That's fine for now but what happens if/when the security holes in it are found.

i'll have to destroy it because I can't let them hackers see what movies I'm watching or what music I'm listening to on the bus to college

doesnt say that on mine, says:

    Dear Customer,
Thank you for you pre-order - this will be processed directly and a
further email sent confirming pricing.

"If this is confirmed, we will contact all backorders and let them know the new price and asked them to RE-confirm the orders before shipping them out. "

I dont like the re-confirm part. Makes it sound as if we have confirmed at the 400+ price and will only be asked again if it is lowered!

    Same happened for me!

Did you ask them about the confirmation while you were talking to them?

They just said no lead or something (and sounded a little frustrated).

I took a screengrab of the final order page. It says "If you place a pre-order, we will not ship the product or charge your credit card without confirming you still wish to proceed when stock arrives. There are no cancellation charges."

Thing is that if expansys do charge the full whack, just send it back unopened. Under the law you are allowed a cooling off period of 7 days where you can return an item once its re-sellable, etc...

i got an order through at expansys.ie.

Although it is showing the old price.. so hopefully it be corrected at invoice time, its a pre-order only.

It said it twice during the purchase process and I have screenshots to back it up so we should be okay

Not sure what the sarcastic smiley is for. You could have log in details stolen (and thus be open to theft -or even identify fraud) or end up with the device being controlled remotely.

I'm not trying to píss on anyones parade here, I'm just making the point that changing the OS could end up being a quite important in the future.

    in expansys terms

    3.3 Order Cancellation
3.3.1 A Customer can cancel an order at any time, unless it has already been invoiced. If so, and if the Customer really does not want the items he ordered, the Customer must nonetheless accept the parcel, not open it and send it back to EXPANSYS at his/her own expense. Should the Customer decide not to accept the parcel anyway, 2.5 times of the original shipping fees will be deducted from the total refunded amount.
In the event that the Customer ordered through the EXPANSYS website, he or she can cancel his/her order by telephone, fax or e-mail.
If another method was used by the customer to place an order, he or she must contact EXPANSYS's sales department to cancel it. Unless otherwise specified on an item, no penalty fee will be applied for a cancellation.
3.3.2 Bank Transfer or PayPal Prepaid Order Cancellation

A.b - Goods not in stock
Should a Customer wish to cancel a partly or fully pre-paid order while goods are not in stock, EXPANSYS will raise a store credit of the total amount the Customer pre-paid. This store credit, valid for 1 year starting from the date of issue, can be used on our website for any purchase. It can be refunded on the Customer credit card within 7 days or by bank transfer within 30 days, on written request.

    9.4 Cancellations & Retractions
9.4.1 Please read the Returns Procedure and Conditions beforehand.
9.4.2 Procedure - In accordance with the provisions of article 6 and in compliance with the Directive 97/7/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, the Consumer is entitled to a fourteen (14) day retraction period starting from the date he/she receives the product(s) to return any item that may not suit his/her needs. Products must be, preferably, in original packaging and in good condition in order to be resold. The Customer will be allowed to choose between having the returned goods replaced with another reference or receiving a refund without any penalty, with the exception of return fees. The Consumer is therefore entitled to a fourteen (14) day period to inform EXPANSYS that it is his or her wish to cancel his or her order and to obtain an RMA number from the Customer Care department.

I just had my credit card service provider on to me validating two large transaction with expansys for €400+ !!

Beginning to get worried now as they said to me in an email that they would not charge my credit card without me confirming I wanted to proceed with the transaction (after they confirm the price)
    Time for another email

Just reading Expansys terms and conditions.

1.8.2 EXPANSYS 's prices being in constant evolution, the prices shown are subject to modification at any time. Prices may also vary due to a launching price, a promotional offer or sales. Prices of items that are not in stock or that are available for a pre-order are valid during 7 days after the order was placed. Should the price of those items change with respect to the pre-order price, Customer will be informed and will have the possibility to cancel the order.

Does this mean if the price doesn't change they won't contact you?

FNAC are a large large european chain. Like HMV, though perhaps bigger. You're grand I'd say.

That's not the impression I got when making the preorder. I used a prepaid visa anyway, so they can try all they want to rip me off, but it'll be like trying to draw blood from a stone.

    Translated response:

Basically they oversold and now they're going to spend the next few days fighting with all the other retailers who also oversold for whatever stock the distributer have.

Meanwhile nobody knows for sure if they got one, so they'll keep ordering them on other sites just to be sure, causing more overselling, and so on.
