lads does anyone have a link of the confirmed features for the 4s or can anyone just tell me?

what seperates this from the iphone 4 which i have and thinking about getting this new 1....

    cheers
    Especially faster overall.
    A new 64GB version
    8mp camera (vs 5mp)
1080 HD Video Recording (vs 720p)
    Siri voice control
Dual CDMA & GSM Compatible (doesn't really affect you unless you travel to the US a lot)
    Improved antennae trickery

    Eh, that's it.
Any ideas who the first provider in Ireland will be to get it?
They'll all have it on the 28th. No reason why one would get it and the others wouldn't.

Wow - 16 months wait for the same phone with this year's spec list. It's looking like Apple have peaked! What a bum deal. They should have brought that out back in June.
Glad I have a Sensation now!

I wonder why they didnt increase the screen size...

The same story here, I was going to wait for iphone5 and didn't want to get anything earlier but I snapped at some stage and got sensation...getting iphone4s would be a big mistake :)

Ive a 3GS so I think I'll bite depending on the prices.

Im on one of the corporate Vodafone plans through my missis' work and Im due an upgrade this month.

Can anyone guess how much the 4S will be on a plan like that if I continue on an 18/24 month contract?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 469 ✭✭4ndroid

Apple absolutely suck.....really tired of this crap! Just does my head in that they BARELY improve new models. Anyone looking for the new one who has the ip4, dont bother wasting your money, wont be worth it

Just get the ip4. Itll be cheaper and youll save yourself 100/200 quid at least.
Theres F-all difference between ip4 and ip4s. Not worth the extra money.

Going by iP4 launch prices, you'll probably get the base model (16GB) for around €250 on the cheapest 24-month contract.

really disgusted.. massive hype for the same phone with a couple of interior mods.

as someone who was holding on to my money to buy it, i will seriously be considering buying the 4 unless i can be swayed by the promises from the new model.

maybe once the dissappointment of getting no 5 has been dealt with we can move on to a comparison.

going to cry into a cup of tea.. then at some stage someone will slap me across the head and say HELLO>>> its a phone, not the loss of a child.

haha the game is over for Apple. Slow release of old technology with all the proprietary ****e that goes along with it.

3.5 inch screens? The game has moved on.

Go to Android and don't move back :D

I made the switch last month. Loving the Cabbage app for sending webtexts. Unlike Eirtext Pro (which I had on my iPhone), it's integrated with your main messaging app which I find great. I think the locked down nature of Apple doesn't allow for this integration.

I was going to wait until todays announcement but bought the Galaxy S2 on a 12 month contract with Meteor - €30 per month contract with 200 minutes and texts (with webtexts I have 500 texts per month). At that time, the phone was €139.99 and I got €40 back from FatCheese so it only cost me €99.99.

I'm now 1 month into my contract and the phone is €50 more expensive to buy now. Looks like I made the right decision. Before the Galaxy S2, it was an iPhone 3G I had so I really needed to upgrade. When my upgrade comes next September, I may go back or may stay with Android - depending on what's available.

I hate the fact that most iPhone contracts are 24 months.

So much for the hype, the holographic keyboards, the slimmer profile, the improved batteries, etc.

And the iPod is a big disappoint too. Just the same old ****. Oh but the iTouch is white and it's a little bit cheaper! oh em gee.

    just as i thought.

i cant see why everyone is so dissapointed. Apple dont make these things overnight (or make their strategic decisions overnight) - iphone 4s was probably always their aim when they released iphone4 last year - why would they change their strategy?

and all the 'teardrop' designs we've been seeing are (probably) the iphone5 - which was always (probably) due out next year - and i'll stick my neck here and suggest that the new form factor next year wont chnage the following year - thats just too fickle (a one year design cycle?).

it was exact same with iphone 3g to 3gs.

the bottom line is - is it the best on the market today? - i dont have too much experience with the other phones to make a direct comparison but the iphone4 was amazing - and now thye've made it faster and added "the best mobile camera"

( i dont buy the SIRI only works on 4s - i'm sure someone will port it to the 4 )

    "your expectation causes your misery"

Samsung is announcing stuff and knocking it out within months. No huge fanfare, just constantly pushing the boundaries. phones with 720p screens about to release, 1.5ghz dual core.

    Apple v Android Staring Competition.

    Apple just blinked.

Now I'm interested - let's see what the android camp do now.

    This'll be great :D

well I for one will be getting one next Friday.
as far as I'm concerned the iPhone is brilliant and if this 4s is an improvement be it only slight then hell I want one.
I have gone thru them all from 2g right up and every phone has been a big improvement.
I'm not denying there might be better phones out there but I'll stick to what I know and love

I don't think every one has been a big improvement, the first phone was a meh, as was the 3GS and now the 4S.

The decent iPhone cycle was the 3G, the 4 and wait for the 5.

The filler phones are just placeholders.

Did you happen to have a nokia before your first iphone? You might be better served making that leap again.

I would not call the 4 amazing. I went from a 3GS to the 4 because they didn't have a 3GS to replace my old one under insurance and the only difference to me was the screen res and brightness. Same phone overall.

Had a Desire at the time and it was on par with the 4 hardware wise except the HTC had a far better camera.

Since the 4 was released there are at least 5 phones out there now that are superior to it hardware wise in every area.

There are already 3 phones out now that are superior to the 4S hardware wise except in GPU speed.

Only Apple could and can get away with releasing a product with sub par specs of it's peers, 6 months late and charge more for their product than their competition and make a killing on it. That's Apple's business and how they make money, their brand name and marketing is very clever and works very well for them. Same with iPods but I won't go there.

Was going to buy the iPhone5, but now that we have only got the iPhone4S I will hold out until the 5 hits the market, the iPhone is superb and its screen is so responsive and it is so easy to use.

Android really is not for me and the idea of having to scan your phone for viruses is beyond a joke, Apple products do what they say, they are more expensive and have the style factor. Android fanboys remind me a bit of jealous Toyota car owners slagging off lads with BMW's because they can't have one and not every body likes, wants or can afford the best I suppose so will always then cut down what they can't have.

I am glad in a way that iPhone5 has not come out as when it does it will probably be quite expensive and I wish Apple would make it more exclusive so that less riff raff could afford it as Apple has already lost quite alot of its exclusive appeal and it risks going down the Android mass market Toyota type bullsh1t.

In short, if you're on a 3GS now then it's quite a tasty upgrade.
But if you're on a 4 already and nearing the end of your silly contract, I don't think it's worth getting tied up in another one for the 4S.

Personally I'll wait for something that feels more of a change. Wether that means waiting for a 5 proper or jumping to another brand, I haven't decided yet. I'll see how my 4 handles the iOS 5 first anyway.

there's no doubt this is an underwhelming release but with ejits like myself they will sell them by the bucket load
