can take out 600. I suppose all depends really.

The only way you'll know for sure is by asking your bank. Even if someone here did manage to make a transaction of that amount, it doesn't mean you'll be able to.

1500. You can put through 2 transactions anyway if your bill is above 1500.
