Yeah I read your post, thanks for the rolleyes. Point me to the "faux hipsterism" and "too cool for school" posts then in the thread then, unless a lot of posts have been deleted or something?

From what I can see its just a lot of people saying The Thrills are crap, only one poster said "worst band ever". Only thing worse than the hipsters are people accusing others of being hipsters/music snobs just because they don't like a particular band.

Not when it's justified. People calling them an "embarrassment", slating them because they're not "saying something", slagging their lyrics like "OOH! Yeah girl I said: OOH" as if they're the first band to include lyrics like that.

Someone called them "The shíttest band I've ever heard."

All complete over reactions. You and I both know it was never "cool" to like The Thrills and this is the motivation for silly statements. They are far far from being the worst band ever OR embarrassing.

You tried to then infer that someone was saying not liking The Thrills was music snobbery, nobody was saying that and you know it. You just either didn't read the conversation or failed to comprehand it somehow.

Those are peoples opinions. However over the top YOU think those opinions are, those are still peoples opinions.

I inferred wrong so *holds hands up*

Indeed. I never said otherwise, only that their opinions were over the top for a reason.

That's a pretty boll*x statement to make if you don't mind me saying so. It doesn't matter if they were working class or middle class or upper class. They just didn't have anything to say. You'll find that 99% of Irish bands are middle class including ones you like I'd say............

    I like the other 1%.

Super stuff. So all it takes for you to dislike a band is finding out they are middle class.

And all it takes is for you to like a band is for them not to be!

Astonishing, and kinda backs up my point!

Nope, all it takes for me to dislike a band is finding out they are Irish middle class.

whats your background then? Is it ok to like English or American middle class bands? Or do you just have a chip on your shoulder all the time? What's the name of your band?

People in bands affecting accents is nothing new and not necessarily a bad thing...obvious people who come to mind include Lennon, Jagger, Bowie. I also seem to remember Kurt Cobain recalling in an interview how he used to affect a bit of an English accent (amongst others, to my ears-e.g. spank thru). Granted, The Thrills perhaps don't belong in such esteemed company and yes, their music was throwback, derivative (as were above at one point or other)...but it was also well produced, musically adept, tuneful (subjective, yes). Come to think of it, they've much in common with The Strokes. Not that the 'class' issue is at all relevant. The mechanics of music, of a good song, have never been dictated by class...inspiration and opportunity, that's another story...

Nothing to do with their music then no?

    Total clownery!
