Another commercial deal...

Manchester United has extended its reach into the Middle East after reaching a deal to sell match footage to United Arab Emirates mobile phone firm Du.

The two-year deal is worth around 2 million pounds ($3 million), with United providing club content to the Dubai-based company’s 5 million mobile customers.

United has capitalized on its global appeal by signing regional deals that have pushed commercial revenue beyond 100 million pounds ($165 million) each year.

Have to agree, they are really upping their games and I am quite impressed. Hopefully in the next 5yrs we will see significant gains on the reduction of our debt.

The United Liverpool match is the game I most look forward to every year. I'd say it's due to the majority of friends growing up followed the Pool.

this. I've been firmly against them in the past, but they've been churning out the business deals lately, which is great. however, they wouldn't be getting half as many except the team are doing/did so well in the last year or so.

Ya in my primary class there was 11 Liverpool supporters and 5 United and that was it, no other teams supported. Used be great craic.

I'm more surprised they didn't start doing this earlier to be honest. United have always been successful and would have gotten these deals anytime in The Glazers reign.

I just love the way they don't meddle. They stay out of it and understand that Fergie is the man.

I guess it just takes time. They took over in 2005. Richard Arnold became Commercial Director ~end of 2007. Commercial team moved to Pall Mall, London in ~2008, then moved to Mayfair Feb 2011 to expand its operations.

Add to that the emergence of potential revenue from the technological side i.e. such mobile operator deals weren't really plausible before the last couple years.

I think they have made good progress on the commercial side in the amount of time they've been in charge.

Thanks but I'd rather stay clear of the soccer forum when it comes to modding. Soccer, YLYL, After Hours and Politics and the Religion forums are fora I wouldn't touch with a barge pole!
