Never got the sack but i did walk of a job in the end because the manager was on a power trip. I was planning on leaving anyway so i didn't care. HR rang me to discuss but i just wanted my P45.

I know some bloke who was sacked from a previous job after he ehhh.......had his hand under the table ;)

A guy i replaced as a hall porter in a hotel had just got the sack and came back one night and burned part of the hotel, mostly smoke damage but they never reopened that section due to H&S

Guy in my last job was fired for proposing a threesome to a female colleague for the princely sum of €2... shame it was in front of the HR representative's desk, who was listening...

I was told in work one weekend that in 2 weeks i would be let go, which I knew about anyhow as they were letting all part time staff go, anyhow, the manager never came in on a saturday and one saturday i was there on my own and the guy that owned the place came in wondering where the manager was, I told him he never came in on a saturday and I got a bollocking for it, was told that I should have been gone 2 weeks ago and was told to shut up the shop and get out.

That fecker is on tv now and is the worst store owner I have ever had to deal with. He has also been up in court a few time for unfair dismissal.

when i was younger in college, I worked weekend nights as a porter in a hostel, I had an agreement with the other porter I was on with that I would come back after clubbing round 2-2:30am and stay till the morning while he got to go home early round 5. We were both meant to start working at 10 and finish at 8.

Ended up coming in most weekend nights well on the sauce after clubbing having the deal with other drunken people messing around in their rooms, funny now looking back on it. Eventually got let go when things started getting out of hand after bout 6 months:)

The high standards in the private sector, eh?

The high standards in the private sector, eh?

Yeah, we could do the same for public sector, just tack a "then he got onto his union official, was taken back on with a apology and got promoted four times" onto the end of the story.

I turned up for work in a bar one night and someone else was working.
The owner was at a wedding so I send a text asking why I wasn't working and apparently i had been sacked without been told for giving someone a bottle of smirn off ice on a busy night and never took for it. So yeah i got fired without been told and the owner said in a text that "They were trying to run a business":pac: Im sure of some kind of rights there if i was arsed.

also got 4.30 taking out of my wages for the bottle. :pac:

In a company I worked for a few years ago, two Spanish guys got fired for using the company's servers to run an internet email scam. Everyone in the office were all complaining because the computers and the network was incredibly slow. One of the M.D.'s called a IT company to come out and look at the computers and they found the progams and files on the server that the guys were using to run the scam and traced it back to their computers. The two fella were promptly sacked.

A friend of mine had a bitch of a manager demand for months that they implement a IT solution to stop people looking at "disgusting" porn on their work machines. She obviously had a issue with the industry itself as well as a vendetta to blot it out from the world. So they brought in a program that scanned all the machines periodically as well as monitored all videos and images, backed them up and rated them on a scale of one to ten. Both inside and outside of the office(laptops). All staff were warned multiple times about the software and the implications of any material found when it was turned on. At the end of the month aside from a few unavoidable pop up images from web pages the only person found with porn, a considerable amount at that, was the manager who had requested it all be implemented. Her husband had been "using" it in the evenings. She wasn't very well liked at this stage and got her marching orders.

    Hoist by her own retard

    ..............

Lastly in the same company, a sales guy was on the way to a meeting to close a multi-million euro deal. His car wouldn't start in the morning, so he walked across the road and payed for a brand new Audi A4 with the company card............!

    Of course he did!!!!!

Never got sacked myself, but walked out of two jobs with my held held high because the boss was an egotistical pr*ck.

My mates have loads of sacking tales though. One mate turned up for work totally mangled after a three day bender and was promptly sacked on the spot for being a "H&S" risk.

Another mate was given his marching orders when he was servicing his line manager's computer and found some very kinky porn on it. He told said manager about it and was gone by the end of the week.

Another mate was fired for turning up late for his job all the time and on the day he was sacked left a dirty "gift" for his boss in his office.

I was working in a place on contract for 3 years on and off. I was told they were making the job permanent, but I'd have to interview for it. Told after interview that I didn't have enough Flash dev experience, so sorry but goodbye.

2 months later end up working for the company on the floor below, doing, among other things, Flash. The job is full time, permanent, nearly double the salary, pension, bonus parking (yay!), regular pissups and stock options (that recently matured).

About a year ago we were looking for a new bug database and who comes in to sell it, but my old boss. Sat through the meeting and did my best Dick Byrne "Nooooooooooo!!!!!!" Turns out he was sacked after I was sent on my way as they finally discovered he was useless. He's now working for some sh itty startup taht will probably be bust in a few months. Ha!

Never been sacked but have been in jobs where people have been. Mainly for the usual things - like one manager being utterly useless at his job!

But one interesting one was about 8 years ago when a guy in another area was sacked when his line-manager, borrowing his computer for a few minutes to run a quick DB query, hit CTRL-V on the guys keyboard and pasted into the query tool, a pornographic letter the guy had typed to a co-worker! That was what I heard anyway.

Ever since then, if I am using someone else's computer at work, or if I'd happen to be in an Internet Cafe (which wouldn't be very often anymore), I like to hit CTRL-V into a word doc and have a nose at what's on the clipboard. You can find some interesting things occasionally! Try it! :D

Was sacked from a part time job in a bar by a manager because he couldnt bully me.. He was constantly harassing the staff, bullying them, belittling them etc but I refused to give into it and constantly called him up on it and then finally I had enough, so had it out with him. He was shocked at first and then fired me..

I was glad to go, so strolled out, popped into my friend who worked in a bar up the road, told her what happened and she had a chat with her boss who offered me a job there and then :D

Funny thing is that the pub turned out to be the a fav haunt of my old boss, the bully. The look on his face was priceless when he walked in a few days later for a pint and I made of point of serving him. Apparently my new boss popped over and asked him if he planned on firing any more of his good staff, could he let them know as he would gladly give them a job :p

Only sacked once while living in Germany for hitting a customers dog that bit me. Customer showed up the next day looking to apologise and gave me DM1000 (€500) compensation. I only found out a lot later that the dog had more than likely bit another couple of people, was probably registered as such and might have been put down if I reported it to the cops. Its a sort of three strikes and your out for dogs over there. Owner was quite well off so if I'd known better I could have squeezed a few more bob out of him. :D

A place I worked for occasionally in Frankfurt sacked a guy for not making sure enough paper clips, pens, note pads etc were on the desks. A bit petty you might think. I remembered the guy as he had been to Ireland a couple of times with his uncles fishing. About a year later I met him in a reataurant with the owner of the company. Seems they were having an affair, she didn't want the other employees to find out so she "sacked him", got him a job with another company owned by a friend of hers where he was paid more and they could move in with each other without any bitchy comments. Happy days for both of them.

When in Frankfurt there was a case in court of a guy who worked for Opel (factory near Frankfurt) who had an issue with the company and changed the programme for car orders that came in so that it would up the equipment levels on each car, ie you ordered a basic radio cassette, you got a CD player with a changer, all cars got metallic paint, alloys, electric windows etc etc . He was sacked, but it seems the programme ran unnoticed for a few weeks and cost Opel over €15 million.

Know a guy who got sacked for pissing on a floor. He was trying it on with a Latvian cleaner, she was interested in him until she found out he was married (he left the ring in the car every morning) so she then told him she wasn't interested. He pissed all over the floor of the jacks, she told her supervisor, the company believed her and he was fired. Fair play to her.

Not in the least bit surprised. The amount of horror stories about I have heard from people who have worked for Tescos could fill a volume of encyclopedias. Dunnes is almost as bad.
