Not so sure mate but ive been looking over the apprentice faqs on the eircom site and it says the following

Following the Assessment Centre stage candidates who most closely match the required eircom Apprentice profile will be invited to attend an interview between August 29th and September 15th.

So did anyone here get invited for the interview yet ?

    i just got the pfo:rolleyes:

    Hello,

Thank you for your interest in the eircom Apprentice Programme and for taking the time to complete the online assessments.

Due to the huge level of interest in the Apprentice Programme it has taken us longer than anticipated to provide updates on the status of applications. We have now had the opportunity to review your application and assessment results and we regret to inform you that, after careful consideration, we will not be progressing any further with your application to this year’s apprenticeship.

Although you have been unsuccessful in your application, if you are unemployed and on the live register, eircom would like to bring to your attention the Positive 2 Work Training Skillnet in which eircom is a lead partner. This is an enterprise led approach to training where those who are eligible can attend free training with a view to developing or enhancing skills for future career opportunities. A number of attendees to date have secured employment following participation in the programmes. If you are interested in learning more about the Skillnet or the free courses on offer please refer to the website http://www.positive2work.ie or contact Mark Brennan, Programme Manager, on (01) 6008529.

Thanks again you for your interest in eircom and we would like to wish you every success in the future.

    Best regards,

    Apprentice Recruitment Team

Nothing unexpected really, although I am disappointed I really would have liked that job and would have given 110%. Looking back at this now, the way it was organised was a bit of a joke and them aptitude tests , well lets say I now ****ing hate them.

Seems like doing the Cisco CCNA was a complete waste of time as it's not usable with out 3-5 years experience or another cert.

So it's on to plan b , ditch the whole IT thing and start my retail management course tomorrow. Although I am not sure if I will become a manager , but I will still get the training and the FETAC cert. Starts tomorrow with Tesco at leased I don't have to do an aptitude test for it.

Also love the way in every reply from company's looking for work. They all seem to give 'careful consideration'.

Although I envy the people who did get threw to the final stage, congratulations and best of luck with the rest of the process and I hope you do well and get the final job!

That kinda sucks, sorry to hear that. Im playing the nerve racking waiting game myself atm. All ive had on my mind for the last few weeks is this apprenticeship since I applied, its a fantastic opportunity they are giving. When was your assessment?

Also got the PFO email yesterday! :(

Well done to everyone who got through, the aptitude test went great for me and I have a degree in IT, never even got a phone interview. Its a tough recruitment process but a great opportunity for anyone who makes it.

the anticipation is killing me , if people are starting to get unsuccesfull emails already , has to be fairly close ........

    good luck to every1 ........

    anyone else get anything yet

Same here, I think everyone is in the same boat with anticipation. I did the assessment day on the very first morning and that seems like months ago.......

    Good Luck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 60 ✭✭auto spark

at the end of the day , its true what ian was saying in the assesments , that there was 6000+ applicants and it was an amazing achievment to even get as far as the assesment day , so anyone who hasnt got to next stage should hold there head high and carry that confidence onto there next venture .

Totally agree , its a great achievement to get as far as we did but can u imagine if we went the whole way ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43 higgs23

I think the fact they are willing to take on nearly 20 more apprentices than first advertised is what is causing a delay so the wait is justified. The chances are high though but there is still the interviews :) it feels like its nearly complete ha.

anyone who made it as far as the assesment is in with a good fighting chance ...

there were meant to be 2 or 3 more assement days this week, so I'd say calls for the interviews will be from Wednesday or Thursday onwards

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8 doink

anyone know if the talk of them takin on an extra 20 is solid info or just rumour?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 96 ✭✭axiom

they said to us that'd be definitely be more than 50, if there were suitable candidates which they think there will be ... they weren't sure where the cap would be, they said 70 was mentioned but they were also sayin if there were 75 suitable candidates, they'd most likely take them on .... but again, they could be told the cap is at 65.... it just hadn't been decided yet ....

the reason was, the mean age of their technician and engineer division is near 50, so majority of the company now will be gone in the next 10 to15 years

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 174 ✭✭jeddie20

Did the assesment today, sound bunch of people. Think it went fairly well, but sure we won't know for a few days anyway.

There might be 75 places Ian said, so thats good news! I think they are doing assesments into next week now, but we should expect to hear back in around the 5th to the 12th or 13th of sept, thats how I took it anyway!

Best of luck to those still in it, and hard luck to those who didn't get through!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 142 ✭✭lezza

the emails are for the people who failed at the interview stage anyone who done a assesment will be called and told there fate, i was also at assessments today and must say they were a very niced bunch of people, as repeated above the maximum amount taken according to the recruiters is 75.

That kinda sucks, sorry to hear that. Im playing the nerve racking waiting game myself atm. All ive had on my mind for the last few weeks is this apprenticeship since I applied, its a fantastic opportunity they are giving. When was your assessment?

About a month ago mate. I did study for it and the material I got was just completely different from what I though I would have got.

I would have prefered to have gotten interviewed first and then done the test. Cause if the interview went well I would have made damn sure I was not going to **** up the online assment. I was always thinking in my head that I would be getting the PFO e-mail.

There is too much competion out there at the moment and not really in a good way either. There a graduates with good intelligence applying for jobs which don't interest them and just see it as getting a job. Suppose it's not a bad thing. But for me my dream job would be something like working for eircom on there tower sites on the masts.

Now I am going into retail management which is what the graduate above should really be going into if they came from business etc..

Suppose I am just jealous, what can I say I didn't make the cut and am disappointed and angry.

Best of luck again to anyone who made it. And if anyone from eircom is reading this, well the way this has been handled is quite frankly ridicolus. 1 month it took to give me a PFO e-mail, in that time people who applied after me got interviews and all sorts. Don't leave people handing in the balance if I am out of the race tell me ASAP not get my hopes up only to destroy them 1 month on. I honestly did think there was maybe a interview at the end of this wait.

I am literally in the exact same boat. When I saw the details of the apprenticeship I really thought it was the perfect job for me... since the idea that I would find a job I would enjoy was becoming less unlikely.

I just dont want my degree to go to waste but its a giant pain in the arse that this whole thing was so drawn out. How they didnt anticipate so many applicants is beyond me... this is a 2 year job with a guaranteed full time job in the end... there would be people who arent in the slightest bit interested in the job title applying for it.

Guaranteed pay for 2+ years... jackpot.
