Breaking Bad meets the office....love it. 37secs

Oh and a few other guyz too.

Stunning episode. Jesse really is working his charm on Gus and Mike. Saving lives for real this time.

What do you guys think of this?

Almost looks like Mike is drawing his gun on Jesse. Certainly doesn't look like he was about to draw it on whoever opened fire on him.

no doubt he was about to shoot jessie there, he was looking straight at him, so much for the buddy buddy routine

bit disappointed by the plausability of the mass poisoning thing, scientists will tell you that no way in hell would 8 people go down at more or less the same time from a poison like that, there would be a variance in reaction times to the poison of a few minutes or more at least due to a whole range of possible factors yet it seemed like they all more or less went down together except for boss man going down at the end, in reality it's very unlikely a plan like that would work as 1 or 2 would go down while others were still feeling unwell and then the unwell ones would start firing their weapons off - the way the scene was shot basically admitted the implausibility of it as it didn't show them going down, only showed gus returning from toilet and all men down, as if none of them would react after the first one or two went down or as if they'd all go down within a few seconds of each other, style over substance in that particular scenario i'm afraid and unlike breaking bad to take the easy option

To knock drama back to reality, the whole meeting / mass murder depended on a successful cook - therefore if I were Gus I would have taken Walt to Mehico. Guarantees the cook. Off him at the celebration. The faith I don't have in Jesse could be repaid in other ways.
But fcuk it, if drama were reality Shakespeare would have been a cobbler.

It looked to me like he was looking a bit to the right of Jesse and scanning the horizon for trouble. The same basic direction Jesse was looking in.

Gus had just specifically saved Jesse by giving him an excuse not to drink the tequila, which suggests he didn't want him dead. Maybe he just wanted another gun to help get out safely, but in that case it would make sense to leave Jesse alive a while longer and execute him in the desert, rather than while they were still in danger.

Breaking Bad is a great show, but the action sequences aren't their strongest suit, so I think you could be reading too much into action choreography that is slightly off. From a plot point of view, they needed to have Mike have his gun out to be an immediate threat that the cartel guy would shoot, otherwise he would have shot Jesse first.

Just reminded me I had a bit of a freak out when Mike was shot. I was gonna be pretty pissed off if he died so easily. One of the best characters on tv.

NOW THAT, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IS ****ING TELEVISION.

Any doubts I had about this season vanished in those last fifteen minutes.

That's the hardcore Breaking Bad I like to see.

Nah, when Mike said "I promise you this, either we're all going home or none of us are", I think he meant it.

Good to see Jesse's time playing that computer game wasn't wasted.

Was anyone else thinking of the poison scene from the Princess Bride?

Edit: I wonder why Mike took the silver chain from the dead Cartel boss?

Awesome episode, great final scene. The heart to heart scene between Walt and Walt Jr was good, well acted and was like the Walt of old. Just felt that went on a little long but it was nice nonetheless. Just one thing stuck in my mind, when Walt called Walt Jr Jesse, I'm thinking maybe Walt Jr tells Hank about Walt's little episode and nonchalantly tells him that he called him Jesse. Walt Jr doesn't know who Jesse is so he must be wondering why he called him Jesse. Anyway, seeing as Hank knows Jesse and knows he is involved with crystal meth, this might start Hank looking at Walt.

Fantastic stuff between Gus, Mike and Jesse and The Cartel. You knew when Mike told Jesse "either we're all going home or noone is" that **** was about to go down. I half-expected the package to have a bomb in it but that would have been obvious. All of them dropping dead was awesome and just proves Gus is the man, although I'm sure, if he survives, there will be ramifications.

This episode can only solidify Jesse's relationship with Gus and Mike. Surely he has repaid the debt of messing up at the end of last season by now saving Mike's and Gus's life, for real this time. That above .gif of Mike looking like he was pulling the gun on Jesse looked suspicious, but I think they would have done had him point a gun at Jesse more obviously than that to the viewer, plus Gus would have allowed him to drink the poison, plus they needed him still at that point with the getaway so I doubt it. Does look oddly like he was about to pull the gun on Jesse though.

Can't wait for the next episode

Maybe as proof it was them who killed the cartel people? Bound to be a lot of rivals who'd try and take credit for the hit so Gus would need some some sort of proof that it was him and as a message to others not to **** with him.

That sounds like a good possibility - I had been thinking Walt Jr would have gotten in touch with Hank alright but I hadnt though of him mentioning Jesse. It would be a good, and legitimate, way of turning Hank on to Walt and as good a place for a season ending cliffhanger as any.

Once again, never ever f*ck with Gus.

I'm off on holidays now so my wait is going to be really long before I can see what happens next.

Yes, when I realised that Gus was the only one drinking the toast I was thinking what if the crafty fella has been building up an immunity for years for such an occasion.

Funny how for the whole session it's been about trying to get Gus to take poison and he goes and takes it himself.

I was only expecting there to be 2 more episodes so it's even better that there's three :D

Saw the 'was Mike about to shout Jesse' theory on The Av Club comments as well, was considering it for abit straight after watching, but after reading another av club comment, was brought to my attention- if Gus/Mike wanted Jesse dead, they would have just let him drink the tequila.

Noticed with consequence Gus poping the pills because I had just taken a neurofin for a headache :o so that was still on my mind when I realised something inside the box was about to **** **** up, so the poison plan was pretty obvious, but still brilliant. As already mentioned, that shot of Gus leaving the bathroom was something really special.

I think thats one of the best endings to a tv episode I've ever seen. Only thing better that comes to mind is a few episodes of The Shield(which Breaking Bad is really looking like its going to compete with in my GREATEST SHOW EVER thoughts).

It sure looks like Mike was about to pop Jessie, but the poster above makes a good point. Why not just let him drink the poison? I suppose they might have wanted some back-up in case of a gun fight, but I'm not convinced...

Also, I hate the way characters find out about Walt's dirty deeds when he utters something to them in a semi-conscious state. Kinda cheap.

Only got to watch this now. Absolutely superb stuff. Gus is tv's most badass character without a doubt.

Best thing about this brilliant episode was Bryan Cranston's acting.

Classic episode which sees Breaking Bad back at its very best. One of my favourite parts of the ep was actually when Jesse lays down the law in the lab to the Cartel Chemist and doesn't flinch, you can see both Mike and Gus admiring Jesse's cojones for making the stand - he had some great lines too.

Not necessarily, as they probably thought they needed every man to help get out of there (Mike told Jesse to find a gun), and once outside now that they had escaped the compound (almost) Mike could have taken the opportunity to execute Jesse. I must admit, it is hard to see though since Mike was building up a real affinity to Jesse.

It's hard to know what way the cartel angle is going to go. With Don whatever dead there's no reason for them to go after Gus, business-wise they'd be better inviting him in.

I imagine it'll be like in wrestling when they ring the bell over and over to get them to break up a brawl.

Even better as the chemist is played by the same guy who was a tosser on 24.

The theory about Mike about to pop Jesse I think is sound. Generally actors are given direction down to the smallest movement and for Mike to make that type of gesture without any obvious danger then it was scripted that way. The change in Mike facial expression I think gives it away.

So the question is why would they shot him rather than let him take the poison. The only reason I can see is if the poisoning went wrong - Jesse could be their plan B exit strategy.

Killing him after the successful poisoning may have had the effect of telling anyone else that the cook is dead so no point in following Gus to the US - after all they still have Walt. That might have been the reason Jesse wen tand Walt stayed.

The problem now is that Walt is more or less redundant to Gus's needs. Jesse is more co-operative and can cook just as well and after basically saving Mike and Gus is more loyal.

On the whole Walt is in some serious $hit now - Gus on one side and the tax thing on the other.

If you look at how the plot has went this season it would seem that Jesse's only true purpose to Gus' operation was as leverage against the Cartel. He's an easier man to bend than Walt. I'm sure as well that Gus isn't unaware of the possibility of Jesse's dissent. I can't see any reason why he would want to keep him around now. He's certainly not 'one of the gang' and he never will be. I don't really buy the idea that Mike sees him as a buddy of any sort or there will be some Stockholm Syndrome deal going on later.

On the other hand, Walt is dying and Jesse is the only other one capable of cooking that purity of Meth. (although Walt's was something like 99% purity if I recall?)

Maybe thats why they took the silver chain, so Gus can dangle it in front of the guy in the nursing home?
