    Thats fact !

Carnmore and Kilpedder for instance. Other places like Ballyboden, Adamstown and Portlaoise I'd have heard but but would have trouble even finding on a map tbh.

Ballyboden and Adamstown are in Dublin

Dublin County. I was more referring to Dublin City previously.

    1. People with money

    2. Coping Class (Most of us)

    3. Underclass (Career doleites, druggies etc.)

    That about covers it.

Okay Fulton, upon reflection I can simplify what I said earlier.

    1. People with money.

    2. People without money
    .
    3. People who couldn't give a bollix.

Ireland's Class System in a nutshell.:)

southside dubliners think they are better than northsiders
all soccer pundits seem to have a working class dublin accent, whereas rugby pundits sound much classier
tcd students are much snobbier than ucd ones
no class distinction in the gaa, they are all the same
most golf clubs are very uppercrust as are some sailing clubs
big class distinction between schools, especially in the cities and bigger towns.i went to an all girls secondary school and we considered ourselves to be above the local vocational school

Ireland always had the name of a "classless" society ...unlike our neighbours across the pond.

    I wonder though .....

Even just lookin at the TV coverage of the recent matches...Soccer and Rugby would seem to point up some differences.

Coverage of the recent soccer match in Russia showed mainly a cohort of middle aged irish Fans...most of them looking fairly "weathered" and flashing a fair collection of "Goalpost teeth" and good rounded bumps under their lycra tops.

Average height about 5.5 i would say ..with typical 40/30 measurements.

A viewer would be forgiven if he/she took them for fork lift drivers/taxi drivers/storemen/ general operstives.

On the other hand it was very noticable to this poster that the crowd pictures at the Rugby in NZ showed a much younger demographic.....good proportion of females and all well groomed with shiny well cared for gnashers.

So is there a class distinction here ...an where does the avg GAA person fit in...uber culchie ? Professional person or what......

    Just arskin.....

Wait, class is now measured on the gap between ones teeth and height? Well! I'd better straighten up and stiffen the oul lip!

I've been a Leinster season ticket holder now for 6 years, I've been to all Leinster Vs Munster games in the last 4 years. I can speak from experience in saying when it comes to snobby supporters sadly Leinster takes it hands down, there's the "prawn cocktail brigade" as Roy Keane would put it who are the greatest shower of **** in the world.

The worst Munster supporters are the ones who moved to Dublin, found they now were earning a decent bit of money and decided to adopt a version of the "nouveau riche" D4 attitude while retaining their Munster heritage, turning them in a right dickhead.

Munster rugby is fairly classless, look at Moyross. It's a rugby stronghold yet a working class place with a reputation that rivals some of the worst parts in Dublin. You don't find any Rugby strongholds in the working class area of Dublin, it's pretty much Middle Class and above sadly.

alls I can see is there's predominantly two extremes, those who think emselves classy (money'd) and those who are determined to be absolutely lacking. I can't speak for the former personally, sheilded off from us in their own little world but the latter are all too prominent :/

I can't disagree with that but I'm sure that, thankfully, it will change soon. The whole country is following rugby now, like they began to follow soccer after '88
I'm from the sticks and people are a hell of a lot more inclined to watch rugby than soccer now and the clubs are getting to be huge

I hope this isn't just one golden generation and that with a nationwide pool we'll maintain ourselves as a worldclass team.

What else can we say we're worldclass at? Horse Racing and recently Golf and I hope we can keep those three

There are alot of young irish people that have emigrated to New Zealand and Australia at the moment, so it's not surprising that there would be a younger demographic attending....

    And as regards the

"A viewer would be forgiven if he/she took them for fork lift drivers/taxi drivers/storemen/ general operstives."

    and
    "uber culchie"
    That's just condescending ignorance!

    Just sayin...

it's getting a bit old now. maybe find another nemesis so flutterin can get on with filling his crown alone. Might be better to drop this running row, cos it's dull and catty and frankly, lifes too short, etc. Just saying, like. Or, in the sprit of this thread- loike.:)

err, there was no mention of either of those posters in my post you responded to, so you're the only one dragging it out here.

Ireland has many classes , in order of how their viewed in society (1 being least complained about / noticed)

    1) the true elite, money for years, political influence, live in massive stately homes etc...

    2) The very rich who arent cúnts , some politicians, self made businessmen etc.. like nice things but have no problem going to a chipper, flying economy class and dont need a bentley to show off their wealth

    3) The comfortable people - solicitors, doctors and businessmen on a decent salary who arent up to their eyes in mortgage debt , money isnt an issue, still down to earth and dont need designer clothes, porches etc... to be happy , own 1 or 2 houses and live anywhere except dalkey, dun laoighre or dublin 2, 4, 6 or 6w

    4) The surviving class - Have just enough money to get by , can afford the mortgage or are renting , change cars every 3-5 years and dont buy anything fancy , a few luxuries but not trying to pretend your rich. a night in a posh nightclub in the city is still considered a luxury

    5) the wannabe cúnt class - Have/had jobs but took out mortgages too big and bought bmw's on finance etc, trying to appear rich and spend their money hanging out in fancy nightclubs and buying designer clothes instead of paying the ESB bill

    6) The cúnt class - these are people who have money , and like to let everyone know , most commonly found in dublin 2,4,6,6w dalkey or dun laoighre , love driving 7 series just for the badge , name their kids saoirse and tarquin , have a range rover for the school run, only private school will do , rugby is the only sport they follow and see gaa or soccor as 'commoners sports' , use the words 'pleb' 'commoner' or 'scobe' when talking about people, do their food shopping in that avoca shop off the n7 , they may have money but nobody really likes them and we all wish theyd go away

    7) the scum class - people perpetually on the dole , serial single mothers , people who treat having kids like a trip to a goverment ATM , drug addicts , people who stroll round in tracksuits tucked into socks , think celtic are an irish football team and dutch gold is classy for.

I think in Ireland there are pretty much two groups -the Olé's and the Au Lait's

Ireland a classless society me bum-hole. When the country was in the grip of the catholic church, there was an absolute hatred of the poor encouraged.
