Found a great tip on the ww uk site from Anthony Worrell Thompson for lean mince - "don’t worry about getting lean mince for the dish, cook normal mince ahead and put in the fridge and then you can skim the excess fat off the top". :)

I cook it and drain it in a colander and even wash it with boiling hot water and it does the trick nicely as well

Thanks :-D the main things I've changed are my portion sizes. The food I ate was not the worst but I just ate so much of it! So now I weigh EVERYTHING. And I mean everything. It's actually not that big a job - just a couple of seconds. I got one of those flat scales that you can put to zero each time you add anything - hope you know what I mean. They are really handy.

I plan everyday the evening before and add it it to my app on my phone so everyday is planned and I rarely deviate from this. If I do I change my tracker before I eat it. Nothing goes in my mouth before I've pointed it. If I'm eating out ( and I've done so alot since I started WW) I see if I can get the menu online before I go. I point everything and in the supermarket I get out the calculator on the phone when I'm deciding what to buy. And when I'm shopping nothing goes in my trolley that I haven't worked out the points for. (I sometimes worry they must be watching me on CCTV wondering what I'm doing on my phone every couple of steps lol!!!)

And a big thing is that I've started exercising - I'm nearly finished the C25K and am doing Shred and zumba. It's really made a difference to my shape. I've gone from an uncomfortable size 14, who really needed a 16 alot of the time to a comfy size 10!!!

I know all the planning, tracking and weighing sounds like a right pain but really it's not. A few mins each evening and a couple of seconds when I'm cooking is all it really takes. And it's so worth it!!! Having the phone app is great (I use iWatcher) cos I can do it watching the tv and during the day it's always to hand.

I know it sounds cheesy but the pp plan works if you work it!!

Sorry if I found preachy lol. I'm feeling a little smug today :-D

    H x
Well done Havana, you must feel fantastic!

You are right, its all about planning! I found that I wasnt planning my meals so, even though I wasnt eating bad food as such, I was eating too much of it. Now that I am planning my meals, I am actually enjoying my food more and actually eating more nice food.

Hey anyone know how much a portion of 90g popcorn kernels weighs when it's popped? my scales stopped working and i really want to eat some! it just gives nutritional info for 25g, but if i know how much the whole bag is i can just work it out from that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 863 ✭✭✭Eabhabear

Well I've had a terrible week food wise. I well and truly fell off the wagon. I just got into one of those moods where I was tired of pointing and constantly watching what I ate. I feel so bloated now.

My new week starts tomorrow and I'm determined to get back on track. I'm working towards my 2nd stone which I have still to get

Well done to all those who have lost. Havana your post has really inspired me to get back on track and keep working towards goal. You've done so well :)

90g of air popped popcorn is 10pp (butter flavour is 13pp)

Sometimes I'm more of a lurker here than a poster but I check in everyday. And all the posts/ support/ ideas/ inspirations have got me where I am today which is ...... GOAL!!!! So thanks all for the part you've played in that :-D

15 weeks and 29lbs later I've finally done it. I'm so bl00dy happy and dare I say it a little emotional!! And nervous. I kinda think the real work starts now, but I'm up for it and more than a little excited!!!

Well done Havana, jeez 15 weeks is really good going. I'm a lurker like you, the odd post now and then but read on a daily basis.. great thread for motivation. Continue to do what your doing and those pounds will stay off. I've looked at this as a total lifestyle change and when your comfy in your clothes you won't want to put up the pounds. I still continue to weigh everything and track always - i'll do it until i'm confident that I can maintain my weight on my own.

Its in the blue book I got in my folder but i hadnt got all the ingredients so here was my take on it:

1 butternut squash peeled/deseeded/chopped in to squares
    1 diced red pepper
    red chilli deseeded and diced
    Onion
    6 tomatoes
    2 chopped garlic cloves
    Salt & Pepper

Just chopped everything up into a roasing tin with some fry lite for 45 mins when it was ready i added 500ml of boiling water and blitzed the life out of it added another 500ml boiling water blitzed some more and brought to boil in a saucepan

    IT WAS AMAZINGLY GOOD

    Down 1.5. Delighted!

My leader started a 12 weeks to Christmas challenge. So my goal is a pound a week on average. So that would have me 2lb more than my original stone for Christmas goal. She gives us a star any week we have a loss too. Three in a row now. They're so shiny!

I think that's popped. According to ww.co.uk 50g of popping corn, uncooked is 7pp so 90g would be around 13pp.

    Hey all,

Some great losses well done everyone!! I'm feeling very deflated this evening after WI :( Was only 1 pound away from my first stone, was really good all week only had 12 out of the weeklies and up a half! I just can't figure it out  It's now 17 weeks in and I've managed 12.5lbs. Don't get me wrong I'm 12.5lbs lighter which is great but it's so slow and I haven't faltered once make an effort every week, track plan, portion and still. Just a bit disheartening is all. Thanks for listening to me rant guys. The OH for some reason just doesn't get it

Up 1/2 a lb! What is wrong with me? I was doing really well and had barely eaten any of my weeklies and saw no budge on my own scales and thought f*ck it, all this hard work for nothing and then went and ate the rest of my weeklies. Really annoyed at the plan tbh. It says if you eat your dailies plus your weeklies you will lose 1-2lb per week but that has never happened for me.

I really am at a loss. By the end of July I had lost 50lb, and between arsing around and my wedding, I am now at 43lb lost and that still took me longer than it should. I guess I haven't been doing this properly since April (started last November). I still have 77lb to lose :(

I just don't know how to find the motivation I had in the first 6 months. I can be really good for a few days and then get a f*ck it attitude. I am also finding it MUCH easier to gain weight (even by just eating all weeklies) than it is to lose it :( Help!

I'm at it a year, and have had loads of weeks like that, but overall am still down almost three stone, so keep going, the evidence shows that if it takes you longer to lose it, you're more likely to keep it off. Think of it as your life changing forever and not just a few months dieting. When i was attending meetings we had this really inspirational talk from somebody who had over six stone to lose and was halfway through her weight loss and said how she had realised that it wasn't a race but her whole life changing forever!

Trisha's class? Posting this from memory but I'll double check it tonight.

The recipe she gave us is:
    One medium butternut squash
    One chilli pepper, deseeded
    Two red peppers
    One large onion
    Two litres of vegetable soup
    Fresh coriander to garnish
    Salt and pepper to season

Put all the veg in with vegetable stock and bring to boil. Reduce the heat and leave on for 20 -25 minutes. Then puree to your taste. Made it this week, was amazing! Spicy though and I only used one small chilli pepper!

Hey Monife, loosing 43lb is such a good achievement, from reading online i have seen many people talking about hitting a brick wall after been on the plan a while, you might just need to re-tweak your foods, maybe start been as strict as you were in the beginning i notice after just six weeks i feel i know the points of my regular things so don't weigh them, i might have to kop on and realize eating my old way gets me no where so sticking to the plan is the only way to shift the weight. also try just using half the weeklies. what ever you do stick with it!! x

You have to keep it going, 43 lbs lost is huge , you are 1/3 of the way there. Where are you at exercise wise, I took my foot of the pedal last week and gained a half pound , my diet was quiet good bar a thai red curry but other than that it was the lack of exercise that pushed me up. I pushed myself hard this week exercise wise and lost 3 lbs.

Some great losses on here this week - well done everyone. And congratulations to Havana for getting to goal. Hopefully I'll get there too soon (keep losing & gaining the same 3lbs, with 2 more to lose to get there). I didn't get to class this week. I went to Dublin for the day as my husband had to go for a meeting, so I went along for the day out. It was lovely to be able to treat myself to a pair of size 12 trousers - something I wouldn't have been able to do this time last year (or any time in the last 5 yrs!). Makes it all worthwhile! Keep up the good work everyone & you'll get there in the end.

Can I ask if you weigh your portions? I think it can be really easy to overestimate portion size and therefore underestimate points. Over the course of a week this can really add up. Also things like milk- an uncounted splash here a drop there- can also quickly add up.

Sometimes I think we have to go back to the basics of the plan - weifh and track every morsel. Maybe have a look at an earlier week where you had a good loss and look at what you ate, what you were doing that worked that week.

Well done in your loss so far!!!!
