Okay, if you cant really see what legible 'standard look' font is then there is not much hope in someone here showing you.

Both examples you have are in around legible 'standard look' bold lettering. Good internal font spaces lines arent sharp.

    its not rocket science.

People who bend the rules know when they have broken them, you have to err on the side of pisstake.
i really dont know why you are arguing with me, i am in agreement with you?
i'm just interested to know the thoughts on people who say things like
No you HAVE to have nothing else but the standard on your car, anything else is illegal

its about the strongest thing you can write on a subject, its clearly wrong (since if there is no standard how can anything other than standard be illegal)

but feel free to continue arguing around in circles with me if you like...

Do what you want I was just stating my experience. Go into any Plate printers and ask for the standard plates. I doubt you'll get any 'what the hell is he talking about' looks like you are making out.
grand, so you just mean the standard that some shop prints.

at least you are being clear now. nothing to do with the law at all just whatever font the shop uses. or are you suggesting the shop has recevied legal guidance?

Im not going around in circles, disregard others as they dont know. Mine are germans, I assume yours are the same.

As i said ive dashes / county / EU bit and large bold font. As they are from Eireplates they do give a standard setup for the german font which falls in with size legislation.

So with Eireplates you are fine. If however you choose the Eireplates option of non of the items i have above (which you can) and also slap some german tax symbols on (which you can) you are inviting trouble from the boys in blue.

    Otherwise your not. Gift! ;)

Im also at the stage where i think you are being argumentative just for the sake of it.

Ive already pointed out what constitutes good font as above. Read it again if you so wish, or dont.

Not legal guidance but they are well up on the laws of it as they should be.

Agreed, This is going nowhere talking to you about this and this is not what the thread was created for.

i am being argumentative, but not for the sake of it.
drunkmonkey has said that if i go into a plate printers and ask for standard plates i will get some legally defined plates.

i think that this is absolute BS, and he has provided nothing to back it up. i dont see that such blatant misinformation should be allowed stand.

i understand what "basic" plates are (also called "standard", "plain", "average", etc) but i dont accept that just because these are the cheap ones stuck on cars that this is somehow now the legal definition of the correct font etc.

i am not trying to argue anyhting other than the fact that there is no single legally stipulated font. there are guidelines and i am very aware of them. but unless someone is positng a link to a law about the font then i dont think anyone should really have anything to argue with me about.

well its the first reply and thanked by the usual suspects on here so i think it needs to be corrected.

honestly, i despair at the level of debate on this board sometimes. nothing other than "the accepted wisdom" goes.

Im a usual suspect because i agreed with you and also gave you guidelines agreeing to what we agreed on?

And you continue to argue for the sake of it. I thanked Drunk Monkey because he is right this is going no where. Youve already brought this so far off topic that is ridiculous.

And dont refer to me as a usual suspect because it suits your insane arguementative agenda.

    Enough.

Not one of you is interested in helping the OP at this stage, and I don't think anyone's about to miraculously change their stance.

    Thread closed.
