Trying to get a nomination, what an embarrassment he would be if he became president give the scandals in the church. He acts like some sort of philosophical aristocrat, but its obvious at this stage he is nothing but a dirty old man with very questionable views on pedophilia, not to mention his disgraceful letters, the worst aspect of which was his attitude towards the victim, he just didn't give a fcuk about him.

Something I'm very disappointed at as I had planned to vote for the guy, thank fcuk the revelations came out before he got nominated.

Sad in this day and age that what are fore fathers fought for 100 years ago seems to have been in vain.

thy fought for freedom from british rule but also for freedom

freedom is allowing the pople of ireland to vote for whatever type of president they want
.. an english gay man getting unofficial votes for our PRESIDENCY!!!?? we beat the english

    british we fought the british

and gained over 90% freedom (26 counties)

    82% on my calculator

    and 100 years passes

first president was in 1938 thats 73 years and he was a prodestant

and were likely to give this english gay chancer the presidency!

    british

-they are turning in their grave thats for sure if they were here today what would they think? heres just my opinion; i reckon they would not have bothered if they knew that their kids kids would turn out to be a jedward loving,

what has jedward got to do with this

gay english presidential candidiate approving generation... shame on us this poor country on its knees has now lost its pride within itself.

i decided yer be satirical but i'll post anyways cos that took time

Still can't believe people will vote for him. Mad in the head if he believes he has a chance of being elected.

It says something about the other candidates when people would still be willing to vote for him over everyone else :/

Me? I was going to vote before the contraversy. Now I'm not even sure if I go on the day to vote, and if I do, I'll likely write "Martin Sheen" down on the paper, put a tick beside his name and put that in the box....

Sad thing is that every gay or person who thinks there cool kids will vote for him even though what he done in our name was downright stupid and wrong, so thereis every chance he'll be elected if he gets his chance.

so should we be allowed vote for him? should the unfair nomonation process be scrapped? or is it a way of preventing protest votes to a pretest candidate?

If he's on the ticket I'll be voting for him.
Met him on a few occasions and if foreign dignitaries are as charmed by him as I was then he is the man for the job.

Why would anyone vote for him?

TBH, most of the "candidates" dont deserve a nomination but sure we have to scrape the bottom of the barrel, polish turds etc etc

the last labour president this country had decimated it by opening the flood gates to every joe soap.

The president has no such power in this regard

While it was statutory rape and not actual rape that's what happened. I was extremely disappointed in him as I thought he was very suitable for the role.

I'd like to see him nominated so I could have the chance to specifically not vote for him.

Does he still like to let on he's not like other politicians?

Scandal breaks, he pulls out of the race and lie's low till people start to foget and its old news only for him to pop back up and reenter the race. Not cynical at all.

I met him once as well. Found him charismatic and very personable. Too bad he sent those letters though. Pretty much indefensible.

To be fair, he's now not the only one who's running who's tried to get his pals off from committing crimes, now is he ?

    Why the double-standards ?

Hope he gets nominated. Not sure if I'd vote for him after that letter fiasco. But I cant be bothered with anyone else that put their name forward.

Once again, it'd be remiss not to point this out.

Moral indignation from yourself, the poster who is on record as supporting the abduction and murder of mother of 10 Jean McConville - Taken from her home, shot in the back of the head and buried beneath a beach in Co. Louth.

No. It's a secret only everyone else in the country knows.

Long story short, his then partner was accused/actually did have sex with an underage boy (15 y.o. if I remember right) in another country. Norris wrote a letter to the court where he was on trial asking them to go easy on him. People have (and rightly so) taken this as Norris abusing his then position of power in order to get his then lover off the punishment for sleeping with the teen, while Norris has not come out and said pedophillia is wrong which has further rilled up people. In fact, some interviews seems to have him trying to justify older men sleeping with younger teens in certain cases.

Now, there's more ins-and-outs to the story but thats the simplified version of it....

I wonder will he "Fail Better" this time around?

I would like to see him run, and I would probably vote for him too. What annoys me about this is that someone/some group has very obviously run a smear campaign on David Norris from the very moment he originally indicated his intention to run. I think his writing of that letter was a stupid thing to do, but show me a politician who hasnt done something stupid and Ill vote for him/her instead !!
Let him run, and let the Irish Public decide his fate...the politicians have decided enough for us already this year !!

Isn't Norris a politician or has he been pretending all these years?

I'm not going to watch the Late Late. Bad enough drawing a salary from us after what he has done. Paying him for a TV appearence is a bridge too far.

Anyways Tuberty gets on my wick.

For the last time - WHAT "smear campaign" ?

He did what he did and is being appropriately judged - by some of us.
