Racist, you should be banged up for two months.

May I urge you Ms O' Connor, to kindly keep to the subject in hand, less all manner of beastly unpleasantness should fall upon us?

I'd rather hear "hiya" than "sup?"

In my local Aldi the only greeting you get is Cash or Laser.

Hiya. I think that's a bit harsh. Cheerio.

    I shopped in Aldi once.

I went in for a loaf of bread & came out with a tin of Russian sardines and a snorkel.

'Aw right bud, staary?' is far worse.

There is a girl who works with me, she's our bookkeeper, and she is on the phone quite a bit throughout the day. She constantly says "Hiya", and it is driving me round the bend

Another person in this shambles of an office starts internal emails with Hiya.:mad:

Is there anything that can be done to rid us of the plague of such a stupid salute?
    What's your greeting?

Certainly might not be the ideal greeting in the workplace but I suppose that would depend where one works...

I say Hei (pronounced Hey) - after spending guts of a year in Finland.

Hei Houmenta! I think is how it is spelt is Good Morning. Good friends or so would just say Hei! when they meet. Just stuck with me.
What didn't was going around the office each morning shaking everyones hand - freaked me out....

your job should be taken off you and given to someone who uses their brain. maintaining mortgage payments on €188 a week would give you something to think about.

Steady on, everybody. Is it not a wonderful thing to be acknowledged, regardless of the particular vernacular?

    I don't have a problem with hiya.

I do have a problem with that annoying girl on Radio Nova in the morning, who insists on saying "Bye-ya!!!!"

It makes me turn the radio off.
