Hi Shannon, have you deleted the existing channels before you do the re scan ?

    Hi Tony
    Yes i did,
I deleted everything and even did a factory reset on one of the boxes , (same effect)

I have been updating the boxes with each of the firmwares as they became available but this is the first ive seen this with , I reloaded the previous firmware and it worked fine when scanning the channels.

I did get RTE +1 back tonight (unless this issue was a transmitter issue) ( did a re-scan a few times)

But i do think there is an issue with the terrestial search, havent had any problems with the sat channels , these all work fine

    regards

Ok but if this was firmware related it would appear on all boxes with 1.15. I have 1.15 on here since release and I've not seen the issues you mentioned. I wonder is anyone else in your transmitter area experiencing the same symptoms.

Whats the signal percentages on the terrestrial channel ?

    Sounds borderline.

Anybody using a Tring Digital card in the 120 receiver? Have receiver connected to fixed 6 satellite setup with multiswitch. (9, 13, 16, 19,23 and 28 deg) The receiver performs channel changing between satellites with ease. Easy to set up to, thanks to Fergusons fairly straighforward menu setup.

Just wondering if the internal card reader opens Tring or if i need to buy a Conax cam. (Im aware the 120 has inbuilt conex) Just need to know it opens tring cards.

Maybe your download is slightly corrupted?
Would be worth while getting the file anew and trying the new one - just in case.

Regarding the missing RTE+1 ... not picked up here until it is transmitting e.g after 7pm to scan.... the indication from your post might point to an earlier scan time .... [not trying to tell granny how to suck eggs :D ]

Ordered one of these from Tony the other day (cheers), got it on Monday. I've noticed 2 things:
    1. The terrestrial channels occasionally go jumpy/blocky or have sound but no picture.
    2. The box has frozen on both Monday night and Tuesday night (overnight) so that when I tried to use it the following day, nothing was happening and the remote would do nothing, had to turn it off/on at the back to get it working.

For the first issue, would a signal booster help/work? Any ideas about the freezing?

On the whole though the box is lovely, the HD picture is such a change from the cheapy box I did have, well worth the purchase...

Depends on what your set up is . What signal quality readings do you get if you try a terrestrial manual scan ?

    Thanks Johnboy and Tony

I downloaded the firware again and flashed the units, Issue now resolved.

The original download must have been corrupted

    cheers

Just ordered one of the Ariva 120's from Tony the other evening, received this morning with thanks.

Currently I only have a cable run from my Sky Sat dish into the room as I dont have an aerial yet. Before I unbox it, is it just a plug & play device for using for satellite?

Do I need to do anything else?

My intention is to use my sky sub card in it now & again

Glad you got sorted, this is good info to know in case anyone comes across a similar problem.

Its pre loaded for free to air satellite but in your case you will have to do a couple of transponder scans to get your sky sub channels on also.

    Hope this helps

Glad to see it was an easy fix in the end ;)

    @Tony
it might be worthwhile to create a checksum number for any .abs files made available in future, so that a user can check the file before use ..... just a thought ;)

Thanks for the idea but I do not write the code so I'd have no idea how to do this.

Sorry for not explaining better ....

You have produced abs files for users of the Ariva .... containing upgrade including Sat channels etc.

When you have the file saved you can do a 'checksum' of the file .... most often an MD5sum number.

When the file is downloaded the user can then do a similar check on what they received, which - if the download did not corrupt - will produce the same number.

Thus with agreeing numbers the user can be sure they got the correct file without corruption or substitution.

    http://etree.org/md5com.html

Lots of other 'hits' using Google for MD5Sum+Windows

Hope that explains things a little better.

Set up is that there is an aerial on the roof, it is dropped into a room upstairs, a cable is then run off this through the attic into my room.

The quality I can't check right now (at work) but it did seem okay initially. The signal at home is only so-so though, we had to have a booster box downstairs before (until we got Sky, now the TV downstairs doesn't have terrestrial).

Do these signal boosters work and do they work with DTT?

They do work but it depends on the quality of signal fed to them , they will not fix a bad signal .

I reinstalled the latest firmware.....just in case the occasional freeze may have been due to a flawed update. Still got a freeze today on RTE2 HD. It seems to always happen on a HD channel.

I checked BBC HD & BBC1HD settings. The frequency was set as 22000. Should this not be 23000 ? Does this come with firmware ?

    Does it matter ?

    A.

    dulpit, is your box warm/hot?

Anyone know why RTE+1 has sound only, no pic? All other channels, DTT and Sat, very good on Ariva 120.

Can anyone comment of the performance of CCCam on the 120 ,is it still unstable or have the bugs been ironed out ?

Just joining this thread as I received the Ariva 120 from satellite.ie yesterday.

I've read through the whole thread before making the decision although I can't guarantee I've remembered everything I've read .

Anyhoo, all our Terrestrial channels are freezing very frequently - the sound continues but the picture either freezes or scrambles. FTA channels seem to be ok but terrestrial is pretty much unwatchable.

The box is connected to the TV through HDMI cable. Just to explain the TV can receive DTT itself but bought the box as my parents video recorder has packed in, so thought this would be a good option to combine their FTA and DTT and record to External HDD. They've had DTT through the tellie for a few months and quality has been 100%, so I don't think it's the aerial or transmitter (Maghera).

I've connected the RF Loopback to the TV and we're not getting the freezing using this on the TV Digital channels (not sure if that's relevant). Tried turning it off and on using the switch at the back but no joy.

Also bit scary but when I took the unit out of the box I heard a 'rattle'. Now it's not as if I want to shake it around the place, but definitely if I tilt it from side to side it sounds like something is rolling around loose in there. I hope it's not a component .

Firmware seems to be the latest V2.15B5 so not sure if I should try updating this again? Any recommendations?

When I first tuned in my DTT channels i found the tuner was able to receive Digital channels from Mahera, Truskmore and Cairn Hill. (My aerial is ponted at CairnHill) The Rte channels from Mahera and Truskmore were prone to breakup. Make sure you have selected the RTE digital channels coming from Mahera, not some other nearby transmitter,. My other DTT tuners do not pick up Mahera or Truskmore, so must be a good sensitive tuner in 120

Powered up the box last night and put in my sky sub card, did a scan and picked up all the channels. To my delight it picked up Sky Sports 2 which I dont have on my Sky subscription (I just have SSports 1) so not sure where that came out of. Think I also have a Setanta Sp channel that I'm not paying for...:D

Dunno, it is sort of buried in it's spot - I'll check tonight when I'm at home...

Bought a cheap signal booster in Argos for 7 quid, terrestrial was immediately fixed :)
