Because they haven't played against a team that went down to ten men, had a poor midfield, and then gave up.

They were the much better team before the sending off.
But they had only scored one goal, even against the run of play, the reason they are mediocre is because nobody they faced so far played as poor as we did today.

They have been in the champions league, which is what we're talking about.

IF this seasons performances in the CL are taken into account, then by the same standard man u are a mediocre team.

are a mediocre team =/= have been mediocre. you took that out of context. but yes United have been mediocre in the CL, the difference is that we can afford to be.

City deserved their win and the fans deserve to enjoy it, but there is still a lot to play for.

Utd have been mediocre at best in the CL aswell tbh.

I'm not saying they're a bad club, played fantastic today, we played shiite, but they have looked mediocre in the CL when faced with decent opposition (bayern).

So far anyway, I definitely expect them to be challenging for the cup when it comes down to it.

Well done to City, utterly deserved and comprehensive victory.

Anybody catch the little stamp Evra gave Silva? Was over at the game so haven't seen it televised. Happened right in front of me and the City players definitely noticed it.

Don't recall what minute but it happened early on when Anderson made a hard, but seemingly fair, slide tackle that resulted in a free on the edge of the Utd. box. Silva was on the ground and Evra kind of walked on him.

Thought it was a fantastic game of football. All credit to City, they were magnificent. United did well to try and get themselves back into the game though. Wasn't pleased with Young though, that boy didn't even try to play football, went down left, right and centre.

He also took a horrendous dive in the first half.

Rooney appeared to take one too looking for a peno.

It's frustrating the way English players never get called on it in the media that is so quick to vilify the likes of Suarez, Ngog, Nani etc for the often milder offence of going down easy under actual fouls.

Typical example was the Liverpool/Utd game last week, Young & Downing take horrendous dives during the game but people are only really interested in criticising Suarez for his simulation, despite not taking a dive at all during the game.

    Very frustrating.

The English media ignores cheating English players. I thought Downings dive last week was an absolute disgrace and would have liked to have seen Kenny pull him up on it and maybe dropped him yesterday.

Drop him for diving because he's English?

Just watched Fergusons post match interview and it came accross very weird .
It was like he was totally exonerating himself of all responsibilty and blaming the two CB for the high loss of goals .
Is he or is he not the manager ?

    Bizarre.

Not trying to take away from City's win but a small reality check here. Had Smalling scored from that header in the 86th minute it wouldn't have been out of the question for United to get a point from the game. The last seven or eight minutes of that game were totally freakish.

    Just saying is all....

If Dzeko had taken a couple of his other chances it could have been 7 or 8. It wasn't though it was 6-1 :D.

    Just sayin like

    an unbelievable game.

it was looking worrying for City up to about 25 minutes. they were hemmed in a bit, even though Utd couldn't find a way through to even make a decent chance. Silva was starved of good ball, the pressure was awesome, and Aguero and Balotelli were isolated.

the only problem was that once City got any sort of foothold in the Utd half, it seemed as though they were dangerous.

Silva is THE key. he will be the difference between them going all the way to the title and falling short. he's a true difference maker, and has that imagination and weight of ball that creates chances. sublime.

and so it seemed, because he created the space for Milner for that first goal for Balotelli - a sweet, sweet finish. then did it again for the second. the guy is a genius.

Evans was a numpty for the sending off. he can't have any complaints. and between that and the second goal, Utd seemed to stop fighting by and large, which is very very surprising, and City controlled things with ease. they had just shaded the play up to the second goal, but after that, it was a masterclass of picking off opposition.

this will be painful for Utd fans, but they will still be there or thereabouts in the league, for the simple reason that there is nobody better at putting away the shítter teams in the League. what would worry me is their ability to really control games against the better teams.

    today.
Liverpool last week (one chance, one goal).
Chelsea (the 3-1 victory was a very weird scoreline for that game considering Chelsea had over 20 efforts).

there's a lack of something there, whether it's that midfielder that's often mooted, or whether Evra needs caning, or Rio is past it...Utd fans would know better, but there seems to be something missing against top quality teams IMO.

as for City, this SHOULD give them a world of confidence. and the important thing now for them is that next week they consolidate, and don't let this epic win be wasted.

that is the difference between just "memorable moments" and League Championships.

oh, and did i mention? Silva is fúcking fapworthy :D
