I think il be welcomed with open arms in whatever country i reside due to having a top class degree and qualification so i wont be a drain on the social welfare system in wherever it is I end up.

You make sure and pay your taxes and keep all those claimers on the dole and with free medicine mmmkkkayy?

Who gives a ****e. He has a point. Leave the PC touchy crap to the bleeding heart liberals. Yes, right wing isn't as bad as it's made out to be. Scrounging off the scratcher for years on end willingly isn't a goal anybody should aspire to.

Ok because im a fair man i suppose i was cocky in saying i have a top class degree but thats the only thing i have in life along with a student loan, and i worked my arse off for my degree so why not be proud of it? Im just badass like that

why the quotations over "student journalist"?

is a BA in Journalism in TCD not good enough to be deemed socially acceptable in the eyes of you a "quality degree holder"

I take it you've paid back the full economic cost of your education in taxes already?

I don't think you quite understand the concept of a loan.

Loan + interest = some initial pain.

He worked hard, that degree will serve him well in years to come. Somewhere else no doubt.

This adds nothing to his argument. The distinction is irrelevant. Fact is, you are punished for trying to generate wealth in this country. The 41% tax rate is an example. These liberal feather heads should be open in arms to more private Enterprise, but no, that is against their liberal agenda.

Most journalists in this country are mediocre at best. A degree in journalism does not make you a good journalist outright.

This is just about the most ignorant post I have ever seen on boards. Wht the hell gives you the right to judge the degree someone else does. What did you do. I noticed you havent mentioned that yet other than the fact that its top class.

When did I ever claim that? I can say that in my class of 40 only about ten have what it takes to make it as a national journalist

And it can easily be argued that a degree in aything else won't make you good at the actually job, how many ****e teachers are there in the country for example?

Posters like the OP seem blind to the fact that at the end of all this, you die.

So, you can, during the short and uncertain time allotted to you on this earth either try and make your best efforts to achieve some happiness for yourself, whether it involves personal satisfaction with how you spend your days, finding a soul-mate, falling in love and sharing your life with someone, spending time with your family and close friends, doing things that interest and inspire you, allowing yourself to enjoy to the fullest extent whatever fruits of your labour you can generate, or whatever. In the meantime, allow yourself to experience some small satisfaction that you are not a scumbag, that you don't allow yourself to deliberately hurt people and that you have some values which lead you to follow a decent road in life.

Or, you can spend your time looking with some wierd form of quasi-envy and bitterness at people who spend most of their days scratching their arses drinking or drugging themselves into varying states of oblivion and running around the place claiming benefits to which they may or may not be entitled.

You can whine about the fact that they don't seem to care that they do this or care about you. You can allow your unwillingness to make the most of what you've got spoil whatever good things are available to you. You can waste the short and uncertain time allotted to you continually feeling hard done by because you have some basic values which prevent you from acting like a scumbag but seem to lack the wherewithal to actually go and live your life and enjoy it.

Basically, if that scumbag life style genuinely attracts you, fook off and go and live it. I'll happily ignore you.

Otherwise, shut yourself up and go and try and find something that allows you to feel happy, then go and do it, because life is too short for whinging, on the internet, or elsewhere.

    +1

He's obviously some elitist ignoramus who fails to see the balanced side of an argument

Obviously we have problems with welfare fraud but this guys solution seems to be to deny people of no means an education and other basic rights
