What's wrong with taking intelligence aiding drugs? If you want rocket boots, hover cars and hover trousers we have a better chance with them.
I'm for putting them in the water. The only downside would be scum getting more intelligent and robbing you better.

    And this is scientifically proven?

ADHD is a myth, yes. It's common knowledge that met drugs increase mental performance. No specific citation required.

Okay so just to clarify, ADD and ADHD are a myth and everyone should be drug tested for performance enhancing drugs before a state examination?

They can usually be prevented/eliminated/drastically-reduced by a reduction in sugars and fat in the diet, actually.

In my day, a wooden spoon was usually sufficient.

    Yes.

And the mythological:rolleyes: ADD and ADHD have what to do with this subject?

These pseudo conditions are used to justify the prescription of these drugs. It's marketing pushed as legitimate scientific enquiry, minus the science. OT though.

Drugs that are prescribed to people with them are given drugs such as Adderal, which will boost concentration.

Prove the ADHD disease hypothesis. My position is the default. Something ain't real until proven otherwise.

Enforced limits on those drugs and an outright ban on crap like ritalin.

That is such bull****. Are you saying tobacco and caffeine aren't 'real' drugs or something?

Live with an autistic person before you decide ADHD doesn't exist.

All drugs are "real". The effects vary though.

Fair enough, seems a little strong to say that these conditions do not exist though, there are many people out there who have to deal with these conditions on a day to day basis and I am sure they would not appreciate your saying that their condition is a myth. I will however agree that drugs like adderall and ritalin are often prescribed too quickly when a change of diet or other kinds of therapy may have better effects, drugs are sometimes needed to help when all other options are exhausted.

Autism exists. ADHD is Bull****. I made a mistake though, a disease can exist in nature without discovery. However, a strong scientific basis for any claim should be provided.

Eh.. Autism and ADHD aren't the same thing.

I remember smoking a bong before an exam once and getting a B.

It was more like a performance-reducing drug though.

They should just ban drugs I say.

My bad, I misread it. Regardless though, not all conditions are just obvious symptoms you can trace, particularly not mental conditions. They deemed many people to be just insane 30 years ago when they didn't see obvious symptoms, don't just dismiss ADHD.

I've seen some stupid threads in my time, but this one ranks right up there as one of the very worst. Bravo, OP. You've introduced us all to a new and exhilarating stratum of preposterous ideas.

Without a sufficient basis for it's existence, I am afaid I will have to disagree. Autism is well documented in comparison.

Why don't you just study more and not cry about people who did better than you but you'd still like to feel intellectually superior to.

Hold on now. What if Insect Overlord was on drugs when they typed that?

Do they still get a star?

    Is this a test?

All you've done so far is shift the burden of proof onto everyone else in a pretty transparent attempt to avoid revealing that you probably have nothing other than a hunch that ADHD doesn't exist. Or let's call it a gut feeling. Grrr, excuse used by maladjusted brats and their overbearing mothers! Grrr. Psychiatry? Hah! And let's not get you started on the flouridation of water, eh?

I mean, a person who believes the diagnosis and epidemiology to be bunkum might like to be conscientious and share their insights with the rest of us. You'd be doing us a favour.

But hey, I'll go with a hunch right here - what do you know?

Because I already aced em. I tend to not make presumptions about random assholes on the internet. Congrats, you're average.

I don't think you understand the concept of Scientific enquiry. A hypothesis is exactly that.

Nice try. Here's the thing. We know that ADHD is in psychiatric diagnostic manuals, is recognised by therapists, doctors and other health care professionals, and there are drugs prescribed apparently to treat it.

Now, call me silly here, but if you want to up-end this consensus (and that's perfectly possible to do), you might need to do more than sit back on your ass and tell us: You! Monkeys! Do my work for me! Big Pharma! Psychiatry! There is no evidence because I say so! MURRR.

It's just that, on the face of it, denying the existence of ADHD and not bothering to adduce even some cursory support for your claim is laziness. At least put a pony into this race - y'know, like an argument.
