Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Zam Zam is definitely the best kebab in town, no need for the meal though.

It sure is! Haven't been in since Christmas time (2010). Got a snack box and could not believe the amount of chips i got. It was large enough to feed a family. Nice guys in there too.

Roberto's is fantastic.. just don't expect quick delivery from them. Ordered from them twice - both times waiting over an hour and a half.

    Passed by Borza..

.. it's now called 'Marras' or 'Mannas' or something to that effect.

The lads are sound in Roberto's.

The kebab is a bit small though

LOL. You used to swear by them.

    ;)

I'm afraid you're incorrect stew. I always said they're the nicest, which is true, but too small.

Oh, I thought you had started to prefer Zam Zams.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 18,335 ✭✭✭✭UrbanSea

Overall Zam Zam's due to taste and size.

If Roberto's were the same size I'd say Roberto's

    Nope.. but heard great things.

Tried Marras last night - got taco chips which were delish (although chips could have been a bit crispier). Real nice staff too.. hope they do well.

Just heading for Marra's now for a smoked cod & chips.

    Hope chips are better.

I hate under done chips. I would rather wait the extra few minutes in order to have nice crispy chips.

Where's the nicest pizza in your opinion?

Never really had chippers since I started in the IT (besides Domino's, but that's a bit too dear). Has to have delivery too.

I got a Battered Sausage and chips deliverd. Only thing was I ordered a Battered Burger and chips. Took ages for delivery and cold on arrival. Last delivery befoe that was a Smoked Cod and chips. Pleanty of chips and batter but very little fish.

Was a good customer of Robertos, but now hoping Marra's can be a better option.

    The Peppermill is fantastic..

.. definite new king of the Taco Chips.

The mince in their taco fries / burger is bloody amazing. Wait can be a bit longer than normal chippers as everything is done fresh, but it's really worth the wait.

Well I just finished my smoked cod and chips. Very tasty. Staff very nice. They even included two slices of lemon and a portion of tarter sauce!.

I finished a large kebab from Sligo Kebab House for the first time last night.

We went to get food from The Peppermill last week and have to say I wasn't impressed. The wait was over 30mins and the chips were cold under the taco. :(

So when is the Supermacs out on the Bundoran Road(is it?) supposed to open?

As a frequent visitor to Sligo I would enjoy eating here.

Also aware this is my 2nd thread about Sligo in the Sligo forum and 2nd about food :D

Aha. No Peking House tonight for me so. A trip to McSupers is in order. :D

Although lets be fair. You have a KFC drive through. I live in Limerick and we don't even have that. Two KFC's but for fatties like me who don't want to get out of the car.................:D

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 17,424 ✭✭✭✭Conor Bourke

Ate there on Sat, twas delish :D

We were deprived of Supermacs loveliness for so many years but then within two years we've two. Win!

I miss the carwash though ...that was a good one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,152 ✭✭✭✭Berty

Parking up there is nuts. Cars just abandoned along the entrance. All Parallel parked on the exit lane. :(

Some stupid boy racers circling the building randomly stopping to chat to their friends in another car in the queue. :(

Still food was good as per usual.

I know this is frowned upon BUT IT IS better than the Four Lanterns. :D

Where exactly is it? Is it where the old Mangan's place used to be?

    There's a drive thru I presume? Nice.
    Better than The Chicken Hut!?

Chicken what now, where's that? Incidentally, wasn't there a Chicken place meant to move in beside Abra? Posters for it are gone now so nothing must be happening?

i used to go to college in sligo.. 12 odd years ago..

i remember a chip shop that made this lovely burger sauce that was highly addictive to me!

we used to go there after equinox.... those where the days.

any of you know the name of the burger / chip place im talking bout? ????

That would be a Big 4

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,032 ✭✭✭✭Basq

4 Lights is only "decent" when you're hammered drunk or you're 12 years old.

Quite possibly the worst chips outside of McDonalds.

    Ah Here!!

Nothing compares to the Chicken Hut in Limerick!!! Nothing!!

Although Four Lanterns call me sir and the chicken hut fling the food at you.

Tried it out last Sat, doesn't even come close to a 4 Lights snack box. No way, no how
