This thread is about racism and not particularly the Suarez(lets call it non-indicent). Most people here don't understand what racism is. You can call somebody virtually anything and be a racist, you can somebody exactly the same thing and not be a racist.

Separate paragraph for this. What happens on a field of play is completely different imo. If the game is gone to the stage where you can't handle being called a name then my interest in it will diminish. I've had awful things said to me on a pitch and I've just laughed at them, the reason being I knew it was just some opponent trying to get on top of me in some way. You just forget it and move on. If we are gone to the stage that name calling is not allowed then soccer for me is not worth following.

Sure that's all the n-word is, name calling!

On a football field thats all that it is imo. Just somebody who is trying to get the better of you. If he comes up to you off the field and says he meant it thats a different thing. If he shakes your hand at the end of the game its forgotten about for me anyways.

No, racism is disgusting no matter where or who it is.

Have you played football? Anybody ever call you any name thats racist in any way? If you take serious offense to it then for me you are just a pussy tbh. Its a part of the game or at least it used to be. As long as you shake hands when its all over there is no malice imo. People do whatever they can to get the better of you, I've no problem with something like that being used competitively. As long as it doesn't carry of the pitch I've no problem.

As I've said anybody complaining about an incident on a football field is just a pussy imo. Be a man and face up to him when the game is over, thats when you find out whether the guys is real of just doing his best to put you off.

Just to clarify racism for me is something thats said with malice not involving people in a competitive situation.

If someone close to you was dying with cancer and an opposition player knew about it and whispered in your ear ''I hope they die a slow and painful death'' , would you have no problem with it as long as he was saying it to gain a competitive edge?

Have you ever played sports? I mean you don't think about these things when you are playing. Or at least I wouldn't and if somebody knew me that well and brought it up then I'd probably be pissed but I'd remember what he was doing and face up to him when the game was over.

    Yeah
I mean you don't think about these things when you are playing.
But it's normal to think about racially abusing somebody to wind your opponent up?
Or at least I wouldn't and if somebody knew me that well and brought it up then I'd probably be pissed but I'd remember what he was doing and face up to him when the game was over.

Would you not be outraged, disgusted?

I agree with your sentiment that the motive of abuse should be taken into consideration but there is a line that people should never cross and racism is definitely an example of that, hence the media reaction to this story.

In fairness he's kinda right. On the pitch as a small and stocky toddler ive had my height and weight slagged. In later years im fairly sure I said the same to others.

Let's say Suarez called Evra a pint sized pr*ck. That's kinda the same isn't it? You can do nothing about the colour of your skin, and similarly you can do nothing about your height. Yet there would be no furore at all if Suarez had slagged height over colour. For some reason racism is the new terrible thing to do in football. Imo, calling someone a ginger on the pitch is equally as bad (or equally not as bad). Both are natural occurrences, yet one is funny to slag in popular culture and one is strictly forbidden. Im not condoning racism, but in fairness a lot worse is said on a football field.

Ps: the pool fans are embaressing themselves here. Either cameras will pick up what Suarez said and he will get a ban or the won't and nothing will happen. It's impossible to ban evra in this case. Imo this isn't something a player just makes up. If United wanted a player banned then they'd try to ban David Silva or the likes next week, far more of a threat atm.

For the record I don't think Suarez should be banned. What happens on a field happens and if you ban for this you need to ban for the majority of insults

Can Suarez speak English? I'd have thought the 'word,' if it exists is far more likely to be in Spanish, something along the lines of 'puto negro.'

Evra speaks Spanish so good chance it was in Spanish if it happened. 10 times over 90 minutes is not a lot and as for it not being picked up by mics or cameras he was hardly going to shout it was he? More than likely whispered or muttered in close contact.

Its going to be hard to prove, Fergie publicly backing him might suggest there is some evidence especially given Evras quotes. And am sure if there is its not going to be made publicly available and will be demonstrated to the FA.

Liverpools behavior as a cub in this had been despicable though.
1.Officially calling for a player to be banned if the allegations are not true is just not on. What sort of precedence would this give. In the future players would be slow to report other instances for fear of a ban themselves
2.Their official spokesman twittering untruths about previous incidents.

Apologies for picking on your post (this part) but this shows how incredible the whole charade is. Now people are suggesting that it was whispered in Spanish because Evra speaks Spanish (and Suarez is aware of the languages the opposing players speak)

Of Fergie might be backing him the way any manager backs their players no matter what?

    Despicable? Really?
If the allegations are not true (meaning Evra made it up), then you think we should just give Evra a shake of our heads and say tut tut, now get back to work?
Seriously, if it was fabricated, the guy deserves a very harsh punishment and potentially a law suit for slander.
Also, who is the official spokesman? (honest question - I have not seen these tweets so would love to see them as I am sure others as well).

(btw: your post is the typical example of back your club to the hilt no matter what)

It's ok to try get in the mind of your opponent. A certain level of abuse is accepted. Calling someone sh1t or telling them they are going to fail but to racially abuse or discriminate against someone is plain wrong.

The allegations may never be proven but that doesn't mean Evra is lying. Unless Evra comes out and says it or there is clear evidence that he made it up he shouldn't be banned, it would be a dangerous precedent.

Liverpool should have also commented on what would be done if found to be true.

Look back thru the thread re the tweets, easily found.

Have asked what Evra had to gain by saying this? He went to the ref after the match and complained.

If there is no TV footage of Suarez clearly racially abusing him after Patrice Evra specifically said there was. He is clearly lying

You are like a dog with a bone Alan, we get it, you hate United. You hate United more than you like Liverpool.

ffs, Can you explain some things, if you are so convinced Evra is telling lies.

    1. What does he gain from it?

    2. If he is lying about the racist remarks, why would he say they are on camera, knowing it can be checked?

    3. Why do you hate United so much?

The quotes from Evra seem to suggest there is video evidence, particularly the read his lips one.

Again, it's hard to know until the full case is heard, I've my doubts this will go far and no doubt it will be dragged up about Suarez in the future.

    1) Suarez obviously pissed him off. Who knows why people do this kinda thing? Maybe he likes the idea of getting one of the best players in the league suspended & seriously damaging his reputation. We do however know that this does happen, look no further than Mike Phelan for false accusations of racism.
    2) I have no idea, he's obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed & everyone knows he's pretty mental. Very silly of him though as he can be clearly said to have lied if no such footage exists.
    3) Because you support them.

I would say discrimination against skin colour and sexual orientation is wrong and should not be accepted.

However, English cúnt or Paddy Bástard imo, would be part and parcel. Or indeed French príck. Maybe the word was frog..

    Important part bolded.

    You don't know.

You are doing exactly the same thing you are accusing Evra of.

Making false allegations about someone, trying to make him look bad.

You hypocrite, although hyprocasy comes easy to you people.

Are you Jennifer Melfi now? When did you graduate from psychiatry college? You've met Patrice Evra to make a diagnosis on his mental health?

If you've ever played football (which I doubt tbh), you'll know that there are people who kind oif "change" when on the pitch. Hell, I even change when pitchside (managing or supporting Shels), I abuse referees, using language I'd never normally use etc etc, perhaps Patrice Evra is the same?

I suppost Shelbourne FC, FAI Cup finalists 2011 - we'll probably be in the Europe League next season, will you people?
