Thanks STB - maybe I didnt explain correctly.

When I do the manual tune at say 4pm I can see and hear RTE Jr, and I can see that RTE+1 is in the EPG.

However at 7pm when RTE+1 should be viewable I only get a blank screen but I do get audio ?

If I do another manual tune at that time (7 pm), RTE+1 becomes viewable and audible but the following morning RTE Jr cannot be viewed but is audible ?????

    Ideas ??

is there an email address floating around I could use? And is the issue specific to C4?

Anyone with any issues with this box (HD Channels freezing, Audio going etc) write to Ferguson and explain in detail what they need to fix in the next firmware update,
The firmware is not written by Tony or anyone else on here giving their valued opinion so make Ferguson aware and preferably in detail - HERE

Thanks, this would be a big help in putting pressure on ferguson to resolve the freezing issue which seems to be affecting some guys.

apart from firmware upgrades I still cant figure out why this box has a LAN port.

With its ability to playback video, audio and pictures from the USB port and how it can take an IP address, it would make me wonder if a DNLA, UPnP addition to the firmware update is in the pipeline, or would be too good to be true? it appears to have the hardware, or am i missing something.
that would be some box then for €100 . I'm still getting a second one next week though:)

If you have a drive connected to the USB port internet radio stations can be played using the Media Player.

It should also be possible to play some stream from the LAN ..... just not sure how to set it up at this time .... was looking at it, but got diverted ..... so maybe someone else would take a look .... ;)

The LAN port is to connect to the internet to do something we cannot discuss here :)

Is there somewhere where these things can be openly discussed?

    Hi SH

This is the same issue that i have been seeing on all the boxes since tha latest firmware upgrade, I am thinking of loading back the previous firmware release to at least get the rte jnr back (ie with picture and sound) Not sure what else to do, It seems a bit strange though that other posters are not seeing this issue

There's plenty of discussion on it in the Soccer forum, if I'm guessing correctly.;)

Thanks Shannon Gaels - I have tried deletign all the DTT channels and then selected 1 mux (manual scan) but with no joy.

Have you tried reverting to previous firmware with any success ?

It records whatever you're watching so that you can "rewind" TV.

Just bought a WD Passport Essential 1TB and it has worked straight out of the box, which is Great :)

But I have a recording issue, the Ariva 120 seems to be writing to the HDD all the time, even when not recording!!!

I guess this is a software issue with the Ariva 120, right?

    My Firmware is V2.14B4

Hmm. Seems you deleted your post and reposted it. My answer is above your post.

Indeed, and thanks for your answer, but I also own a Technomate 5200 USB which has the 'Pause Live TV' function, and on that model the HDD is always idle, until that is you press the Pause or Record buttons, (then it starts flashing & working away)! The Ariva is making the HDD work all the time even when its doing nothing, surely this is wrong?

Ah, OK just got it > I never knew it could rewind Live TV, oops :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,576 ✭✭✭Gerry Wicklow

Any box like this will be constantly recording (buffering) what you are watching so you can instantly rewind a program. There is often an option to turn off this feature in the menus but this defeats the purpose of "timeshifting".

OK, so now I just have to sort out the 'Transponder problem' which I gusee is sorted in the latest Firmware?

Problem = When recording from a given Transponder I should only be left with a choice of all the stations on that transponder, instead of which, when I press ((OK)) during recording I am presented with all stations on all transponders, which is quite obviousy wrong.

There are two settings for the Pause function .... one should stop it accessing while allowing Pause Live to operate while the other stops the Pause Live function.

I had a problem that it continued accessing although I had chosen not to keep some live content constantly, while allowing Pause Live to operate from the moment it is selected.
I had to kill the function altogether to prevent constant accessing of the drive.

Is it the same on your box?

    Hi Guys,
Just wondering will sky ftv card update by leaving it in the ferguson 120 box or does it have to be used in a sky box?

    Regards

    Good Boy

Yes, I have come to exactly the same conclusiuon as you, so the TS function is now off, and although I like the idea of the Pause feature I don't want my HDD running all the time. On another point, have you also got the Transponder/Channel selection problem I speak of?

Yes I had that problem also. Tried to tune in True Movies and some of the kids channels which are on the one transponder 11307/27500/V and it scanned in the entire channel list on Astra 2A

No problem i'm happy to help . From experience usually if there is a sound problem it appears at both the scart and the HDMI outputs . If there was a problem with your cable or the HDMI socket it would usually be present alll the time and on both sound and vision .

Is there any possibility you can try the box on another tv which has HDMI ? With a problem like this its really a case of eliminating each element in the chain one at a time, for example if it was ok with another tv with the same HDMI lead it would point at something else being the cause . As the problem occurs on both terr and sat you can be pretty sure neither the aerial or the dish are causing the problem.

Hope this make sense and gives you some pointers.

Hello Tony, I tried another Ferguson box with this TV ( this box worked fine with another TV using HDMI cable ) and I still have the same issue, I presume that the issue comes from the TV itself then.

Quite possibly , there may be some setting you can change in the tv set up that may cure the problem
