Does anyone know if we need to bring any paper work to the interview such as C.Vs or exam results etc?
    :)

No, I brought stuff just in case but they only ask you about stuff on your original application and maybe a few other things.
I may be wrong but if you get the job they might want copies of your leaving and any other certs you said you have.

Thank you :) .. is there anyway we can get our application online before the interview to go over what we said? I can really remember what the application entailed as its seems like such a long time ago :(

The information you give in the application goes on the Eircom pages and i could not get any info back.

If you go to eircom.net/apprentice and log in with your details you can go to my application and review your application form.

If you log onto the Eircom apprentice webpage you should be able to get a copy of it there's no problem. I would defiantly go over that and be familiar with everything you put on it. If you were working before get at least 3 or 4 examples of customer problems and time's when you solved a problem etc. for every job/volunteer work you had

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately i have followed your steps and am unable to find my application once i have logged in??? :O

when you log in you should see a box that says, application reference and stage, under application it should say Eircom apprenticeship. If you click that it should download a PDF copy of your application.

    had my interview recently ...

anyone who's worried, don't, was fairly informal chat if anything else, structured around the usual interview questions... was in there just over an hour I think, two person panel,

pointers for anyone who still has to do it,

-know about Eircom, what they do, what sectors they have business in, number of users etc...

-read up on the usual HR type questions, teamwork, examples of using your initiative, times of conflict, customer service questions the STAR format was mentioned earlier on in the thread, and links to the standard type HR questions, PLEASE have a look through this

-know about the program, it show's your interested and will give you talking points/ questions to put to the panel

-I seen mention earlier technical topics being discussed, don't worry if you don't have loads of technical experience or anything, even simple stuff like setting up your WIFI at home, wiring plugs, setting up sound systems etc... they just want to see that you have an interest in technology and are keen to mess about with it, and not some dude who writes poetry and is looking for a job stop gap ....

-show interest in Eircom, the program, and you're intentions of staying there after the program, again, they're not looking for stop gap people

    - try not do yourself the injustice, and be nervous, everyone gets nervous, but try not let it impeade your interview, they're nice people and aren't out to catch you out, they just want to know more about you if anything else....

last of all, best of luck to everyone, from what I make out, there's a 1 in 2 / 1 in 3 chance of landing a job if you got as far as the interview stage.

Good LUCK TO ALL OF YOU. The waiting is terrible. Any kind of an apprenticeship is so hard to achieve those hard times.

The building was unbelievable alright and people were indeed very friendly, can i ask what parts of the interview you found tough?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 142 ✭✭lezza

not saying it was tough tough but comprehending exactly what they wanted from your answer and staying truthful to yourself, i.e what skills do u have in problem solving, trying to convey this in a clear way was a tad difficult imo,

but in general it was a general job interview with a few eircom related questions added
