    Yup, another lefty here.

I remember playing under age hurling for my local club and being told that I had to hold the hurley right handed. Bloody broke my heart to do it. The trainer used to run around after me and another lad to make sure we were holding the hurleys "correctly" I still hold a hurley right handed but play off my left which is completely arse ways. Of course, with the additional intelligence and creativity afforded to left handers, I feel sure that by now I would have won several All Irelands with my beloved Rebels if it hadn't been for a few unfortunate injuries which cut my playing career cruelly short. As in it finished at 15...

Not a left hander but I have an assistant who is. I hate the way she does back-to-front ticks on things. A little creepy. Then there is the cork screw problem -- how do they open wine???

That's not because she is left handed, it's because she is retarded.

I was left handed. But my Uncle, who went to school during a time where you were beaten for being a citeog, encouraged me to use my right hand! I still do some things as a left handed person.

i wasn't beaten but i was made an example of by a cow of teacher when i was in senior infants, every Thursday she taught knitting and i was never able to do it so after two or three week she sat me in front of the class and everyone watched as i tried to knit. i remember her snide remarks and the laughter from the classroom as i failed time and again.

Seeing her now boils my blood. If I only knew then what i know now.

    Love being a leftie!
using ledgers, smudging my own writing can be a pain though!

I find if I concentrate it can be passable, but normally it's fairly bad alright. It's so annoying when you can't see the word you just wrote as your hand's in the way.

I write quite slowly as well, but that might just be my inferior brain.

I know the hand in the way that's another thing!

I write quick enough but when you can't read half of what you wrote its a bit of a disaster:p

I was in 2nd class in a rural national school in the mid 1990s. The teacher who I had for this class would intentionally humiliate me in front of the rest of my classmates over the the fact that I was left handed. He used to call me the devil's child. It makes me angry now that I never complained about this behaviour. If I saw him now Id give him a good left hook.

I was told I was the son of Satan by a Sister when I was in primary and got a fair few belts because I wrote left handed.
I was called a witch and a pagan etc.
This was only in the 80's.

I would also love it if there were left handed cheque/lodgement books!
NatWest do them... I don't think any Irish banks do, though!

Correct me if i'm wrong 10% of world population is left handed so therefore if you put 10% of the world against the rest, of course it will come up smarter. For us right handed folk

there is less people to judge so the IQ is higher with rand handed people you have to take into account 3rd world countries and Americans(not all but quite a few) :)
    Rand handed people.
    Edumacating the wurld for generationz!!!

My 12 year old son is left handed and ginger and we're neighbours Terry. Don't worry, i'm not trying to imply that he's a secret love child or anything :D

He is an extremely intelligent child and comes up with fantastically creative ideas and is brilliant at science. Unfortunately his handwriting is woeful so even though he has great ideas his teachers have always struggled to work out what he is trying to write down.
I have never tried to get him to write with his right hand or anything like that but I have gotten him various books to help him practice.

It is a genuine worry that he will lose out when it comes to exams because he could be writing the correct answer but the teacher wont be able to read it.

I know that this is exactly what you are doing.
Yeah, you all want me as the baby daddy, but I'm not having any of it.

For far too long left handed people and ginger people have been discriminated against.
We're fighting back now under my leadership (and I know that you want in on this, woman*).

I have formed an alliance with Conan O'Brien, Denis Leary and two ginger pro wrestlers (Sheamus and Crimson).

We're going to take over the world.

Discriminated against?! Got my left hand slapped by a leather wad a few times in the principal's office. it always had to be the left. CBS, long mile road.. apparently was "really disruptive". was expelled before long this was 1992, a few months later the townie phenomenon went viral in the classrooms they were squaring up to teachers having been caught rolling joints (in class) not even a word of caution. Harmless eh? short back n sides / squeaky bums / fluffy choons .. not that Glen Benton malarkey - just didn't act fluffy as they appeared - but it seemingly went from corporal punishment to too much leeway in no time. sexual favours?

Most of the gay people I know (and I include myself) are ciotógí. There's a definite higher proportion of gays who are lefties than righties. A person I know who studied NLP said there's a link alright.

    What's that all about ?

I'm a lefty, and when I started school in the mid 60's, those bitches of nuns used to beat me, to try and change me to a righty..........until my parents stepped in......no more bother with the nuns after that...

My wife is also a lefty, and same story, the nuns told her it was the mark of the devil!!!!!!

You don't want to know what the right hand is doing while their left hand is typing..

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.
