In DU when the lecturer says 'Good morning' the class will reply 'Good morning sir'.

In UCD when the lecturer says 'Good morning' the class will grunt something back.

and in DCU when the lecturer says 'Good morning' they write it down.

So old that it's rumoured to be have been found by archaeologists scribbled as graffiti in the bog under the Colosseum.

Of course, you would probably need an arts degree before you could translate it ...

True enough, but then we have an over-supply of plasterers, bricklayers, architects, engineers (most types of), doctors ... in fact, just at the moment we have an over-supply of most things.

Are you looking for a serious reply in afterhours?!
Both universities are equally well regarded. You should make your decision based on what subjects you would like to study, proximity to university and the strengths of the departments in question. Don't choose on the immeasurable quantity of prestige.

    DCU is bleedin' rapa!

    - The back breaking walk from the canteen to the library, then scoffing food in library.
    - The vending machines that eat money.
    - The lovely girls, they all have lovely bottoms.
    - Being an amazing scientist.
    - Paper planes in T101.

    S'all good.

I think that the key question that must be addressed is Pancake Tuesdays mother.
Trinity is better by the way and a first is a first. But the only people I know who got jobs in classical civilisation teach in universities in the arseholes of america.

Maybe you could write detective novels set in ancient rome?

I rejected my first cao offer and my plan was to take a gap year and apply for arts in ucd. I wanted to do a double major in English and Irish. But I'm after getting my first choice in trinity in third round offers which was classical civilisations and modern Irish. As much as I love English I can't deny that I would love to do classical civilisations just as much. I think I kinda want to pick the university I'd have more fun at at this stage. Any advice?

Go to UCD. You know UCD has Greek and Roman Civilisation as an option for arts. It's the same thing as Trinity, but in UCD you'll finish your degree one year earlier. I did Greek and Roman Civilisation in UCD and its an excellent course.

Weigh up how much you really want to do either subject.

If you're still in difficulty, toss a coin, and see if you dread/regret the outcome even slightly.

Let's see, a giant factory (UCD), or a posh college full of twats (TCD)?

I'd imagine they're much the same as regards the standards of lecturing and degree received and stuff. They'd also both have more or less the same societies and social events.

On a purely superficial level though, I think Trinity is prettier and is in a better location. Also it's nice and compact; UCD is too big and spread out for my liking. So yeah, go with Trinity.

He can do Greek and Roman Civilisation and Irish in UCD and be finished 1 year quicker. Both degree's are worth the same and the teaching would be of a similar standard. In the spare year he can work or do a masters. Also in arts in UCD in first year you do a 3rd subject you drop in second year. He showed an interest in English so he can do that in first year.

They're both fine institutions so I'm sure he'll do well.

In that case, you don't need to waste time going to any university, unless of course they do degrees in cooking, cleaning, laundry and child-minding.
