That should be the epitaph engraved on your tomb stone Retr0.

Aye, he really should write a little application that auto creates a post "<insert game name here> hasn't aged well..." anytime anyone mentions an N64 game not in his special list. Will probably add weeks onto his life expectancy! :D

Lets just say it's the hoth bits that have aged the best.

Actually saying the game has aged is wrong because shadows of the empire was always a terrible game.

New arrivals today. My Bomberman and Puyo Puyo collections are expanding! :)

    1. Bomberman [PSP, PAL, CIB], Bomberman Hardball [PS2, PAL, CIB], Bomberman [NGAGE, PAL, BNIB, SG-OCD]
    ISFzr.jpg

    2. Puyo Pop Fever [PS2, PAL, CIB] and 6v 5a Power Supply [BNIB]
    0lO2x.jpg

Also scored a nice BNIB copy of Vertical Force for 99p delivered. Looks like I'm in the market for a Virtual Boy now. Are the games/consoles region free?

    Yep it's region free.

Perfect. I tried looking it up earlier but couldn't find much info on that or the NGAGE region coding (if any).

Trying to source a cheap NGAGE QD for Bomberman and Puyo Pop but didn't know if they were locked down.

    Well, thanks pdbhp!
Went into the Balbriggan branch of Gamestop just to nose around and I noticed that there were no copies of Aliens Infestation around at all.
I asked the minion about them and he asked the rather attractive manager lady...
Before I knew it the game was in a bag and I was asked from 35 euro!
What could I do but suck up the shame and hand over the credit card :(

So now I own a totally unexpected copy of an excellent game, not too bad I suppose...

Gordon Freeman would have had the courage to say "just looking, not buying", I'll bet he would!
Of course, he'd also open a gateway to a dimension of monstrous organic nightmares to feed off of our faces and turn us into ravening mindless creatures, a bit like Tallaght really....

I hate when do they do that, if I ask if a game's in stock it's scanned through and bageed up in seconds. Always feel embarrassed when I have to say, ehh no I don't actually want it thanks :P

Lol why would you ask if they had it if you didn't want to buy it? Or are you hoping they'll say no so you don't have to fork out the cash? :)

I just wanted to know how much it was, that way I'd know how many litres of love custard I'd have to donate to make up the funds.

Ha ha glad I caused all this misery. Nice game can't believe you got suckered by them though.

I have noticed that it wasn't on any shelves they just had them hidden, waiting to pounce on unsuspecting nerds:pac:

I've been playing it all evening it's fun but some of the ememies are frustrating though most are pretty easy.

Went into the Balbriggan branch of Gamestop just to nose around

I was in there last weekend and saw signs for pre-ordering Zelda Skyward Sword so I enquired about it at the counter.

Me: "Hi, can I preorder the new Zelda game?"
Sales Assistant: "(taps at the computer) Sorry we don't have it in stock."
Me: "... I know. I would like to pre-order the special edition of Skyward Sword."
Sales Assistant: "(taps at the computer) Sorry we don't have that one either."
Me: "It's not out until November, I want to pre-order a copy of the special edition."
Sales Assistant: "Oh right, eh sorry it's actually not available for pre-order yet."
I then pointed to the display stand that advertised pre-ordering the new game. The dude started taping away at the computer again but I just said don't worry about it and left. I don't know whose head hurt more after that conversation.

RAGE Sales Assistant: "(taps at the computer) Hmm. Sounds obscure and Japanese."

RAGE Sales Assistant: "(taps at the computer) That'll be.....oooooh....€97 please."

I preordered skyward sword in gamestop clarehall on the twelfth of september
with no problems. The girl told me it would be 50 for the regular or 60 for the special, bit of a no brainer if you were even considering getting the regular edition. I just hope the controls don't feck up the feel of the game too much.
The wii remote is going to join the zelda hardware line up.:D

Quite a rare release - a collection of Blood and both of it's addon packs, plus hints/secrets strategy guide. I don't think this was ever released in Europe. Got it for quite a good price :pac:

    Brilliant! Love the Blood games!
I even liked Blood II :the chosen

Few arcade bits arrived for me today.
Not the most exciting delivery ever but it sets up my next delivery nicely.

12 Sanwa buttons for a 2 player 6 button Egret 3 control panel I have on the way.
50cm Jamma extension cable (very handy)
CPS 2/3 kick harness (I have a rather large shipment of 20 CPS2 boards on the way from Japan so this is a must :D )
2 new coin slots (including one that allows 1 euro coins through)

    dsc5318.jpg

I also have 2 hacked Xbox 360 pads on the way from one of the guys over on Arcade Otaku that should be here this week. Just need to source myself a jtag xbox now to save on the disc swapping.

Yeah, I really like the colours myself.

I was over in Tokyo the other day and hand picked the CPS2 boards from a private seller and shipped them home myself.
A friend of my mine in Tokyo put me onto the sale as she knew the guy(he's a former arcade manager, wonder where he got the games from :D ).

So I hopped on a flight and went over and hand picked the ones I wanted from his collection of I'd say about 150 CPS2 boards (some duplicates of course).

I even managed to bag a Black "Marvel Vs Capcom" CPS2 all in one board which is kind of cool.

Once the sale was all sorted and every game tested the boards were shipped and I spent a couple of cool days in Tokyo and then headed home.

    ...20 CPS2 boards?

    20?

    20?!!

Surely that amount would require a football stadium to store? I barely had room for 5.

Feckin hell man, I can't get my head around that. Fair play! Can't wait to see list of games.

Are they phoenixed? Or will you have to take a week off work in 5 years or so to replace all the batteries? ;)

The batteries were all replaced a couple of weeks ago.
I might look into getting them phoenixed so I don't need to worry about suicide batteries.

    here's the list :
    Progear
    1944: The Loop Master
    Mars Matrix
    Street Fighter Alpha 3
Marvel vs. Capcom (Black all in one board)
    Giga Wing
    Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers Revenge
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
    X-Men vs. Street Fighter
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers
    Alien vs Predator
    Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors
    X-Men: Children of the Atom
    Street Fighter Alpha
Dungeons & Dragons: Shadow over Mystara
    Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
    Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness
    Dimahoo
Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition
    Jangokushi: Haō no Saihai

Few decent games in there I think, and a few not so common ones as well.
These are the English names of course but the are all Jap games.

I'm not the type that posts every retro item I get here but I'll post up pics of these when they arrive as people might be interested in them.

If I posted everything I think some people would come around and beat me to death for being a "look what I got, again" dude, and rightfully so :D

Now I must go and clean my top hat and monocle as I need to prepare a display case for some vintage cameras I have coming tomorrow (something new I'm starting to collect).

Just in case you didn't read Enternow's wise words of wisdom a while ago - store them upside down while there are still batteries in them. Just means if there is a leak, gravity will take it away from the precious board.

Hah! There's always something else cool to collect isn't there? I've spent the weekend scouring ebay for more vintage Pioneer hifi separates. Maybe we should start up a support group.

Thats a handy bit of info about storing them upside down, makes sense when you think about it.

I think my girlfriend would be on board with the whole support group thing.
She looks at some of the stuff I get delivered and kind of just goes "ehh , ok Steve" and probably thinks about moving back to Italy.

Anyway, I'm on a sick day today so I better go. That Battlefield 3 beta isn't going to play itself.
Although I''m well sick of just having the one multiplayer map to play.
