People are sheep, some just have different shepherds. Aren't you the guy who was too scared to fly to New York on September 11th because of what he read in a tabloid?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

How can any rational human being fall for this tripe?

could the same not be said for christians that believe in some old guy with a beard that built the world in 6 days and a "virgin" having a baby?

or the same with the suicide bombers and their virgins waiting for them mumbojumbo?

some people need something to believe in, some are more feeble brained that others of course. be i worship at teh alter of The Flying Spagetti monster

An alien overlord in a fancy spaceship seems more plausible than some ineffable heft of gas who records our wrongdoings from on high.

    Credit where it's due.

Every religion is firm about it's beliefs.
Every religion is firm the beliefs of other religions are wrong.

Yes, Scientology is a cult not a religion, but the difference is the intent of the leaders, not the irrationality of their beliefs.

    Accept it and move on.

No. They are achingly credulous, over-enthused cretins who follow a wacky science fiction writer who, in turn, quickly relieves them of their easily-earned money (an act they participate in in return for tax exemption and a lift with the aliens).

It's like following Roald Dahl and praying that Gizzard Gulper and Child Chewer don't come and get us by giving lots of money to Sophie Dahl, who has the ear of the BFG (and a lifetime supply of frobscottle).

    Codologists. And eejits.

Nice condescending all knowing post detailing why you are intellectually superior to those who choose to believe.

    As opposed to.....
The Belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father and can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree... yeah, makes perfect sense

    Each to their own

If you keep your brain in stand-by mode, you can believe just about anything.

No, a nice post detailing the arbitrary distinctions between the beliefs of one religion and another.

All make similar claims, non are provable.

Why can't they leave vulnerable, gullible people be and stop taking their money and forcing them to cut off their loved ones and then shunning them when they dare question anything ?

Which was condescending and arrogant and hinted at your perception of feeble mindedness among people who choose to accept reliigion as part of their lives.

You call it nice. I call it condescending.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Snow_White
Operation Snow White was the Church of Scientology's name for a conspiracy during the 1970s to purge unfavorable records about Scientology and its founder L. Ron Hubbard. This project included a series of infiltrations and thefts from 136 government agencies, foreign embassies and consulates, as well as private organizations critical of Scientology, carried out by Church members, in more than 30 countries; the single largest infiltration of the United States government in history

    Stupid like a fox

They encourage people who are mentally unwell to come off their meds. I call that harming, especially if those meds are for schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. They could end up hurting themselves or loved ones.

If scientologists dont do it someone else will. People exploit those who are more vulnerable than they are. Thats not exclusive to scientology.

I'm not a scientologist. I just choose not to question their intellectual prowess.

I know.. I was being disingenuous. The organisation has also been implicated in a number of murders.

I have no perception of religious people. 95%+ of the people I know are religious, I don't look down at them.

What I do think is stupid though is when believers of one religion criticize the beliefs of others. As firm in your beliefs as you are a Muslim is just as firm in his beliefs. To me looking in from the outside it's the pot calling the kettle black. Either the Christian or the Muslim is wrong, they can't both be right. The way I see it is they're both on a level playing field pretending they're sitting closer to divinity than the other, and it's completely silly.

right back at ya. last time i checked i was in AH so the use of a condescending attitude was permitted. furthermore my personal opinion while you may feel it is condescening is my own and i am entitled to it, as you too are entitled to yours, you are obviously of the opinion that there is some greater power. well more power to ya, i dont as i have seen no evidence.

the fact remains that each belief system asks its followers to have faith/belief that what it preaches is right and what the other preaches is wrong. likewise a nonbelief system ie a person that believe in no God, Lizard, Spagetti Monster, Force etc is actually the same as the believer because they too have faith that their system is right and all the others are full of bunk. so who's the more foolish, the fool or the one that follows him?

    .

not sure if thats directed at me or someone else, anyway i never claimed to be intellectually superior, on teh other hand your tone does that for you by implying i was condescending. people that taken in by something that there is no way of proving it are feeble minded to me, i need proof to believe in something. does that automatically mean i am intellectually superior?

so in essence believe in pie. because i can see it and i can eat it

It wasnt your original post that I was talking about though when I mentioned condescension,.

I understand the conflict between the the beliefs of one religion over another. Thats always een the case.

    so in i like pie

I never metioned what my religious beliefs may or may not be.

Those people who choose to practice their religion, whatever that may be, should be entitled to do so without interference. Just as non believers should be afforded the same privilege.

If thats the case then you insinuated intellectual inferiority in believers. Surely the use of terms like "flying spaghetti monster" and "mumbojumbo" insinuate this
