Who gets really screwed in Ireland

A poster said the following on another thread:

"Scumbags can do what they like in this country, just like the rich can. Ordinary Joe is the one who gets screwed by the system"

However he/she is wrong. Scumbags get on just fine in life with free dole cash in the claw free medical card, all they have to do is pop down to the community welfare officer for another free sub for their "children" then off to the pub with the cash. Those at the top end need no introduction to scammery eg. seanie fitz.

It is people like my parents (who il be honest are middle class) who pay 41% tax are the real losers in this pathetic country, getting up at 7 in the morning for the past 30 years to keep scumbag hooligans in college with their student grant so they can go off drinking as soon as the pubs open.

Anyway Im done with this country, those that worked hard all their lives (such as my parents who grew up in extreme poverty) to make something of themselves are the ones who get screwed, and Im pretty sure there are others on here too who are in the same situation. Im getting the hell out of here as soon as I possibly can so my tax money will never be used to keep Bertie Knacker Ahern in valet staff.

Same train of thought op. I have lost all respect for this country. Once I have the means, I am outta here like a light. Ireland isn't the worst country by any means, but we should not get ahead of ourselves. Move to a Scandinavian country, these are some of the most progressive societies in the world. Not like here. but I have seen it first hand my friend so say what you wish, I never got ONE CENT from the state bar my child allowance over the years and had to work my balls off to stay in uni (part time jobs) whilst I watched others get 5 or 6 gs a year for doing nothing just because mammy and daddy couldnt be arsed working and were much more useful at working the social welfare system

Trade Certs. Any decent tradesman will qualify on their own merit, not like the pissheads I've seen piss away their grant:rolleyes: A large majority of people who attend college do so because they have nothing better to be doing. I got a student grant, it's means tested and since the parents were self employed a full set of accounts were needed

The reason you didn't get it is your parents earn over the threshold

Apologies, I know there are dangers in making generalisations, you are probably a very good student and use your grant wisely towards the cost of your education, my gripe is mos def not with you, in fact I would rather see my tax money go to your pocket to feed you on a daily basis than Bertie or any other gangsters pocket.

But you must agree you yourself are aware of the kind of "student" I mention surely?

This guy is probably the exception to the rule. I do agree though, a large majority of people intentionally fail the year just to keep the money. These idiots should be forced to pay back the money after failing first year of a course. I've seen it many times myself. The grants system in this country is a joke.

I really don't, infact I can't recall many people abusing the grants scheme

However this general sense of entitlement is despicable, and yes as you so politely I will piss right off out of here when the time is right and leave the likes of yourself to keep paying your taxes into the hands of gangsters/scumbags.
