Just wondering if you'd like to be a parent? I'm not offering :P

Personally I'd like to be a father some day, I know it comes with a shed load of responsability but I'd like to pass on the genes, God help the poor mite :P

I know that some here are parents, I had a good laugh at Biggins' post about one of his kids foaming the house :D

Tis a question i really can't answer at this stage... Maybe, maybe not. I have no strong feelings either way which probably means I shouldn't have a kid

I'd like to be a mother, unfortunately I'm a man but I'm considering adopting and breastfeeding with this http://greatinventions.tv/products/images/mrmilker_large.png

Well I'm at a time in my life where I'm looking forward to being a grandfather actually, and that's the truth of it.

I love children, and loved raring my own two.

I am a mother of 3, after no.3 I was so over being pregnant and all the toddler antics I was just riding the storm until she became fairly independent. Now they're all at school and it's great.

I love them dearly, but I never want to go through baby stage again - I'm happy to mind my nephews and nieces but glad to hand them back!

Good man, I have a terrible feeling I'll be a horrible parent, but I think it's one of those things you sort of figure out as you go :)

I think women have an in built motherly instinct, whereas men are sort of dense, we try our best but to be honest, we are fairly thick when it comes to kids :D

Im sure they skipped the motherly instinct with me, so probably best not to have a kid. id love to get a puppy though, does that count?

Didn't we have a similar thread last week? I know it asked "should you?" rather than "do you want to?", but to me the two questions are basically the same.

Having a kid is not a luxury item like a piece of chocolate cake, where you could say "I want to but I shouldn't", then do it on anyway on a whim. It's such a major commitment that (in my case) knowing it's a bad idea stops me from wanting it.

In its pure form, fascism is the sum total of all irrational reactions of the average human character.

in my experience, jack russells just seem to bark at the wheels of passing cars.
I want a scottie or a bichion frise, or however you spell it.

I don't at this very moment in time. I did when i was in my early 20's, but now i'm in my late 20's i'm getting more selfish and don't think i'd be up to looking after babies. Give me a child at the age of 4/5 and i'll raise that, at least they can tell you why the fook they're crying and won't shut the fook up!

    I so don't have parental tendancies! :)

We got a dog last year (King Charles) and I'm not joking you, but he is harder work than the children!

I'd love to be a father, I've 6 neices and nephews and just seem to have a knack with kids, it's one of the v few natural talents I have but after a stream of disastrous relationships there's nothing on the horizon unfortunately.

ditto - my biological clock is digital or else the battery ran out - I've always said I'd never have children, and I was right, I usually am though! :D:D

if you're getting a pet, get a cat, they'll feed themselves when you forget, also you can still go away for a week and they'll fend for themselves - dogs don't tend to do that!!!

I can't wait to be a dad! In a weird way, I'm looking forward to the sacrifices I'll have to make - it gives purpose to the bull**** job and 9-5 drudgery.

I think I have missed the boat there! Couldn't imagine it anyway, I can barely look after myself.

It's something you have to evaluate as you get older. And your views change, as with everything. Most people obviously don't want them or at least are not bothered when they are in a certain age bracket which is normal I would think.

I always liked kids but wasn't always sure if I would have any but I couldn't imagine not having them now.

No because unfortunetly a lot of people think along the same lines, and when eventually a new bouncing baby arrives the dog is usually sent to the pound, where (in most pounds) if the dog is not rehomed within five working days its killed.

I've two dogs, a lovely Pitbull (Richo) and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Ruby) and they're twenty times more work than a child, but just as affectionate and fun loving.

Note to people talking about paternal and maternal instincts. You don't have them until you have kids, hence the use of the words maternal or paternal. :)
