You'd need to eat about a pound of weed for it to kill you. That's an expensive, and difficult, way of commiting suicide.

Had one once there and nothing happened. There must have been nothing in them 'cause one guy ate about ten of them and was grand. Luckily they were delicious, so we didn't mind too much.
Reminding me of the movie "EuroTrip" :p

We were so naive looking back. We were walking around an hour later thinking that we'd been ripped off cos nothing was happening and then.... WOOOSHHH!. Oh man where did that tidal wave come from?

Just wondering did anyone else buy any of these truffles and was it possible that it was something else (surely the effects of weed wouldn't last 7 hours or cause me to hallucinate)

    What did they look like?

    What did they look like?

little round brown turds about a half inch in height

The woman selling them kept them in a little picnic basket type thing

I feel your pain OP, had a similar experience in Amsterdam a couple of years back.
A few hours worth of paranoia, panic attacks and weird out-of-body experiences.
Anytime I've smoked since I just start to get those feelings again, so it's probably put me off for good.
It just doesn't agree with certain people.

My advice to the OP or anyone who is going to do hallucinogenics or things that might cause hallucination like effect is:

    1. Do them in a comfortable environment with friends. You are going to be in a very strange state of mind, so if you are going to do them, do them at home or at friends house were someone knows where everything is. If someone in your group has done them before that's a big plus.

    2. Know what you want before you start, and don't be ignorant of what you are taking. If you want to get a bit high take a small piece, if you want to trip take a bit more etc. Also the thing about hallucinogenics is that the mood that you are in when you take them usually dictates the trip you are going to have. So depressed state = glum, intense hallucinations, happy mind-set = floaty, colourful borderline euphoric trip.

    3. Keep lots of sugary drinks close to hand (coke, club orange etc.) Sometimes an event or some outside influence can really upset your mind set (you are incredibly malleable while tripping), and when you take lots of sugar you come back to a relatively normal state pretty quickly (10-20 minutes). You'll still feel quite airy, and out of it (kind of like being stoned) but the trip will be far less intense and you'll definitely stop hallucinating.

    4. Never mix drink and hallucinogenics you will have a bad trip. There are so many reasons why mixing hallucinogenics and alcohol is a bad idea; alcohol is a depressant, so you can feel suicidal, you can have really have an off-key trip, it throws decision making skills way out of whack, so you can hurt yourself and hurt others, you can vomit intensely for hours etc.

If you follow these four pieces of advice you will probably have a good trip, and doing mushrooms and LCD can be quite an enjoyable experience.

Simple rule OP, if you're not used to doing something, DON'T do it all at once...

Ha, no it was a chocolate truffle rather than the type you use a truffle pig for and grate over scrambled eggs

It sounds to me like you had a bad case of paranoia, otherwise known as "the fear." Eating cannabis gives a much more potent effect than smoking it. I've had very strong "skunk" type weed in Holland and the States and have got edgy from the very strong buzz that it gives. Very strong doses of THC (the active compound in weed) can induce hallucinations and sensory changes which can be very frightening.

In future, stick to taking a couple of tokes and stay away from eating hash. Some people just aren't capable of enjoying the effects of being stoned just as for some people alcohol is a no no.

You sure they weren't just brownies?
We asked for hash brownies, so I've always assumed that that's what we were served. Someone has since suggested to me that the fact we were smoking too might have negated the effect, but in my experience eating weed = more stoned, not 'just as stoned as you would have been'.

Still, I had a good night with friends, and the brownies were yummy.

I used to live with a guy who made these, you'd think you'd hardly be affected at all but they're surprisingly strong. They're best avoided.

Was this woman shiftily selling these 'weed truffles' surreptitiously with a nod and a wink or openly flogging her wares in a 'Hear Ye, Hear Ye' fashion?

If they actually contained cannabis, it'd seem a little odd to be so brazen.

You get a way better whack off it when eaten, used to it with hash back in the day and it is a whole different ball game. Bad experience was probably down to you not being ready for it, stuff like that can be overwhelming if you're not in the right frame of mind.

Yup, always recall my first time eating it, hit me like a tonne of bricks...smoking it is such a waste really, but eating it takes too long and can be a bit too intense if you get the dosage wrong and isn't really as sociable as smoking it. Certainly eating it whilst drinking is a no-no, unless long interrupted sleep and occasional vomiting is your bag.

I'm intrigued about this "covered in dry toothpaste" though...

Most of what you said is bang on the money. But alcohol as a depressant does not mean it makes you depressed, it just slows down your central nervous system.

I did a space cake in Amsterdam a week and a half ago, I ate the whole thing against the advice everyone gave me. I ended up in bed within 3 hours of being in country freaking out and losing my grip on reality. This was my first time doing any drug other than alcohol. It was pretty scary. The next day did truffles and got nothing out of them but smoked all night and had a good buzz going. I think I prefer the smoke, it's more like drinking, more sociable and fun. But drink is still far better.

well you're the one that came up with the description...can you describe fruther? I have to admit not being able to imagine what being covered in dry toothpaste feels likes, but the fogginess in your head from a come down off a heavy stone whilst a great feling can be a drag at something like a music festival.
Just be glad it wasn' the other truffles...had a perfectly good weekend in the dam spolied by eating too mnay of those feckin' things...
