    Yea right.

Pepper was a spice that only kings could afford hundreds of years ago. Should we not enjoy that since we're not royalty?

I haven't got up at an ungodly hour for a game since Ireland v Cameroon World Cup 2002.

Wasn't that an early afternoon kick off :)

Plan is to go out tonight, go to an afterparty somewhere, and stay up until the end of the game :D

And what position will you be playing tomorrow?

You will be shining your tin foil hat whilst the match is on, you couldn't possibly have to time to watch it?

Nope 7am I think! All the other group games were noon-ish, just managed to get up in time for them :pac:

How do you know I'll be shining my tin-foil hat?

STOP FOLLOWING ME AND LEAVE ME ALONE!

Besides, I would have the exact same reaction if I saw the results afterwards as I would if I watched the game live. I don't care and it really doesn't matter.

Wouldn't miss it for the world..Love the game and love sport in General.
Would sit down and watch Ireland play any sport to be honest...
And fair play to the team for their brilliant performance so far...let hope it continues and we have something to look forward too each week rather than the usual Sh%te doom and gloom in the media about the Economy/Banks and useless muppets running for election in the Presidency.

I shall be awake, watching it from my leaba. It'll be worth it if we win, although if we lose I'll be 1 pissed off person, and it'll only be around 8am at that stage..

A rugby match isnt going to change anything

I got up early for some and didn't for others. The times I didn't get up early I managed to avoid hearing the score until I saw the setanta replay.

Avoiding hearing the score till you get to see the replay is not as easy as it sounds.

I will probably get up early as I have a horrible feeling this could be our last match.

    It surely won't.

But it can be escapism for 80 minutes, and if they win that escapism can last another week.

It's your choice not to care. But it does matter to a lot of people to be fair.

Its quite fun actually, until you wake up late that evening and the sitting room is covered in fag butts, empty cans, punctured blow up tri colour hammers and gawk.

I can't see myself getting up for it - why did they have to have New Zealand in a different time zone. Surely they could have moved the country to a better time zone so that the matches wouldn't be on at the crack of dawn?

Damn right I am. Not missed a match yet. You'll see all these clowns jumping on the bandwagon if we reach the world cup final.

Yep. I'll adorn my red nose and oversized shoes and head along. Have no interest in the game but will go along and watch the final and pretend I did all along (don't shoot me for being honest!).

How? It has no effect on the lives of ordinary people. Might make some of them a bit happier for a while, but it really changes nothing. Most people aren't connected in any way to the team. Sport is just escapism and something to talk about for a few days after, but it's not important. Does anything really change whether Ireland win or lose tomorrow?

Saying that it matters to some people is like saying a TV show matters to some people. It's escapism, it's something to talk about, and you can become emotionally invested in it. But it really doesn't actually matter.

You'd be surprised what positive energy does for an economy. Happy people are productive people.
When Irish people are in good form they spend...spending creates jobs and the snowball begins.
Here's what Thierry Henrys hand ball is estimated to cost the Irish Economy.

I'd watch it if it was at 8am. I don't care enough to get up at 6 of a Saturday. Would be great to see them win but either way, I won't be losing sleep over it.

So you're saying that happiness and pleasure don't matter and are not important...?

I can provide my physical self with the nutrition it needs by eating foods that are not things I particularly like, but which are nutritious. Why would I do that when I can instead eat things that fulfill the need for nutrition, and also provide pleasure and make me happy...?

If watching the match makes people happy, then I think it is important.

And the utter devastation when you lose.

I'm settling in for the Soccer first ........... here at 3.30 pm and hopefully be in a reasonable condition for the Wales match at 1 am. A three or four goal win could be detrimental to the latter. Will be having a little private ceremony as I uncork the vino and break open the 2lb bag of pistaschios after lunch. Slainte! :D
