When i was in school the best album i remember listening to was "So much for the city" it was around of the era of all the indie bands that were kicking off.

But if you could get over the very american sound they had going on,i really enjoyed all their music..its a shame they split up or a hiatus..

Anybody know what has happened to them all..where are they now?

They just couldn't sell enough records to stay on a mayor, it's shame if that made them cease their artistic endeavors. I was never a fan of them myself.

The best phrase I ever heard used to describe The Thrills was 'J1 Rock'.

Never liked them. Think I saw the keyboardist playing for Little Green Cars at EP.

They were an embarrassment, never understood how anyone could like them...million miles away from indie

Bland beyond belief. Indie me hole they were soft pop aimed at people who know no better.
    Good riddance.

    It's Miller Time!!

I loved when Gift Grub used take the piss out of them.

Think they are well and truely wound up.
Label kept on sending them their album back saying it needed to be better.
Think they just gave up on it all.

One good song, Big Sur. Everything else was awful. The singers fake american twang would grate on you, I think he was trying to sound like Neil Young or someone but ended up just sounding like a knob.

That song title has taken on a whole new slant since the revelations about Mr. Haim's childhood.

Article in the Sunday Times few weeks back said that the drummer is going alone and releasing an album.

http://www.bencarrigan.com/ seems to be his site.

musically they had some good hooks and arrangements, Santa Cruz for one, but lyrically the American accent was a no-no, and I don't think they had any message, nothing to say...

Some good songs, some good hooks but not enough substance.

so its not cool to have liked them? I thought they were ok, nice catchy pop songs, not supposed to change the world, just something to hum along to

the american accent was a bit weird but its still good music

The shíttest band I've ever heard. Embarrassing summed it up perfectly. Also, what Indie bands???

When "One Horse Town" came out I genuinely sat up and took notice, it was good to see them try something slightly different to what was out at the time (albeit just ripping off The Beach Boys et all).

Then they kept releasing similar ****e, very clearly a one trick pony.

Then I heard your man Conor Deasy talk.

And that was the end of me and The Thrills.

    Ditto. Very annoying voice.

Come on now lads, jaysus! A lot of faux hipsterism going on in this thread!

They weren't my thing, the American accent used to get on my nerves and seriously, I think if I was in the pub with them i'd want to punch them in the face!

But worst band ever? Come off it! They wrote some catchy ass tunes. Nothing I would buy, but certainly stuff I would tap my feet to when it came on the radio! Big Sur was a good enough tune. Nothing was offensive to the ear and who cares if they haven't got anything to say? Is that really a pre-requisite for every piece of music you listen to? You do realise that most bands have nothing to say right?

They were Indie-Pop. They were half-decent. Stop trying to be too cool for school!

They're sh*t just like most Irish middle-class bands.

I think it's a case of music snobbery!

That's a pretty boll*x statement to make if you don't mind me saying so. It doesn't matter if they were working class or middle class or upper class. They just didn't have anything to say. You'll find that 99% of Irish bands are middle class including ones you like I'd say............

Yeah I read your post, thanks for the rolleyes. Point me to the "faux hipsterism" and "too cool for school" posts then in the thread then, unless a lot of posts have been deleted or something?

From what I can see its just a lot of people saying The Thrills are crap, only one poster said "worst band ever". Only thing worse than the hipsters are people accusing others of being hipsters/music snobs just because they don't like a particular band.
