Can I ask if you weigh your portions? I think it can be really easy to overestimate portion size and therefore underestimate points. Over the course of a week this can really add up. Also things like milk- an uncounted splash here a drop there- can also quickly add up.

Sometimes I think we have to go back to the basics of the plan - weifh and track every morsel. Maybe have a look at an earlier week where you had a good loss and look at what you ate, what you were doing that worked that week.

Well done in your loss so far!!!!

    Thanks.

Yeah I always weigh my carbs, cereal, potatoes, rice, pasta. I don't weigh meat as the weight is on the pack. I think I need to just track every single bite and if it means eating up all my weeklies so be it. I think I have got lazy in the fact that I wasn't counting my low low on toast or the few spoons of the OH rice dinner and things like that. I am going to have to try and be really strict with myself.

To answer a previous poster, my exercise is bad. At the start I was walking a minimum of 5 days a week (and I hadn't exercised many years previous to that so I broke myself in gently and built on my distance). Summer is when I just stopped exercising as I HATE the heat. I think I know what I need to do, I just need to do it. No more excuses, if it is raining, I will do one of the exercise DVD's I have. If it's not raining, I must go for a walk. The only day I let myself off will be Wednesday (WI day) as I would be home late and starving and knackered.

Thanks for all the advice. I just need a good kick up the bum and I need to remember why I started this. Have brought an options hot choc (1PP) for afternoon break to stop me going to the vending machine :)

Well I've had a terrible week food wise. I well and truly fell off the wagon. I just got into one of those moods where I was tired of pointing and constantly watching what I ate. I feel so bloated now.

My new week starts tomorrow and I'm determined to get back on track. I'm working towards my 2nd stone which I have still to get

Well done to all those who have lost. Havana your post has really inspired me to get back on track and keep working towards goal. You've done so well :)

Eabhabear, I could have written that post this week. I didn't so much fall off the wagon as run the wagon into the ditch. Sick of pointing, sick of trying. I can't wait to go to WI tonight, get my new tracker, burn last weeks one, and come home and look up some new recipes. I seem to be eating the same stuff all the time and I'm beyond bored with it, need some inspiration! We can do this, don't give up x

so sick this week! Cold/flu + sinus! Yuck!

have no appitite! been living on chicken sandwhiches and soft scones...cos i have to eat something with the antibiotics. all that bread will prob lead to a gain...but feeling so crap...i really couldn't care! at least i'm guzzling water like theres no tomrrow...to try and clear out my sinus!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 288 ✭✭MaggieMay2

Ah sorry to hear that Lainy! There's nothing worse, suffer with sinuses myself. When your feeling poorly the last thing I want to do is eat anything. Some hot soup will help too.

After last night I realise I need to get out of a bit of a cycle. Does anyone else do this? WI is on a Wednesday night. I find after WI I go home and have my dinner then a few 'treats' because its WI night. I still had 20 of my weeklies left for the week. I start afresh every Thursday morning. I just don't like the cycle of it if you get me and it seems to be a forming habit and not a good one because it's a little over indulgent on sweet/bad things etc. That I feel stuffed all night and rotten in the morning! Don't think it's the best idea tbh :( And I think I'm sabotaging any good efforts for the previous week

You poor thing, hope you feel better soon - As MaggieMay said, some really spicy hot soup will get the sinuses moving! Lots of garlic & pepper x

MM, I've been looking through my trackers to see what the hell went wrong this week, and I think I'm in the same boat. Every Thursday night for the last few weeks after WI, I go to the shop and get rubbish - including chocolate, which I wouldn't even eat normally??!!! It's like I'm saying "Ooh, that pound is gone, get some rubbish into you". That's not including my weeklies, which I seem to want to get rid of before a Sunday. I feel like I'm binging on crap for 2 or 3 days just because I technically can, and reading back, that's what went wrong with me last week. I got the taste for junk on Thursday night and I kept it going all week. No more - not going to the shop tonight or any other night and going to start keeping my weeklies for emergencies, which is what I suspect they are intended for. I'm also making a big pot of soup for when I come home tonight, so that I can start the week off properly without putting any junk into my body at all. Best of luck for this week!

Thanks for that Shanna. Yep I reckon thats it. I was so annoyed with myself. In fairness I only ate 13 of my weeklies and I don't know if that didn't help the weight loss. I'm always so afraid to use them. So like you they go on crap on a Wednesday night. It's funny since I started I've lost my sweet tooth and I find myself thinking about what bar to buy for a 'treat' and none of them really appealing to me but still getting one because it was WI night and thats what I did last time I did WW when I did have a sweet tooth. Its a plan so. I'm going to have one small thing after WI next Wed and thats it! Best of luck to us both on it!

-1.5lbs this week. Wasn't expecting anything major, had a bad weekend foodwise, although not catastrophic like could easily be had. Still though, just ate a small Dominos pizza & potato wedges...... Oh the damage! Going drinking tomorrow and Sat night too, but, I'm allowed the odd blow out. This is my 4th weigh in and I'm -9lbs so it's decent going.

Pointed my pizza out of interest! Had a small [thin crust] Full House - they don't have the small thin crust nutritional info for this one but I looked up the 'regular' crust, so assume the thin crust is a wee bit less.

Each slice of this = 6PP
    There were 6 slices = 36PP! Ouch!

I had wedges too which was probably another 6PP so that's 42 PP for one meal!

Feeling great today. Potatoes nearly ready for mash and beef stew (11PP), nom nom nom. And after that, still have 8PP left. Don't want to eat them for the sake of it, don't think it will be too bad to do this once would it?

Had lovely big tuna salad for lunch and for afternoon break, avoided the temptation of the vending machine and had my 1PP options hot choc. Came home and did 30 minutes of an exercise DVD.

Hopefully getting my mojo back, although many times it has happened that I start of great and then fail, lets hope I can keep at it :)

any idea how many points in a doner kebab from abrekebabra ?????

    Here are the nutritional values..

    http://www.abrakebabra.com/menus.html

    and the calc

    http://www.calculator.net/weight-watchers-points-calculator.html

I tried doing it out but got such low points its laughable! 6pp i'd say thats per 100g cause thats what the calories are measured in. 198kcal per 100g

I have to say, I find this thread a godsend.

Lisa_Celtic, I'd love some dinner ideas! MaggieMay, I'm the exact same - no bars or crisps appeal to me now at ALL, but have been getting them anyway "just for a treat". Have decided to buy a new nail polish every week instead, feed a different habit!

Had WI tonight, was up 2lbs as expected - instead of going to the shop I went for an hour walk, then had some scrambled eggs with grilled rashers, mushrooms and 3pp worth of toast for dinner(didn't get to make the soup). Have done a shopping list for tomorrow and am 100% back on track, let's shift this weight once and for all! I have 7lbs until I get into the 13's, which I haven't been in since I was about 17, and I'm GOING to do it. Very best of luck to everyone for this week xxx

Down another two pound this week- what's working for me is a combination of strict tracking (You can fool yourself but you can't fool the scales) and plenty of exercise- just walking- whatever the weather.

Oh it's happened. I really didn't think it would but after a weekend spent with the OH's family on the other side of the country, I've just lost the will. I found it so hard in their house 'cos it's all full fat milk, feck all fruit and no water (I'm strictly a bottled water drinker, will have tap water purely to quench thirst but wouldn't go near the two plus litres a day I'd normally take from the bottles). It wouldn't have been so bad if I had just had the meals being served but I took the cakes and biscuits too and because I didn't have my usual fruit and yogurt snacks I was starving all the time and ate whatever rubbish was lying around. But the really bad effect is that four days without tracking has got me out of the habit and I haven't done any since I got home. How do I get back in the saddle? My meeting isn't till next week and I feel like I really need it. It's hard being a food addict!

Im so glad I found this thread ! Im staring WW at home programme today and feel a bit lost , I just cant fit the meetings in at all with two young kidies and no babysitter . It was pretty expensive so I aim to use it well . I need to loose 3 stone anyway  . So Where do I even start ? How do I get motivated ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 365 ✭✭dammitj

    Start small, small goals work.
I was 13st 11.5lbs when I started, but didn't think "OK I want to be 10.5st" - just started with the first half stone and after that a few more lbs to get to 13, then the next half stone, etc etc.

Now I'm about 10st 13lbs and moving down, it's taken over a year and a half but I'm in no rush - I have all the time in the world to get to where I want to be and at least now I can exercise comfortably and change my shape.

Best decision I ever made was to join WW. It even ensured I didn't gain any weight when I quit smoking in January - and I NEVER thought I'd do that.

    :D

    Hey Lioness,

This is going to sound silly but just stop! It's a frame of mind. It's really really easy to not bother and it just requires that bit of effort to bother. So to get back in the saddle if you have a slip (we all have :D) just draw a line under it and start afresh on a new day. For me if I have a good breakfast and then track it sets off the day in the right track. Start drinking your water and then plan what your going to have for the rest of the day that fits within your points, even plan in a treat with a cuppa in the evening to look forward to so you don't feel your depriving yourself. If you can get out for a small walk even better. All those little things help shift your mindset. Once you have one good day under your belt its a rollover!

    Hope that helps!

Lisa this made me laugh.....I have a nail polish addiction so if I come home with any more bottles the OH will kill me. It would help if I didn't buy the Chanel ones :p But very good point! Maybe a DVD or something like that! Thanks!

Out of curiousity, do you and any other WW-er who wants to answer, have your after WI treat and either not point it or take it out of your "new week" weeklies?

    Heh Guys

Just wondering do you have to use your full pro points values every day as well as you're weekly pro points? Find it difficult to use the full daily's as usually (when on a healthy buzz) snack on fruit and other healthy food! As for the weeklies, used them one week and put up half a pound!
Need the motivation to get out and go walking too. Wouldnt mind but was soooo good at walking when I was pregnant!

Lost 2.5 lbs this week and I got out for 3 7km walks so knows it makes a diff if I go out to do the exercise! Total loss so far is 11.5lbs in 5 weeks and so so happy with that as anticiapated a pound a week giving me a stone before Christmas and well on the way for that!

On a diff note how do I quote peoples posts in my post so I can refer or ans a question they might have. Computer dunce here!

The last few weeks I haven't pointed them because they've been awful and I haven't had any weeklies left. Saying that though I've been stuck in a rut. My aim is from now on to only have treats if I have the weeklies to cover them.

Well done on your loss! You must use your full daily points every day. Then you can use as many or as few of your weeklies as you wish.

To quote a person there is a quote button in the bottom right hand side of every post so just click that. And if you want to multi-quote click the button beside the quote on :)
