Thanks, I'll go up and have a look, if its there, great stuff!

No worries, hopefully it's still there! Also hopefully I wasn't imagining it!

This arrived today, a 4GB CF card IDE hard drive for the Amiga 600(although its identical to the Amiga 1200 version anyway) This version comes with the OS and games/apps already installed and ready to run.
You install this inside an Amiga 600 or 1200 as it works with both and the software is the same.

It was about 50 Euro on ebay inc postage.

The guy who sells them knows what he's at as well as he uses the transcend 133x 4gb card which is the most compatible card I've used with Amiga's.

Guys, I just found a game shop at the top of Grafton street, selling loads of second hand stuff... PS1 games were mad expensive, but they have some cool pre owned peripherals

    Got these two for €9.99

Official Logitech playstation headset (Was in town to splash out on a €80 for the missus to do commentaries!)

Amazing collection Ghostchant! Absolutely fantastic selection of video games. I have to ask you one question though - why don't you remove the price tags from the boxes?? That would drive me nuts looking at them on such lovely artwork.... :)

GAME usually sells it for less than twenty notes, but to be honest with you, I'd buy it at any price mate as its is a truly astounding video game. Its one of the best games to be released in my view this last decade or so, and its got quite the cult following. I don't know any other games that are just so compelling to play. Prepare to lose a lot of time to it once you get into it....

I remember hearing bad things about Disgaea DS? Have the PSP version myself which is fantastic - must have got it in a PSN sale and euro to time ratio is very favourable. Playing Disgaea 4 at the moment and it's a big improvement over Disgaea 3 in terms of difficulty curve, story and characters. I'm sure a handheld port shall show up a few years hence.

Yeah I had a look on Friday, was there for €20, dont know why but decided not to get it, might get it tomorrow.

Just thought I would upload a photo of this new addiction of collecting DS games I have gotten over the past two weeks.

Also, thats Super mario Sunshine, got it in Cex for €10, people on adverts trying to sell it for €15 or more, Great game but wouldnt pay more than €10 for it.

EDIT: Anyone on here bought 'Alien: Infestation' yet? Saw it friday too, was tempted, heard good things.

Collecting for DS is very addictive as games are readily available, there's loads of good software, and its relatively cheap. Plus there are a few rare games to keep an eye out for too, which makes it very interesting.

The only issue I see with it is playing on a smaller screen. I think Disgaea is best played on a telly, though the PSP port is excellent.

I'm strongly considering getting a PS3 over Christmas and will get the third and fourth iterations along with ti I think. One of the best series of video games out there I think.

Laziness to be honest! I'll get around to it eventually, but the way I store them I'm normally only looking at the spines. Also I'd rather look at a price tag than at the awful residue some of the stickers leave.

Picked it up day of release, but haven't played it yet due to the PSP dominating my gaming time at the moment. Looking forward to starting it though, have also heard good things

Makes sense I suppose - some stickers are a nightmare to get off like Gamestop's. Also GAME's stickers on manuals for second hand games - so annoying

Got myself one of those Playstation 1s the lad on advert is selling, loads of them found in a warehouse or something. They are 100% brand new in the box. he even opened a large cardboard box containing four of them in front of me to get my one. i think a few on here have bought them already, just thought i would post again.

My kickstart 40.63 chip for the Amiga 600 arrived this evening from the US.

    dsc5401z.jpg

    dsc5403r.jpg

The chip I had in the A600 was the very first version and didn't support pcmcia or hard drives.

Now, time to get my chip removal tool and get to work pulling the old one from the board and sticking this one in. Putting this one in will be fine but a lot of the older kickstart chips that are sitting inside Amigas are not the best build quality and have a tendancy to have loose chip prongs etc and I don't want to break the original chip in the removal process.

Some of the bits and pieces I've got recently for hooking up the jtag to the cab - well it connects directly to the cab just fine using a 360 VGA/stereo cable but the stuff below will get it to output a low res picture (hopefully) and makes the shmups look way better than they do at 640x480 (see youtube vid below). Big thanks to ondafly for alerting me to the Extron. :D Also picked up a video/audio switcher from Lindy.ie so I can easier switch between the mame pc and xbox just by lifting up the cp, saves me having to open up the cab proper.

It all hooks up something like the following: 360 rgb scart out > sync strike > vga to Extron > bnc to vga > cab monitor. Although I'll also have the video/audio switcher before the cab monitor (it doesn't alter the signal at all).

Xbox 360 RGB scart cable & Sync Strike:

    syncstrike.jpg

Extron RGB 580xi & BNC to VGA cable:

    extronrgb580xi.jpg

Skip to 12min 40s to see the output via the Extron:

I'm not fully there yet myself unfortunately. I have the jtag but not inside the cab, it needs to stand up space wise but because of the way it was put together I can't stand it up, so some work to be done on it yet. Also waiting to hear back from Doc about pad hacks. So atm if I want to jtag on the cab it's via a usb arcade stick, fine but not the same. It's also a pain in the arse having to lug the thing downstairs to play it or test things out and then back up again because I can't leave it inside the cab (I defo can't leave it outside the cab with my Seimitsu testers prowling around).

I have 2 hacked pads on the way from a guy who does them over on Arcade Otaku (HarumaN I think his name is and he gets great reviews on AO and other sites as well).
I got him to make them in a slightly different way that I hope might pay off.
Basically they are made normally but connected to a jamma fingerboard. So plug and play but I can change what xbox buttons are mapped to what arcade button if I want to.

I've no Seimitsu/sanwa testers myself (apart from the dogs and the gf) so I don't have that prob :D

This is my temp setup at the moment. MVS inside the cab and 360 outside.
Not too happy about the vga cable but what can ya do.

That's pretty neat setup in fairness. Long as the dog doesn't go jumping on the vga then you're fine, hence the strategically placed stool I reckon. :) Mine is under a duvet cover with a strategically placed chair at the side.

Yeah I spotted that thread by HarumaN, his works looks excellent, would be interested to see your setup when it's done. That post by FrancoB about using JST-YL type connectors for plug n play got me thinking that way also. When I get my pad hacks I really just want the wires coming from the pad or maybe to a terminal strip - I got some of the JST-YL connections (15 & 12 pin) recently, same as yourself I see, and will wire them to the wires coming from the pad hacks - again the plan is that I'll just need to lift up the cp and unplug the original JST-YL connections to the Jamma loom and plug in the ones from the pad hack. I need a few extra to accommodate buttons 4,5 and 6 for both players though and those wires currently come from the JPac directly to those buttons. Lol that's probably confusing as hell but I can see how it will work in my head. :o

Yeah, I know what ya mean :D

I was supposed to be getting a 2 player 6 button cpanel from a guy on AO but he's been out of contact for a month so I guess I'll need to look elsewhere for it. I even got all the buttons and other bits for it and then he disappeared :(
I wanted the panel and buttons all installed for when the hacked pads arrived but I guess that's not going to happen.

I've not done a lot with the candy in ages really as I've just been a bit mental busy but I did install 2 hidden mini buttons on the bottom of the control panel assembly to be used for whatever at a later date.

One of these buttons on each side:
    dsc5436a.jpg

Now the next big job is to get this new monitor installed and setup.

Oh, by the way. This is the keyboard/mouse/pad that I'll be using with the Hyperspin/MAME pc for when I need to do change any settings or do anything pc related without having a massive keyboard in there. It just sits inside the cpanel. I think I mentioned it to you before when you got something similar.

Ooh nice! I do like those stealth buttons. Hmmmm, one to power the PC, one to power the jtag... :) Was is this chap you used? http://www.arcadeshop.de/Special-Mini-Miniature-Button-white_523.html, think you might have linked it before.

Regarding the wireless kb - I presume it has a USB type dongle that attaches to the pc? I still have a bog standard PS/2 kb inside my cab attached to the JPac - I have a usb to PS/2 adapter and was thinking could I just use that and the wireless kb with the JPac instead - not sure if it would work or if it means the wireless kb would need to be on all the time etc. Must test that out.

Lol @Pyong, you'll get that Windy someday. :)

Haha, I must say though I really do prefer the colours of my Egret 3.

Maybe I'll get one of those for my second candy(coming December 2011/Jan 2012).
Although an Egret 2 is making its way to the top of my list at the moment.

I live in hope. Don't see many of them about but it's definitely my cab of choice. I don't care what people say about them, they're absolutely deadly cabs. There's one out there waiting for me to mind it with Mille Miglia and Cave PCB's. It'll find it's way home to me one day. :D

Right now the only Windy I'm getting at the moment is from my wife's lasagne. :(

Yeah, that's the button all right. I got it in a few colours to see what worked best.

On another note this arrived a few mins ago.

    dsc5433.jpg

An official (new and sealed) dust cover for the Amiga 600.
Not the most exciting thing in the world but I'm on a mission to find dust covers for as many consoles and computers as I can at the moment.

So if anyone knows of any good sources for them let me know.
I found a guy in the states that makes them up for most consoles but I'd prefer original ones or at least a source a bit closer to home.

Have you had your home alarm system serviced recently? :D

In seriousness though, definitely consider a Windy or the Windy II. They are considered the ultimate cab for SHMUPS by shooting game connosieurs apparently.

I love that but I also love the design of them and the cool yoke at the top. Bung in a couple of LS-56-01's and a stack of Cave PCB's and you'll be literally nuzzling at the teet of the pearly gates!

I'm currently seeking a 500 yard restraining order on my wife to be enforced circa Jan-Mar 2012, roughly the same time I'm looking to purchase a Konami Windy. :pac:

Already done that! I'm mulling over giving back the six counties in exchange for a Konami Windy for Christmas. :D

As for the project, I don't really want to say too much right now as it might not be worth my while doing it. Just investigating costs and what not. It's not a cab, but it is arcade related. :)
