They're the same ones, they still show all 4 channels but the EPG only shows up for whatever's being broadcast when you tune them in.

    Afaics, it's only the service ids that are different; BBC3 - 6319, BBC4 - 6416.

Scan the same tp again after 7pm & save the resulting channels as BBC3 & 4. Move the existing to the children's section. :)

    Brilliant, thanks for that :)

So there are two of each, its just that the ones with the EPG come on after 7pm.

That link is for Satsklep. This crowd are a different outfit altogether.

Satsklep seem to have stopped selling it ,no longer on their site.

    It seems to be replaced with a newer model now, the Ariva 220 Combo;
    http://satsklep.pl/index.php?s=produkt&id_prod=1882&id_kat=279&id_typu=0

Looks the same as the A120, but it has Component-Out connections at the back of it.

The 220 is not a replacment for the 120 , its just a different model. The 120 is still being shipped by ferguson and as far as I'm aware there are no plans to replace it anyime soon.

Can one use a portable drive (one that is powered by USB) on the Ferguson box or do I need to get a powered external one?

    Thanks!

I use a portable one (Seagate 500GB drive) and it works perfectly. I also did a little bit of testing with a 4GB USB key and that worked perfectly too...

Looks like most drives 'up to' & including the WD Passport 1TB work perfectly well, (Ferguson do mention a ceiling of 750 Gigs), so I guess you should be cautious when buying a Hard Drive just in case it isnt compatible.

Here is a list of drives that do work, as tested by users from this Ariva 120HD thread:

    Aldi - 500gb hard drive.
Iomega - Select Desktop Hard Drive 500Gb
Seagate - 500 GB hard drive.
    Seagate - Expansion 500GB 2.5 inch portable.
Toshiba - 750GB 2.5 inch External StorE Art HDD
    Verbatun - 320GB hard drive.
WD - Passport Essential SE 1TB.
WD - Passport Essential SE 500GB.
WD - Passport Essential SE 320GB.

Please add to the list if you confirm a perfect match with the Ariva 120HD.

I have the Aldi 500g hooked up and it works well. One problem I have is when I look at the list of recordings, the titles on them are completely different from what I actually recorded:confused:. I have discovered what the box is doing: If I record Prime Time on RTE 1, and am watching the News on BBC 1, the box will record RTE 1 ok, but the title of the recording will come up as BBC News!!!!. Anyone got a fix.

It might work ...... but Ferguson are very clear about it ...... they advise NOT to use USB powered HDDs.

Flash drives are OK as they do not consume power for the mechanics of a HDD.

You may be lucky or you may not ..... either way it is your own decision to do what Ferguson advise not ..... ;)

Universal remote control. Control tv, receiver, amp and Dvd. Also a Common Interface module slot.

Not sure that remote is an advantage on the 220 , not easy to use .

The following information might help someone else out,

Having sold/installed over 20 of these, I got one back from a customer that wasn't booting up, when powered on it said "ON' then changed to "on" but hung there, now I suspect they were flashing the box with patched firmware or something as they had asked about such, but anyway replaced the box as it was within my warranty period and thought I would just have to reflash with NULL MODEM cable, tried flashing it numerous times (with ariva editor) and it did seem to take the flash but the same fault persisted after rebooting, was still sure it was a firmware issue so I persisted and tried the ALI Flash tool, again seemed to flash but same problem on reboot even with bootloader flash, So I had a 200HD abs file on my PC so decided to see what that would do, again it took the flash but on reboot showed a N in the display, then reflashed with the 120 firmware with bootloader selected and it came back to life, I have had it now testing for 2 days and it seems to be functioning perfectly.

So my guess it was a corrupted bootloader and reflashing was not properly overwriting the corruption, but after putting the wrong firmware on it and reflashing this seemed to overwrite the problem block.

Just following on from this Ferguson will not be shipping the 120 again for two weeks, perhaps thats why satsklep took it off their site.

Yeah apparently they have run out of some of the components and have had to stop production, will be available again in October. Apparently they have sold in much bigger volumes than they forecast, wonder how may of those went to Ireland, where the box wasn't really geared towards.

    This might be useful

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/85003/just_plug_it_in_networking_via_power_circuits.html

I would go for the faster if possible ..... 200Mb as opposed to the 85Mb as the real life speeds will only be about 50% of the max quoted.

It seems that speeds have increased greatly since I last looked at these ..... according to this page .....

Anybody have any tips on connecting this fine machine to the internet?
I have tried a lot of things but getting nowhere fast. I know its a minor thing but I would like to try and get the internet radio channels if possible - particularly www.skyradio.nl.

    Thanks in advance
