Agree. No gardai or politicians interviewed and no real insights or solutions offered.

Here is what should happen. Any foreign beggars should be deported. They do not contribute and we cannot afford to be paying them social welfare.

ireland signed up to free movement in the eu. so that would be like suggesting dublin city council deport culchy beggars to their home county.
The gardai need to be more proactive on Irish beggars. Move them on until they get the message. Near me there are 2 beggars who sit outside the local shops every day. I have seen the gardai talk to them and then nothing happens. Why dont they move them on?

They have free bus passes, get the dole and have their homes paid for. They are not in hardship. It is stupid people giving them money daily.

STOP GIVING BEGGARS MONEY and they will go away.

probably won't work. there's always gonna be fools who part with some cash to feel good about themselves. only thing that works is intimidation like what happened in belfast. obviously some ethical issues there

I rekon we should make some camps and seperate them into the weak and the strong, we can put the weak into furnaces or gas chambers and we should work the strong ones untill they die.

oh my god how come no ones ever thought of this before :pac:

They always surround old people too and hassle them for money which is disgusting, i've told them to f*ck off before when they were hassling an old man outside the shop I worked in town.

Also they attempted to rob from the shop many times so we decided to just ban them all from coming in.

There's very few of them in relation to us, and apparently they are starting to leave the country. I would urge anyone they approach to tell them to go home, they're not wanted. We can't afford them, and they have nothing to offer. I would also like to see anyone who give them money getting an on-the-spot fine. None of this will happen of course. Its the incompetence of our authorities that makes me angry and I take this out on the Roma. I saw a young Roma boy beg off a ban garda one day and she just smiled at him instead of giving him a clatter. There is a known leader of organised begging who comes around my local begging at night. I put up with this until one night I saw him intimidating a crippled beggar who had strayed on to his patch. Next time he came up to me I ran him out of it, and told him if he ever comes near me again, it'll be the last time. That has yet to happen, but I will keep running him out of it until he gets the message. Nobody else will do it, not the barstaff or the law. Like I said there's a lot more of us than there are of them.

Ireland is just getting now what's been going on in Europe for decades. We repeat every mistake they do

    Typically Irish you could say,

I'll be lambasted by the Liberal PC brigade for this but fook it I'm sick to death of biting my tongue,I've been saying it for years, the way we opened the floodgates here was only going to lead to problems down the line, our closest neighbours went through it all in the 60's & 70's and look at how it panned out over there over the last few decades. We have learnt sfa or have chose to ignore the warning signs.

If parasitical people are coming here and not making a contribution to society then we shouldnt be footing the bill of prolonging their stay, they should be rounded up and ran into the sea or back to wherever they originated!

You think these Romani gypsies are bad? they're just the tip of the iceberg!

Roma in Roma, there is pun there somewhere

Most of the ones that Sarkozy kicked out of France ended up at Termini train station in Rome (a very dangerous knackery part of Rome). Funny how history repeats itself. Napoleon also kicked the Roma out of France. They were put on ships bound for Britain. The Brits fobbed most of them on good old Ireland. Unfortunately we're all Europeans now and we are honoured to take them. (Thank You Bertie Ahern, and your insistence of passing the Nice Treaty)

Why didn't the reporter ask the two women he interviewed about their SW money?
He didn't ask the big question in that have they the requisite PRSI contribs built up (2yr plus taxed/insured work) and what about the HRC rule? were they getting payment from the CWO? (One of them hinted at that)

Not much of an investigative reporter that fella though he had the undercover voice down to a tee!

I hate to say it but the principal, if not the sole, cause of begging on Irish streets is the people who give money to beggars. That is, generally good-willed sympathetic Irish people who, ironically, do more than any other people in the country to ensure begging continues. If nobody gave money, there would be no beggars on the street.

The Roma and other beggars are only there because people make it worth their while by giving them money. That's the long and the short of it.

And i was reading this story last night

such as that he was a hard-working family man who came from poverty and was discriminated against because he was a member of a nomadic ethnic group known as Roma, also called Gypsies, according to the document.

The "enemy" here is the people who give to these people and thus give them an incentive to keep coming back begging for more money.

Yep, plenty of passers-by filmed dropping coins into their cups at the end of that program.
Just walk by and don't give them a cent.

I couldnt give a stuff about them begging, if people want to give them money then let them, its no skin of my nose. What does rile me though is the likes of the one interviewed whose getting four hunder and twenty fcuking euro each WEEK for doing nothing. The bitch will also be getting childrens allowance, rent allowance and everything else paid for, she probably has over €200 for herself after she pays for food etc etc each week. I've worked for the state for the last 14 years, after i pay my mortagge, bills, tax, USC, etc etc i've barely 60euro left to myself yet a low life parasitic begging scumbitch like that is thrown money from every direction but has never made one single contribution to anything in this country.

The stupid Irish people voted in the Nice Treaty at second time of asking, wihout understanding the implications in it regarding migration of people from poorer parts of the EU. Bertie Ahern neglected to explain it to us as well. He knew the score

Why are you begging beside an ATM?

Do you think you're getting a crisp new fifty?

I first came into contact with these people a few years back while on duty at an army barracks that had an area setup to house them. Being curious I went up to the area one day before they arrived to take a look at what they had laid out for them. They had the best of everything, Best of accommodation (albeit mobile homes) but they had everything in them, Sat tv tuned back to their own channels, kitchens, toilets ,showers etc.. Proper mobile homes!! There was also a recreational area setup for them among a heap of other places for them to hang out and do stuff.

On the day they arrived a bus load of them pulled up, The doors opened and the facilitators were trying to get them off the bus and they wouldn't get off. In the end they sent two people out to inspect the area who after a few mons got back on the bus and instructed the rest of them to stay where they were as the accommodation was not good enough for them!!! All I could think of was "Cmon lads Id nearly dress up as one of ye lads to get in there myself !!!" In the end they had to ship them off somewhere else as they refused to get off the bus.

In my opinion if they are found to be connected with begging they should be deported straight away. Why should this crippled country support these people when they can't afford to look after their own..

A word to the wise about approaching them, I questioned one of them about a scam they were pulling off in an area close to me about a year ago. Scam went as follows, On entering a supermarket you were handed a piece of paper folded up ( Almost like a offers leaflet for all the world ). Some people put it in the bin but the majority of them opened it curious to see what was inside it as I did myself. Inside was a picture of a very sick newborn baby hooked up to a ventilator and all manner of tubes and sensors ( really heart string tugging stuff ) on the bottom of it it gave a story about how the baby was sick and they were trying to raise money for a lifesaving operation and they were looking for a donation on your way out of the supermarket. As a father I was curious to find out more and to be honest If it had sounded some way legit i probably would have gave a few quid. So on the way out I asked the girl about this. I asked her who's baby it was and where the baby was in hospital etc etc. I got a broken english response that the baby was hers and that it was over in Romania in a hospital getting treatment. I asked her about the picture and again she told me she had delivered the baby back home but the government refused to pay for the operation to save its life. It was then I pointed out that in the picture there was a reference to Crumlin Childrens Hospital I can't remember it it was writhed on something or a towel but it clearly had it there. In rep once I got the Sorry I do not understand. In the time I was there questioning her 4 people had given her money approx 50 euro. I asked one lady who was about to hand over the money did she not think it was suspicious that they would leave a sick child at home in Romania to come beg over here and she put her money back i her pocket. A few seconds later I got a punch in the back and was told to F**K Off by what I could only describe as a roma version of Oddjob from the James Bond film. I turned around to walk away and was followed back to my car, luckily enough I got to it before he did and was able to lock the doors as he was adamant about trying to get into the car (banging the window and pulling hard on the door handle and shouting at me to get out of his area) I honestly felt really threatened and pulled out the gate fairly quick. After a call to the guards they arrived on the scene, Just as they pulled into the carpark the girl jumps into a waiting 2006 S class Merc and they head off.... Ever since I have no time for these people, I can understand why the romanians hate them so much. The sooner they send them back the better and they should finger print the F u ckers to make sure they don't try to get back in again a few weeks later!!!

    rant over

    Firstly,it's okee dokee

Now just because you happen to have been born in the UK to Irish parents doesnt make you an expert nor the leading authority on the subject.

There are rough estimates saying there are 6 million UK citizens with approx 25% Irish ancestory , that doesnt make them Irish. There are infact (according to the census report of 2001) 690,000 Irish born residents in the UK or 1.2% of the population.

Here's more reading material for you
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethnic_groups_in_the_United_Kingdom

    :D Those are actual facts,right!
