    Tomorrow's Independant front page:

OUTRAGE - As Norris swats a fly.

It will be death by a thousand cuts for Norris's campaign.

This is what gets me about the Norris camp/supporters. The hypocrisy of claiming 'just another non story', when we all know if another candidate had been engaged in the equivalent behaviour, they'd be getting ripped to shreds where Norris again gets off lightly. 90% of the media today don't even seem to carry this story.

Compare that to last week when it was www.breaking-DavidNorris-news.ie and www.RT-DavidNorrisForPresident-é.ie/news

I don't care about this story, I care about the previous story trying to get a criminal off the hook. This is still abuse of power in any case.

I won't be voting for him as I think he is a bit crazy and seems like he can fly off the handle quite easily. Far more stable candidates than him I think although not many!

How come Norris always goes out with foreign blokes?

If he was on boards he'd be starting "Foreign guys are hotter than Irish guys" threads in AH.

I simply didn't know it was where one who is elected talked about their lovers and worked for their own ends.

They are suppose to represent the interests of the country, not their own personal love affairs.
I think the point of the senate is to have a wider range of opinion expressed than the Dail; the members are drawn from a range of Irish society and are not so constrained by party whips.

I think its good that senators should talk about issues that effect them personally, and I'm quite sure that when Norris was using his position in the senate to lobby for homosexual law reform, there were people who accused him of using his position to lobby for his own personal causes.

[In general, I think Oireachtas members should shy away from lobbying on individual cases, be it an immigration case of someone known to them, or a medical card application for a constituent or a pothole in their constituency etc ..., but sadly this is the system we happen to have]

Every politician in the land has done the likes of that (doesn't make it right though). I'm uncomfortable with him being singled out. Its a witch hunt.

Do you really think that if other politicians had done what Norris repeatedly has done, you really think they'd be let off the hook ? You seriously believe Norris has no responsibility in any of this ? It's just a 'poor david the victim' witchhunt persecuting him ?

Why did Norris not just marry his boyfriend if he wanted to get him into the country?

    Oh wait...

I can't take anymore, look I stepped in poo as a kid, wiped it off the doormat and told no one ~~~ everyone looked at me anyway.

Next time I do something like this I say it in the Senate it's CLEARLY OBVIOUS NOONE listens to on in the Senate if these things can be kept so secret for so long whilst languishing in public reports and printed newspaper articles and senate reports.

It's totally too that no one reads these reports when published the first time.

Clearly his preference for tanned buttocks is an issue that needs to be raised.

Is that because of a general dislike of that word ?

Or is it because of a special dislike of that word in relation to anything David-related ?

Typical Irish attitude, "Ah shuar what's the harm?" It's nepotism, plain and simple. And nepotism is a huge problem in Ireland, it should not be acceptable from a presidential candidate.

    What's the big deal?

The fact that norris seems to think he can run to the seanad everytime he wants to get help with getting boyfriends off statutory rape sentences/immigration issues?

No. Because there is no evidence that he was Norris' 'fcukbuddy'

Oh bollox, two of my friends who applied for citizenship got the support of a local TD. So what? Most Irish run to their TD to get a hole in the frigging road fixed.

I am so bothered Norris did that - meh!

IF Mitchell had done this for his GF (instead of Norris for his bf) and someone then referred to Mitchells GF as his fcukbuddy - would you equally object to the use of that word in that case ?

    Um, yeah. I would.

A fcukbuddy is not a GF. It implies sex only.

It might depend on whether the guy asking looked a bit tanned, and a bit of rough.

If one were to spend some time in the ladies lounge, one might get the impression that's all boys think GFs are for too ~~

I wasn't asking you - I was asking to the person who objected to my use of the word in relation to this thread (unless wires have been crossed).

I am looking to determine if this is a general objection to the word itself, or just a specific objection in relation to anyone using that word in relation to Politicians in general or David Norris in particular.

To be fair, I've a problem with him pleading for clemency for Ezra Nawi as he committed a crime. Pleading for asylum for people is not limited to David Norris -- countless politicians have done the same.

Looking to get your boyfriend an Irish pasport is not the same as helping an asylum seeker.

You were asking the thread. Thats the way it works. Otherwise take it to PM.

Yes. I'd object to your slurs wherever you use them.

Do you think its OK to describe someone as a 'fcukbuddy' when there is no evidence that he was? If not, why did you do it?

As of this morning, Norris is leading my shortlist, I've eliminated three and won't consider them anymore

As of now Norris gets my No1 until I hear more publicly available 'revelations'
