He was rested against Wigan, I think as he had played for Bosnia in the Internationals, that was part of the reasoning.

You don't really rest a player that's in the middle of a hot streak like that though, especially a player that was struggling beforehand, it was odd enough.

I thought he was just dropped because the saviour Mr.Tevez was back.
    Daft from Mancini imo.

It'll be interesting to see City's approach to the game. Mancini has been lauded this season for releasing the shackles and letting them play to their ridiculous attacking potential. But going to Old Trafford top of the table, you wonder if he'll be more conservative and look to securing the point that would keep them there.

Neither side has been a bedrock of defensive brilliance this season, while both have some of the league's best and in-form attacking players. Accordingly I could see a high-scoring draw, though my heart says a close United win.

As crazy as this sounds I think the last thing on the managers mind is 3 points .
If ever there was a game that purely boiled down to a psychological battle .. this is it .

IMO neither team can afford to loose this battle .

If UTD win it could be enough to shut up all main rivals and to push on for the title .

If City win then it could be the start of the momentum and new era/stars which is bound to find it's feet eventually .

    Fascinating game .

united have home advantage, but a trip home from romania on tuesday sees city with a big advantage there. uniteds record after away european games is appaling, practically all of our dropped points come the weekend after european aways or international games.

At least it was a Tuesday night fixture midweek and the game is on Sunday.

Could have been Wednesday and Saturday, which would have been way worst.

#MUFC De Gea, Evra, Ferdinand, Evans, Smalling, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani, Young, Rooney, Welbeck

    Why no vidic?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 41,926 ✭✭✭✭_blank_

Fletcher needs to "let Silva know he's in a game" early on.

De Jong, I think, will keep Rooney quiet.

    ...also

    Evans.

    Game over.

    no Jones?

    interesting.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,838 ✭✭✭✭3hn2givr7mx1sc

Evans is the best replacement for Vidic alongside Ferdinand in a game like this, imo.
I don't like Rio and Smalling together and Jones is still quite inexperienced and would be put under a lot of pressure against City's attack.

    Yaya in for De Jong.

    interesting.

He can't play him midfield and I think SAF sees his lack of positional awareness at the back as a risk too far , especially against the likes of Aguero.
